This study examined lightning activity and its relationship to precipitation and convective available potential energy (CAPE) in South China during 2001-12, based on data from the Guangdong Lightning Location System...This study examined lightning activity and its relationship to precipitation and convective available potential energy (CAPE) in South China during 2001-12, based on data from the Guangdong Lightning Location System, the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission satellite, and the ERA-Interim dataset. Two areas of high lightning density are identified: one over the Pearl River Delta, and the other to the north of Leizhou Peninsula. Large peak-current cloud-to-ground (LPCCG) lightning (〉75 kA) shows weaker land-offshore contrasts than total CG lightning, in which negative cloud-to-ground (NCG) lightning occurs more prominently than positive cloud-to-ground (PCG) lightning on land, While the frequency of total CG lightning shows a main peak in June and a second peak in August, the LPCCG lightning over land shows only a single peak in June. The ratio of positive LPCCG to total lightning is significantly greater during February-April than during other times of the year. Diurnally, CG lightning over land shows only one peak in the afternoon, whereas CG lightning offshore shows morning and afternoon peaks. The rain yield per flash is on the order of 107-108 kg per flash across the analysis region, and its spatial distribution is opposite to that of lightning density. Our data show that lightning activity over land is more sensitive than that over offshore waters to CAPE. The relationships between lightning activity and both precipitation and CAPE are associated with convection activity in the analysis region.展开更多
Pu-erh ripen tea becomes popular worldwide owing to its unique taste and aroma.In the present study,volatile compounds from Pu-erh ripen tea were extracted using a solvent assisted flavor evaporation(SAFE)and analyzed...Pu-erh ripen tea becomes popular worldwide owing to its unique taste and aroma.In the present study,volatile compounds from Pu-erh ripen tea were extracted using a solvent assisted flavor evaporation(SAFE)and analyzed with a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)and a gas chromatography olfactometry(GC-O).Results demonstrated that 58 major volatile compounds and 24 aroma active substances of Pu-erh ripen tea were identified by GC-MS and GC-O analysis.Among volatile compounds identified,methoxyphenyl compounds were considered as the dominate compounds in the aroma of Pu-erh ripen tea.Further investigation showed that 6 methoxybenzenes were responsible for the aging aroma in Pu-erh ripen tea;α-ionone,3,4-dimethoxytoluene,1,3-dimethoxybenzene,etc.were responsible for the wood-like aroma.Linalool,α-terpineol,α-ionone,β-ionone,and benzeneacetaldehyde were responsible for the floral odor.Compared the odor detection threshold(ODT)among the 8 methoxyphenyl compounds in water,1,2,3-trimethoxybenzene showed the highest ODT,followed by 3,4-dimethoxyphenol.1,3-dimethoxybenzene(105μg/L)and 1,2,3-trimethoxy-5-methylbenzene(100μg/L)were present at relatively low odor threshold values.The result indicated that methoxyphenyl compounds play a vital role in the unique flavor of Pu-erh ripen tea.展开更多
Electronic structures, which play a key role in determining electrical and optical properties of π-conjugated organic materials, have attracted tremendous interest. Efficient thermoelectric (TE) conversion of organic...Electronic structures, which play a key role in determining electrical and optical properties of π-conjugated organic materials, have attracted tremendous interest. Efficient thermoelectric (TE) conversion of organic materials has rigorous requirements on electronic structures. Recently, the rational design and precise modulation of electronic structures have exhibited great potential in exploring state-of-the-art organic TE materials. This review focuses on the regulation of electronic structures of organic materials toward efficient TE conversion. First, we present the basic knowledge regarding electronic structures and the requirements for efficient TE conversion of organic materials, followed by a brief introduction of commonly used methods for electronic structure characterization. Next, we highlight the key strategies of electronic structure engineering for high-performance organic TE materials. Finally, an overview of the electronic structure engineering of organic TE materials, along with current challenges and future research directions, are provided.展开更多

The recent research achievements about the mechanisms of beneficial health effects of tea polyphenols and the epidemiological investigation on anti-cancer,anti-cardiovascular diseases,and anti-obesity through tea cons...The recent research achievements about the mechanisms of beneficial health effects of tea polyphenols and the epidemiological investigation on anti-cancer,anti-cardiovascular diseases,and anti-obesity through tea consumption were reviewed.It is proved that reactive oxygen species is the main reason to induce cell mutation,DNA damage,obesity,high blood pressure and many kinds of cancers.Tea catechins and theaflavins have excellent bioactivity on scavenging ROS due to their characteristic structure feature of phenolic hydroxyl group,which means drinking tea could prevent diseases.Epidemidogical investigations also showed that tea consumption could reduce the risk of lung cancer,gastric cancer,bladder cancer,and so on.However,the frequency of tea drinking or tea consumption amounts significantly affected the prevention efficiency.The epidemiologic investigations also find that drink green tea,especial black tea is useful to modify the cardiovascular diseases.In vivo and vitro tests showed that tea supplement could moderate the metabolism of blood lipid and prevent obesity.These indicated that tea and tea extracts might reduce the risk of many diseases.展开更多
Aberrant changes in the gut microbiota are implicated in many diseases,including inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Gut microbes produce diverse metabolites that can shape the immune system and impact the intestinal barr...Aberrant changes in the gut microbiota are implicated in many diseases,including inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Gut microbes produce diverse metabolites that can shape the immune system and impact the intestinal barrier integrity,indicating that microbe-mediated modulation may be a promising strategy for preventing and treating IBD.Although fecal microbiota transplantation and probiotic supplementation are well-established IBD therapies,novel chemical agents that are safe and exert strong effects on the gut microbiota are urgently needed.Herein,we report the total synthesis of heudelotinone and the discovery of 5S-heudelotinone(an enantiomer)as a potent agent against experimental colitis that acts by modulating the gut microbiota.5S-Heudelotinone alters the diversity and composition of the gut microbiota and increases the concentration of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs);thus,it regulates the intestinal immune system by reducing proinflammatory immune cell numbers,and maintains intestinal mucosal integrity by modulating tight junctions(TJs).Moreover,5S-heudelotinone(2)ameliorates colitis-associated colorectal cancer(CAC)in an azoxymethane(AOM)/dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced in situ carcinoma model.Together,these findings reveal the potential of a novel natural product,namely,5S-heudelotinone,to control intestinal inflammation and highlight that this product is a safe and effective candidate for the treatment of IBD and CAC.展开更多
Aberrant expression of circular RNAs(circ RNAs)is frequently linked to colorectal cancer(CRC).Here,we identified circ ZFR as a promising biomarker for CRC diagnosis and prognosis.Circ ZFR was upregulated in CRC tissue...Aberrant expression of circular RNAs(circ RNAs)is frequently linked to colorectal cancer(CRC).Here,we identified circ ZFR as a promising biomarker for CRC diagnosis and prognosis.Circ ZFR was upregulated in CRC tissues and serum exosomes and its level was linked to cancer incidence,advanced-stages,and metastasis.In both in vitro and in vivo settings,circ ZFR promoted the growth and spread while suppressing apoptosis of CRC.Exosomes with circ ZFR overexpression promoted the proliferation and migration of cocultured CRC cells.Mechanistically,epithelial splicing regulatory protein 1(ESRP1)in CRC cells may enhance the production of circ ZFR.BCL2-associated transcription factor 1(BCLAF1)bound to circ ZFR,which prevented its ubiquitinated degradation.Additionally,circ ZFR sponged mi R-3127-5p to boost rhotekin 2(RTKN2)expression.Our TCP1-CD-QDs nanocarrier was able to carry and deliver circ ZFR si RNA(si-circ ZFR)to the vasculature of CRC tissues and cells,which inhibited the growth of tumors in patient-derived xenograft(PDX)models.Taken together,our results show that circ ZFR is an oncogenic circ RNA,which promotes the development and spread of CRC in a BCLAF1 and mi R-3127-5p-dependent manner.Circ ZFR is a possible serum biopsy marker for the diagnosis and a desirable target for further treatment of CRC.展开更多

The effects of cyclic numbers and long time annealing on the microstructure and mechanical propertie...The microstructure and mechanical properties of medium carbon steel after cyclic heat treatment were in- vestigated. The effects of cyclic numbers and long time annealing on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the experimental steel were compared. A short duration (5 min) holding at 1023 K (above A1 temperature) and a short-duration (3 min) holding at 893 K are adopted in each cyclic heat treatment. The spheroidization is accelerated during cyclic heat treatment, and the spheroidizing ratio grows with cyclic numbers. After 12-cycle heat treatments, there are few incompletely spheroidized regions in the specimens, and cementite lamellae mostly change into cement- ite particles. The morphological character of cementite for 12 cycles is similar to that undergoing annealing for 10 h at 973 K. The strength of the experimental steel after 5-cycle heat treatment is the lowest in the following cyclic heat treatment, but it is still higher than that of specimens with subcritical annealing over a long period (10 h). After 12- cycle heat treatment, the strength of the experimental steel is close to that of the normalized steel, and the plasticity is the best in all heat treated specimens.展开更多

Characteristics of the granpel microphysics and vertical air motion associated with the lightning initiation are revealed, which could be useful in retrieving charge strength during lightning when no charge^diseharge model is available, The results show that the vertical air motion at the lightning initiation sites (Wini) has a cubic polynomial correlation with the maximum updraft of the storm cell (WceH_m^x), with the adjusted regression coefficient R2 of ap- proximately 0.97. Meanwhile, the graupel mixing ratio at the lightning initiation sites (qg-ini) has a linear correlation with the maximum graupel mixing ratio of the storm cell (qg-cell-max) and the initiation height (Zini), with the coeffi- cients being 0.86 and 0.85, respectively. These linear correlations are more significant during the middle and late stages of lightning activity. A zero-charge zone, namely, the area with very low net charge density between the main positive and negative charge layers, appears above the area of qg-oewm and below the upper edge of the granpel re- gion, and is found to be an important area for lightning initiation. Inside the zero-charge zone, large electric intensity forms, and the ratio of qice (ice crystal mixing ratio) to qg (graupel mixing ratio) illustrates an exponential relation- ship to qg-ini. These relationships provide valuable clues to more accurately locating the high-risk area of lightning initiation in thunderstorms when only dual-polarization radar data or outputs from numerical models without char- ging/discharging schemes are available. The results can also help understand the environmental conditions at light- ning initiation sites.展开更多

With continuous enhancement of gas-turbine inlet temperature and rapid increase of radiant heat transfer,thermal barrier coating(TBC)materials with a combination of low thermal conductivity and good high-temperature t...With continuous enhancement of gas-turbine inlet temperature and rapid increase of radiant heat transfer,thermal barrier coating(TBC)materials with a combination of low thermal conductivity and good high-temperature thermal radiation shielding performance play vital roles in ensuring the durability of metallic blades.However,yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ),as the state-of-the-art TBC and current industry standard,is unable to meet such demands since it is almost translucent to high-temperature thermal radiation.Besides,poor corrosion resistance of YSZ to molten calcia-magnesia-alumina-silicates(CMAS)also impedes its application in sand,dust,or volcanic ash laden environments.In order to improve the hightemperature thermal radiation shielding performance and CMAS resistance of YSZ and further reduce its thermal conductivity,two medium-entropy(ME)oxide ceramics,ME(Y,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)and ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2),were designed and prepared by pressureless sintering of binary powder compacts in this work.ME(Y,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)presents cubic structure but a trace amount of secondary phase,while ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)displays a combination of tetragonal phase(81.6 wt.%)and cubic phase(18.4 wt.%).Both ME(Y,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)and ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)possess better high-temperature thermal radiation shielding performance than YSZ.Especially,the high-temperature thermal radiation shielding performance of ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)is superior to that of ME(Y,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)due to its narrower band gap and correspondingly higher infrared absorbance(above 0.7)at the waveband of 1 to 5μm.The two ME oxides also display significantly lower thermal conductivity than YSZ and close thermal expansion coefficients(TECs)to YSZ and Ni-based superalloys.In addition,the two ME oxides possess excellent CMAS resistance.After attack by molten CMAS at 1250℃for 4 h,merely~2μm thick penetration layer has been formed and the structure below the penetration layer is still intact.These results demonstrate that ME(Me,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)(Me=Y and Ta),especially ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2),are promising thermal barrier materials for high-temperature thermal radiation shielding and CMAS blocking.展开更多

文摘Aberrant changes in the gut microbiota are implicated in many diseases,including inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Gut microbes produce diverse metabolites that can shape the immune system and impact the intestinal barrier integrity,indicating that microbe-mediated modulation may be a promising strategy for preventing and treating IBD.Although fecal microbiota transplantation and probiotic supplementation are well-established IBD therapies,novel chemical agents that are safe and exert strong effects on the gut microbiota are urgently needed.Herein,we report the total synthesis of heudelotinone and the discovery of 5S-heudelotinone(an enantiomer)as a potent agent against experimental colitis that acts by modulating the gut microbiota.5S-Heudelotinone alters the diversity and composition of the gut microbiota and increases the concentration of short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs);thus,it regulates the intestinal immune system by reducing proinflammatory immune cell numbers,and maintains intestinal mucosal integrity by modulating tight junctions(TJs).Moreover,5S-heudelotinone(2)ameliorates colitis-associated colorectal cancer(CAC)in an azoxymethane(AOM)/dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced in situ carcinoma model.Together,these findings reveal the potential of a novel natural product,namely,5S-heudelotinone,to control intestinal inflammation and highlight that this product is a safe and effective candidate for the treatment of IBD and CAC.

文摘Aberrant expression of circular RNAs(circ RNAs)is frequently linked to colorectal cancer(CRC).Here,we identified circ ZFR as a promising biomarker for CRC diagnosis and prognosis.Circ ZFR was upregulated in CRC tissues and serum exosomes and its level was linked to cancer incidence,advanced-stages,and metastasis.In both in vitro and in vivo settings,circ ZFR promoted the growth and spread while suppressing apoptosis of CRC.Exosomes with circ ZFR overexpression promoted the proliferation and migration of cocultured CRC cells.Mechanistically,epithelial splicing regulatory protein 1(ESRP1)in CRC cells may enhance the production of circ ZFR.BCL2-associated transcription factor 1(BCLAF1)bound to circ ZFR,which prevented its ubiquitinated degradation.Additionally,circ ZFR sponged mi R-3127-5p to boost rhotekin 2(RTKN2)expression.Our TCP1-CD-QDs nanocarrier was able to carry and deliver circ ZFR si RNA(si-circ ZFR)to the vasculature of CRC tissues and cells,which inhibited the growth of tumors in patient-derived xenograft(PDX)models.Taken together,our results show that circ ZFR is an oncogenic circ RNA,which promotes the development and spread of CRC in a BCLAF1 and mi R-3127-5p-dependent manner.Circ ZFR is a possible serum biopsy marker for the diagnosis and a desirable target for further treatment of CRC.

文摘Surface charge transfer doping of graphene plays an important role in graphene-based electronics due to its simplicity,high doping efficiency,and easy-controllability.Here,we demonstrate the effective surface charge transfer hole doping of graphene by using a strong p-type molecular dopant hexacyanotrimethylene-cyclopropane (CN6-CP).The CN6-CP exhibits a very high intrinsic work function of 6.37 e V,which facilitates remarkable electron transfer from graphene to CN6-CP as revealed by in situ photoelectron spectroscopy investigations.Consequently,hole accumulation appears in the graphene layer at the direct contact with CN6-CP.As evidenced by Hall effect measurements,the areal hole density of graphene significantly increased from 8.3×10^(12)cm^(-2) to 2.21×10^(13)cm^(-2) upon 6 nm CN6-CP evaporation.The CN6-CP acceptor with strong p-doping effect has great implications for both graphene-based and organic electronics.

文摘Dear Editor,Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli(EHEC)0157:H7,a major diarrheagenic pathogen,can cause bloody diarrhea,hemorrhagic colitis,and>90%of hemolytic uremic syndrome in humans(Mead and Griffin,1998).Many previous studies have demonstrated that 0157:H7 could disrupt host ubiquitin(Ub)system by delivering virulence effectors into host cells with the type III secretion system(T3SS).NleL(also named EspX7)emerged as one of such effectors,whose E3-like activity was first identified in vitro in 2011(Lin et al.,2011).

文摘The microstructure and mechanical properties of medium carbon steel after cyclic heat treatment were in- vestigated. The effects of cyclic numbers and long time annealing on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the experimental steel were compared. A short duration (5 min) holding at 1023 K (above A1 temperature) and a short-duration (3 min) holding at 893 K are adopted in each cyclic heat treatment. The spheroidization is accelerated during cyclic heat treatment, and the spheroidizing ratio grows with cyclic numbers. After 12-cycle heat treatments, there are few incompletely spheroidized regions in the specimens, and cementite lamellae mostly change into cement- ite particles. The morphological character of cementite for 12 cycles is similar to that undergoing annealing for 10 h at 973 K. The strength of the experimental steel after 5-cycle heat treatment is the lowest in the following cyclic heat treatment, but it is still higher than that of specimens with subcritical annealing over a long period (10 h). After 12- cycle heat treatment, the strength of the experimental steel is close to that of the normalized steel, and the plasticity is the best in all heat treated specimens.

文摘In this paper, the author first introduces the concept of generalized algebraic cone metric spaces and some elementary results concerning generalized algebraic cone metric spaces. Next, by using these results, some new fixed point theorems on generalized(complete) algebraic cone metric spaces are proved and an example is given. As a consequence, the main results generalize the corresponding results in complete algebraic cone metric spaces and generalized complete metric spaces.

文摘A three-dimensional charge^lischarge numerical model is used, in a semi-idealized mode, to simulate a thunder- storm cell. Characteristics of the granpel microphysics and vertical air motion associated with the lightning initiation are revealed, which could be useful in retrieving charge strength during lightning when no charge^diseharge model is available, The results show that the vertical air motion at the lightning initiation sites (Wini) has a cubic polynomial correlation with the maximum updraft of the storm cell (WceH_m^x), with the adjusted regression coefficient R2 of ap- proximately 0.97. Meanwhile, the graupel mixing ratio at the lightning initiation sites (qg-ini) has a linear correlation with the maximum graupel mixing ratio of the storm cell (qg-cell-max) and the initiation height (Zini), with the coeffi- cients being 0.86 and 0.85, respectively. These linear correlations are more significant during the middle and late stages of lightning activity. A zero-charge zone, namely, the area with very low net charge density between the main positive and negative charge layers, appears above the area of qg-oewm and below the upper edge of the granpel re- gion, and is found to be an important area for lightning initiation. Inside the zero-charge zone, large electric intensity forms, and the ratio of qice (ice crystal mixing ratio) to qg (graupel mixing ratio) illustrates an exponential relation- ship to qg-ini. These relationships provide valuable clues to more accurately locating the high-risk area of lightning initiation in thunderstorms when only dual-polarization radar data or outputs from numerical models without char- ging/discharging schemes are available. The results can also help understand the environmental conditions at light- ning initiation sites.

文摘With continuous enhancement of gas-turbine inlet temperature and rapid increase of radiant heat transfer,thermal barrier coating(TBC)materials with a combination of low thermal conductivity and good high-temperature thermal radiation shielding performance play vital roles in ensuring the durability of metallic blades.However,yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ),as the state-of-the-art TBC and current industry standard,is unable to meet such demands since it is almost translucent to high-temperature thermal radiation.Besides,poor corrosion resistance of YSZ to molten calcia-magnesia-alumina-silicates(CMAS)also impedes its application in sand,dust,or volcanic ash laden environments.In order to improve the hightemperature thermal radiation shielding performance and CMAS resistance of YSZ and further reduce its thermal conductivity,two medium-entropy(ME)oxide ceramics,ME(Y,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)and ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2),were designed and prepared by pressureless sintering of binary powder compacts in this work.ME(Y,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)presents cubic structure but a trace amount of secondary phase,while ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)displays a combination of tetragonal phase(81.6 wt.%)and cubic phase(18.4 wt.%).Both ME(Y,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)and ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)possess better high-temperature thermal radiation shielding performance than YSZ.Especially,the high-temperature thermal radiation shielding performance of ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)is superior to that of ME(Y,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)due to its narrower band gap and correspondingly higher infrared absorbance(above 0.7)at the waveband of 1 to 5μm.The two ME oxides also display significantly lower thermal conductivity than YSZ and close thermal expansion coefficients(TECs)to YSZ and Ni-based superalloys.In addition,the two ME oxides possess excellent CMAS resistance.After attack by molten CMAS at 1250℃for 4 h,merely~2μm thick penetration layer has been formed and the structure below the penetration layer is still intact.These results demonstrate that ME(Me,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2)(Me=Y and Ta),especially ME(Ta,Ti)_(0.1)(Zr,Hf,Ce)_(0.9)O_(2),are promising thermal barrier materials for high-temperature thermal radiation shielding and CMAS blocking.

文摘We introduce and study property T and strong property T for unital*-homomorphisms between two unital C^*-algebras.We also consider the relations between property T and invariant subspaces for some canonical unital^-representations.As a corollary,we show that when G is a discrete group,G is finite if and only if G is amenable and the inclusion map i:Cr^*(G)→B(l^2(G))has property T.We also give some new equivalent forms of property T for countable discrete groups and strong property T for unital C^*-algebras.
