Effects of Polygonatum sibiricum Polysaccharide on Antioxidant Capacity of the Liver in High-fat Diet Rats

[Objectives]This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharide(PSP)on antioxidant function in high-fat diet obese rats.[Methods]Thirty five healthy male SD rats were selected to establish an obesity model after feeding a high-fat for 8 weeks.They were then randomly divided into a normal group(NC),a high-fat diet group(HF),and an HF+P.sibiricum polysaccharide group[HF+PSP,300 mg/(kg·d)].After 6 weeks of PSP intervention,the serum and liver of rats were collected,and the activity of aspartate transaminase(AST)and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)in serum,the enzyme activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)and malondialdehyde(MDA)in liver tissue were measured.The pathological changes of liver tissue were observed by HE staining.[Results]Compared with the HF group,PSP could effectively inhibit obesity caused by high-fat diet.It reduced body weight and serum AST and ALT levels,increased the contents of T-SOD,CAT and GSH-Px in the liver,and inhibited the accumulation of MDA content,thereby reducing damage to liver cells caused by a high-fat diet.It indicated that PSP could effectively inhibit obesity in high-fat diet rats and enhance their antioxidant capacity.[Conclusions]This study provides a reference for the study of the antioxidant capacity of PSP. 展开更多

The ultrasonic technique has been demonstrated to be a promising method for the disposal of hazardous oily sludge.However,the separation of oil from the surfaces of the solid particles is still difficult due to the strong interaction between the oil and solid particle.In this study,three types of surfactants were used to assist the ultrasonic treatment of oily sludge.The oil component,surface composition,and structure of the solid particle were determined.The results showed that different surfactants had different oil removal abilities.In the three surfactant-assisted sonication systems,the oil removal rate increased during the starting reaction period and then decreased with longer sonication time.The results of four components analysis suggested that surfactant easy to be ionized in water posed a better removal effect on resins,while the amphiphilic surfactant preferred saturates,aromatics and asphaltenes.The morphology analysis indicated that particle size was shattered into smaller ones by the ultrasonic process,and the wettability of the solid surface also changed during this treatment.The characterization of the oil component and solid particle during surfactant-assisted ultrasonication treatment will help to better understand the separation of oil from oily sludge and improve the oil recovery efficiency from oily sludge. 展开更多

Membrane permeability and intracellular diffusion of fluorescent probes determine staining selectivity of intracellular substructures.However,the relationship between the molecular structure of fluorescent probes and their membrane permeability and intracellular distribution is poorly understood.In this paper,we reported a series of 1,8-naphthalimide dyes and carried out cell imaging experiments,and found that the presence of amino hydrogen in these dyes played a crucial role in their cell membrane permeability and intracellular distribution.The secondary amino group containing compounds 1-4 show excellent membrane permeability and strong fluorescence in living cells.While the tertiary amine containing dyes 5 and 6 can hardly permeate the cell membrane though they show extremely similar structure with compounds 2-4.Compound 1 can selectively image lipid droplets by selecting the wavelength of excitation light.With the specificity for lysosomes,2 and 4 have been used in long-term time-lapses imaging of lysosomal dynamics and tracking the process of lysosome-lysosome interaction,fusion and movement.The effect of hydrogen-containing amino substituent on the cell membrane permeability of fluorescent molecules is promising for the development of better biocompatible probes. 展开更多

Nonclassical single electron hydrogen,sodium and lithium bonds(SEHBs,SENaBs and SELiBs)between single electron acceptors X–A(A=H,Na,Li;X=CN,HCC,HO,NC,CF3)and neutral radicals BY2(Y=H,OH,CH3)and have been systematically investigated by high level theoretical methods,such as second-order Mφller-Plesset perturbation theory(MP2),spin-component-scaled MφllerPlesset theory(SCS-MP2),the coupled cluster method with perturbative triples(CCSD(T)),and the correlation consistent composite approach(ccCA).Binding energies have been corrected for zero-point vibrational effects and(when applicable)basis set superposition error.The quantum theory of atoms in molecules(AIM)and natural bond orbital(NBO)analyses were also employed to qualitatively characterize the single electron bond interactions.The stabilization energy was partitioned via the localized molecular orbital energy decomposition analysis(LMOEDA)method,and both electrostatic and exchange interactions were seen to be major driving forces for the complex stabilization.Interestingly,the sum of the energy contributors of exchange(EEX),repulsion(EREP),polarization(EPOL),dispersion(EDIS)is close to zero and the changes in the interaction energy follow the trend of the electrostatic energy(EES).We observe several linear relationships among the optimized intermolecular parameters and the interaction energies of the various complexes. 展开更多

Methotrexate,etoposide,dexamethasone,and pegaspargase(MESA)with sandwiched radiotherapy is known to be effective for early-stage extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma,nasal type(NKTCL).We explored the efficacy and safety of reduced-intensity,non-intravenous etoposide,dexamethasone,and pegaspargase(ESA)with sandwiched radiotherapy.This multicenter,randomized,phase III trial enrolled patients aged between 14 and 70 years with newly diagnosed early-stage nasal NKTCL from 27 centers in China.Patients were randomly assigned(1:1)to receive ESA(pegaspargase 2,500 IU/m^(2)intramuscularly on day 1,etoposide 200 mg orally,and dexamethasone 40 mg orally on days 2–4)or MESA(methotrexate 1 g/m^(2)intravenously on day 1,etoposide 200 mg orally,and dexamethasone 40 mg orally on days 2–4,and pegaspargase 2,500 IU/m^(2)intramuscularly on day 5)regimen(four cycles),combined with sandwiched radiotherapy. 展开更多

The exploitation of a highly selective and sensitive probe to detect both cancer marker and metal ion is of great importance.In this work,the "one stone two bird" agent of 1,10-phenanthroline(phen) is designed to disrupt the polymeric lanthanide MOFs(LnMOFs,[Ln(CHO_(2))_(3)]n,Ln=Tb,la;Eu,1 b,CHO_(2)=formic acid) {[Ln(CHO_(2))_(4)·(C_(2) H_(8) N)]n,Ln=Y,2 a;Gd,2 b;Dy,2 c,C_(2)H_(8) N=dimethylamine}) into a soluble mononuclear species [Ln(phen)_(2)(NO_(3))_(3),Ln=Tb,3 a;Eu,3 b] as well as to provide an antenna for efficient photons absorption,resulting in an ultra-high luminescence quantum yield(QY,90%) europium complex.The luminescence QY is among the highest record of monomeric(zero-dimensional) lanthanide complexes.Furthermore,mononuclear Tb3+complex(3 a) functions as a multiplex sensor towards both Fe^(2+)and cancer marker of 5-hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid(5-HIAA).Importantly,the limit of detection(LOD)for sensing 5-HIAA is an ultra-sensitive value of 1 × 10 s mol/L,which is even lower than that necessary for the early diagnosis of carcinoid tumors.More interestingly,sensing results in simulated urine reveals that 3 a has potential application for early diagnosis in the clinic. 展开更多

In 2015,the Study of Xi’an Historic Walled City Regeneration Strategy applied the Historic Urban Land­scape(HUL)Approach through experimenting and testing digital technologies following recommended action steps of HUL Approach.Within the context of urbanisation and heritage deterioration happened past decades in Chinese cities,this paper proposes an innovative HUL Information System that can be used to integrate the ap­proach and technical support measures.This enables comprehensive identification of spatial-temporal relativity of urban landscape morphology,linking between the past and present.The use of spatial digital tools such as aerial photo modeling,geographic information system analysis,and space syntax is explored to trace the continuity of the historical landscape in the built environment.The research team uncovered the context of Xi’an’s cultural and his­torical landscape through historical literature and related studies over past decades,and summarised and obtained a spatial data set for the dominant historical landscape pattern of the walled city area.Compared with the existing spatial pattern identified by digital tools,the findings showed similarity with historical landscape patterns,including part of a fengshui landform,the 17^(th) to 19^(th) century water system,and an evolving community habitat.This could be explained by the literature and academic research,which demonstrates the influence of historic landscape system in urban evolution.This research aims to show the potential of the HUL Information System as a technical support for urban conservation in Chinese cities,particularly with regard to mapping resources,which is fundamental toward other relevant steps in the HUL approach. 展开更多

Synchronized rotation of unit cells in a periodic structure provides a novel design perspective for manipulation of band topology.We then design a two-dimensional version of higher-order topological insulator(HOTI)by such rotation in a triangular photonic lattice with C_(3) symmetry.This HOTI supports the hallmark zero-dimensional corner states and,simultaneously,the one-dimensional edge states.We also find that our photonic corner states carry chiral orbital angular momenta locked by valleys,whose wave functions are featured by the phase vortex(singularity)positioned at the maximal Wyckoff points.Moreover,when excited by a fired source with various frequencies,the valley topological states of both one-dimensional edges and zero-dimensional corners emerge simultaneously.Extendable to higher or synthetic dimensions,our paper provides access to a chiral vortex platform for HOTI realizations in the terahertz photonic system. 展开更多
