Design and Synthesis of a Highly Stable Six-hydrogen-bonded Serfassembly Yellowish Green Electroluminescent Molecular Duplex

This paper describes the design, synthesis and characterization of a hydrogen-bonded molecular duplex with 1,8-naphthalimide fluorescent pendants. The two oligoamide molecular strands, with complementary hydrogen bond sequences of DDADAA and AADADD, can form an ultra stable self-assembly duplex. Its molecular structure was confirmed by 1H NMR and ESI-MS, and its photoluminescence properties were determined. The resulting duplex exhibited a dramatically enhanced photoluminescence (PL) quantum efficiency of 63.7% compared to the corresponding 1,8-naphthalimide segment (32.4%), suggesting that the formation of the duplex with larger molecular weight could successfully inhibit the quenching of the fluorescent pendant. This novel duplex is a prospective candidate for new electroluminescent emitter.

Red Electroluminescence and Photoluminescence from Novel Binuclear Europium Complex with Squaric Acid Ligand

A novel binuclear europium b-diketone complex with squaric acid ligand was synthesized for the first time. Its structure was elucidated by IR, UV, and Elemental Analysis. Red light emitting diode (LED) was fabricated by using the novel europium complex as an emitting layer, tris(8-quinolinolate) aluminum (III) (Alq3) as an electron-transporting layer, N, N’-diphenyl-N, N’-(3-methylphenyl)-1,1’-biphenyl-4,4’-diamine (TPD) as a hole-transporting layer. A cell structure of indium-tin-oxide/TPD/Eu-complex/Alq3/Mg: Ag was employed. Red electroluminescence was observed at room temperature with dc bias voltage of 2 V in this cell. Red emission peaks at about 613 nm with maximum luminance of over 106 cd/m2. Compared with the EL luminance from those europium complexes reported before, one from the Eu-complex is best in the same cells.

Red Mechanoluminescence and Photoluminescence from Novel Europium Complexes

Two new binuclear (europium and lanthanum) β-diketone complexes Eu0.9La0.1(TTA)3Phen and Eu0.5La0.5(TTA),Phen in which Phen is 1,10-phenanthroline, TTA is an anion of thenoyltrifluoroacetone (HTTA) were synthesized for the first time. They showed intense photoluminescence (PL) and mechanoluminescence (ML), and had their maximum PL and ML spectra peaked at 6 13.5 nm with half bandwidth of 10 nm respectively. Their PL and ML intensity were obviously stronger than these from Eu(TTA)3Phen. It is considered that binuclear (europium and lanthanum) β-diketones complexes are promising ML and PL materials.

Synthesis of Pyrazolines Used as Blue Organic Electroluminescence Materials

Three kinds of pyrazolines were designed and synthesized. Their structures were elucidated by IR, 1HNMR, MS, UV and elemental analysis. Their luminescent properties were determined, which indicated that they had strong blue fluorescent properties. One of them was designed to have good film formation. All the three kinds of pyrazolines can be used as blue organic electroluminescence materials (OELMs).

Synthesis and Fluorescent Properties of New Binuclear Europiumβ-Diketone Chelates Eu_mY_(1-m)(TTA)_3phen as Red Electroluminescent Materials

A new type of binuclear europlum β-diketone chelates Eum Y1-m(TTA)3 phen (0≤m≤1) and the influence of the proportion of Y on fluorescence intensity of the Eu-complexes were studied. It was found the proportion of Y3+ could affect the fluorescence properties and the film formation seriously. only m≥0.5.Y3+ could increase the luminescent intensity and improve the film formalion. As a resull. three new binuclear europium β-diketone chelales consisted of Eu, Y1-m (TTA)3phen (m=0.9. 0.7 and 0.5) were designed and synthesized. Their structures were elucidated by IR. UV. DSC and Elementary Analysis. Their PL properties were studied. The results showed that the three binuclear europium β-diketone chelates had better PL properties and film formation than Eu(TYA)3phen. They could emit sharply red light, and fluorescenl wavelength of them was all at 613nm (half bandwidth 10nm). They can be used as red organic electroluminescent materials (OELMs) in organic electrolminescent devices (OELDS).

Synthesis of a Novel Blue- light- emitting Polymer Material Bearing Coumarin Pendants

A novel blue luminescent polymer bearing coumarin pendants was prepared. Its luminescent properties were determined indicating that it had strong blue fluorescent properties and good film formation ability. This novel polymer can be used as a blue organic electroluminescent material (OELM) in organic electroluminescent devices.

Improved One-pot Synthesis of 4,6-Dihydroxyisophthalic Acid and 2,3-Dihydroxyterephthalic Acid

An improved method for the large-scale preparation of 4,6-dihydroxyisophthalic acid and 2,3-dihydroxyterephthalic acid has been developed. Compared to the previous procedures, this new process requires much lower CO2 pressure of 0.3 Mpa and shorter reaction time, thus providing a convenient access for large-scale synthesis. The yield is high (93% and 65%, respectively), and the oxidation of phenol is nearly inhibited, neither decolorization nor further chromatographic purification is required.

Synthesis and phosphorescent properties of two novel iridium (Ⅲ) complexes bearing bulky tert-butyl substituents

The synthesis and phosphorescence properties of two novel Ir(Ⅲ)complexes bearing tert-butyl substituents,bis(4-tert-butyl-2- phenylbenzothiozolato-N,C2′)iridium(Ⅲ)(acetylacetonate)[(tbt)2Ir(acac)]and bis(4-tert-butyl-1-phenyl-1H-benzimidazolato- N,C2′)iridium(Ⅲ)(acetylacetonate)[(tpbi)2Ir(acac)],are reported,their molecular structures are confirmed by1H NMR,ESI-MS and elementary analysis.Photoluminescence(PL)studies revealed that they can emit strong green and orange phosphorescence in high quantum yields.Compared to their prototypes lacking of tert-butyl substituents,the two novel iridium(Ⅲ)complexes both have shorter lifetimes and improved or nearly similar PL quantum efficiencies,implying that the exciton quenching is inhibited effectively when molecular steric hindrance increases.The two chelates have great potential to be used as electrophosphorescent materials.

Synthesis and characterization of novel conjugated polymers based on 3-cyclobutene-l,2-dione moiety

Three novel conjugated polymers bearing 3,4-bis(4-hexylthiophen-2-yl)-3-cyclobutene-1,2-dione unit in their main chain have been synthesized successfully in good yields through Suzuki or Stille coupling reaction.Their molecular structures have been confirmed by FT-IR,~1H NMR and ^(13)C NMR.All these copolymers exhibit broad and strong absorption bands in UV-vis region,and their optical band gaps are calculated to be 1.6-2.0 eV.suggesting that they have good coverage with the solar spectrum.These polymers have good thermostability and solubility in common organic solvents.Moreover,all these objective macromolecules possess high electron affinity of～3.8 eV determined from cyclic voltammetry measurement,implying that they are potential n-type polymeric photovoltaic materials.
