Photoinduced Floquet higher-order Weyl semimetal in C_(6) symmetric Dirac semimetals

Topological Dirac semimetals are a parent state from which other exotic topological phases of matter, such as Weyl semimetals and topological insulators, can emerge. In this study, we investigate a Dirac semimetal possessing sixfold rotational symmetry and hosting higher-order topological hinge Fermi arc states, which is irradiated by circularly polarized light. Our findings reveal that circularly polarized light splits each Dirac node into a pair of Weyl nodes due to the breaking of time-reversal symmetry, resulting in the realization of the Weyl semimetal phase. This Weyl semimetal phase exhibits rich boundary states, including two-dimensional surface Fermi arc states and hinge Fermi arc states confined to six hinges.Furthermore, by adjusting the incident direction of the circularly polarized light, we can control the degree of tilt of the resulting Weyl cones, enabling the realization of different types of Weyl semimetals. 展开更多

The gasification characteristics and gasification kinetics of coke in complex CO2/CO/H2/H2O/N2 systems similar to the gas system of industrial blast furnace (BF) were studied by the method of isothermal thermogravimetric analysis. The experimental gas compositions and the corresponding temperature were chosen according to data reported for industrial BFs. The gasification behavior of coke was described by the Random Pore Model (RPM), Volumetric Model (VM), and Grain Model (GM). Results showed that the gas composition of the coke gasification zone in BF changes slightly and that the temperature is the most important factor affecting coke gasification. The lower activation energy of coke samples (Coke Reaction Index (CRI)>50) is due to the high Fe2O3 in the ash, lower degree of graphitization, and larger pore structure. In addition, the choice of kinetic model does not differ substantially in describing the gasification mechanism of coke in a BF. 展开更多

Flood management of Dongting Lake after operation of Three Gorges Dam 被引量:6

Full operation of the Three Gorges Dam(TGD) reduces flood risk of the middle and lower parts of the Yangtze River Basin. However,Dongting Lake, which is located in the Yangtze River Basin, is still at high risk for potentially severe flooding in the future. The effects of the TGD on flood processes were investigated using a hydrodynamic model. The 1998 and 2010 flood events before and after the operation of the TGD, respectively, were analyzed. The numerical results show that the operation of the TGD changes flood processes, including the timing and magnitude of flood peaks in Dongting Lake. The TGD can effectively reduce the flood level in Dongting Lake, which is mainly caused by the flood water from the upper reach of the Yangtze River. This is not the case, however, for floods mainly induced by flood water from four main rivers in the catchment. In view of this, a comprehensive strategy for flood management in Dongting Lake is required. Non-engineering measures, such as warning systems and combined operation of the TGD and other reservoirs in the catchment, as well as traditional engineering measures, should be further improved. Meanwhile, a sustainable philosophy for flood control, including natural flood management and lake restoration, is recommended to reduce the flood risk. 展开更多

Viruses can be transmitted from animals to humans(and vice versa)and across animal species.As such,host-virus interactions and transmission have attracted considerable attention.Non-human primates(NHPs),our closest evolutionary relatives,are susceptible to human viruses and certain pathogens are known to circulate between humans and NHPs.Here,we generated global statistics on virus infections in NHPs(VI-NHPs)based on a literature search and public data mining.In total,140 NHP species from 12 families are reported to be infected by 186 DNA and RNA virus species,68.8%of which are also found in humans,indicating high potential for crossing species boundaries. 展开更多

AIM: To ascertain whether side population (SP) cells in HXO-Rb44 retinoblastoma cell line have cancer stem cell-like property in vitro and in vivo. METHODS: We analyzed and sorted SP from HXO-Rb44 retinoblastoma cell line by Hoechst 33342 staining on flow cytometry. SP and NSP cells were determined their ability of proliferation and self-renewal by SP reanalysis, soft agar assay and tumor sphere assay in vitro. Clone formation was detected by seeding HXO-Rb44 and HXO-Rb44 -RFP cells into soft agar. The expression of ABCGZ MDRI Bmi-1 and Oct-4 was determined by RT-PCR between SP and non-SP (NSP) cells. Moreover, they were injected into nude mice to determine their tumorigency in vivo. RESULTS: SP from HXO-Rb44 retinoblastoma cell line could grow clonally in soft agar assays and form tumor spheres from single cells in conditioned media. The expressions of ABCG2, MDRI Bmi-1 and Oct-4 were significantly higher in SP than NSP cells. As few as SP cells resulted in tumor formation in 6 of 12 injected sites, however, the injection of NSP cells failed to form new tumor. CONCLUSION: SP cells isolated by Hoechst 33342 from the HXO-Rb44 retinoblastoma cell line had property of high tumorigency in vivo and in vitro Therefore, SP might be a target while developing retinoblastoma therapies. 展开更多

Objective:To explore the mechanism of anticancer prescription in treatment of gastric cancer based on network pharmacology and molecular docking.Methods:By searching TCMSP database,the active components and corresponding targets of anticancer prescriptions were screened out.GeneCards,PharmGkb,OMIM,DrugBank and TTD database were used to collect action targets of gastric cancer.And Venny 2.1 software was used to screen drug-disease co-action targets.Then,String and Cytoscape software were used to analyze and construct PPI network,and Cytonca plug-in was used to cany out topology analysis to select the core targets.ClueGO plugin was used for GO function enrichment analysis and KEGG pathway analysis.Finally,the AutoDock software was used to conduct molecular docking between the core target and the main active ingredients of the anticancer prescription.Results:Sixty-four active compounds,159 common targets and 12 core targets of anti-cancer prescriptions were screened out,which involved 2373 GO functions and 172 KEGG pathways.Finally,the core target proteins MAPKI TP53 and JUN were screened and molecularly docked with 8 major active components.Among them,theflavonoid quercetin and luteolin had the best binding activity with MAPK1,Quercetin baicalin also had high binding activity with FOS.Conclusion:The preliminary study showed that flavonoids were an important active ingredient in the anti-cancer prescription,which mainly treated gastric cancer through multiple targets and multiple pathways,such as the effect of MAPK1 on chemical carcinogenesis in reaction with drugs,bacterial and viral infection and cell apoptosis. 展开更多

Objective: The purpose of this review is to discuss some critical issues of isoflavones protective against the development of prostate cancer (PCa).Data Sources: Data cited in this review were obtained primarily from PubMed and Embase from 1975 to 2015.Study Selection: Articles were selected with the search terms &quot;isoflavone&quot;, &quot;Phytoestrogen&quot;, &quot;soy&quot;, &quot;genistin&quot;, and &quot;PCa&quot;.Results: Isoflavones do not play an important role on prostate-specific antigen levels reduction in PCa patients or healthy men.The effect ofisoflavones on sex hormone levels and PCa risk may be determined by equol converting bacteria in the intestine, specific polymorphic variation and concentrations of isoflavones.The intake of various types of phytoestrogens with lower concentrations in the daily diet may produce synergistic effects against PCa.Moreover, prostate tissue may concentrate isoflavones to potentially anti-carcinogenic levels.In addition, it is noteworthy that isoflavones may act as an agonist in PCa.Conclusions: Isoflavones play a protective role against the development of PCa.However, careful consideration should be given when isoflavones are used in the prevention and treatment of PCa. 展开更多
