SINGULAR PERTURBATION OF BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM OF SYSTEMS FOR QUASILINEAR ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUAT1ONS

In this paper,we study the singular perturbation of boundary value problem of systemsfor quasilinear ordinary differential equations:x′=f(t,x,y,ε),εy″=g(t,x,y,ε)y′+h(t,x,y,ε),x(0,ε)=A(ε),y(0,ε)=Bε,y(1,ε)=C(ε)where xf.y,h,A,B and C belong to R″and a is a diagonal matrix.Under the appropriateassumptions,using the technique of diagonalization and the theory of differentialinequalities we obtain the existence of solution and its componentwise uniformly validasymptotic estimation.

BCKLUND TRANSFORMATIONS FOR THE EQUATION~2u/x^1x^1+~2u/x^2x^2=f(u)

B(?)cklund transformations for the equation a^2u/ax^1ax^1+a^2u/ax^2ax^2=f(u)(here fis an arbitrary function)is studied in this paper,using the procedure of Wahlquist andEstabrook(WEP).We conclude that the condition d^2f/du^2=λf is sufficient for theexistence of Backlund transformations for the equation of our interest.A special case of ourresults leads to the conclusion of Leibbrandt.

NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF 1-D UNSTEADY TWO-PHASE FLOWS WITH SHOCKS

In the present paper, random-choice method (RCM) and second-order GRP difference method, which are high resolution methods used for pure gas flows with shocks, are extended and employed to study the problem of one-dimensional unsteady two-phase flows. The two-phase shock wave and the flow field behind it in a dusty gas shock tube are calculated and the time-dependent change of the fiow parameters for the gas antiparticle phase are obtained. The numerical results indicate that both the two methods can give the relaxation structure of the two-phase shocks with a sharp discontinuous front and that the GRP method has the advantages of less time-consuming and higher accuracy over the RCM method.

INCOMPATIBLE CURVED QUADRILATERAL PLATE BENDING ELEMENT WITH 12-DEGREES OF FREEDOM

This paper presents a new curved quadrilateral plate element with12-degree freedom by the exact element method.The method can be used to arbitrary non-positive and positive definite partial differential equations without variation principle.Using this method,the compatibility conditions between element can be treated very easily,if displacements and stress resultants are continuous at nodes between elements.The displacements and stress resultants obtained by the present method can converge to exact solution and have the second order convergence speed.Numerical examples are given at the end of this paper,which show the excellent precision and efficiency of the new element.

THE NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF TURBULENT FLOWS OF NEWTONIAN AND A SORT OF NON-NEWTONIAN FLUID IN 180-DEGREE SQUARE SECTIONED BEND

Using k-εmodel of turbulence and measured wall functions.turbulent flows ofNewtonian(pure water)and a sort of non-Newtonian fluid(dilute,drag-reduction solutionof polymer in a180-degree curved bend were simulated numerically.The calculated resultsagreed well with the measured velocity profiles.On the basis of calculation andmeasurement,appropriateness of turbulence model to complicated flow in which the large-scale vortex exists was analyzed and discussed.

TOPOLOGICAL DEGREE THEORY AND FIXED POINT THEOREMS IN PROBABILISTIC METRIC SPACES

The Leray-Schauder topological degree theory is established in the probabilistic linearnormed spaces.Based.on this theory,some fixed point theorems for mappings in theprobabilistic linear normed spaces are shown.

CONSOLIDATION THEORY OF UNSATURATED SOIL BASED ON THE THEORY OF MIXTURE(Ⅱ)

The present paper uses the mathematics model for consolidation of unsaturatedsoil developed in ref.[1]to solve boundary value problems.The analytical solutionsfor one-dimensional consolidation problem are gained by making use of Laplacetransform and finite Fourier transform.The displacement and the pore water pressureas well as the pore gas pressure are found from governing equations simultaneously.The theoretical formulae of coefficient and degree of consolidation are also given inthe paper.With the help of the method of Galerkin Weighted Residuals,the finiteelement equations for two-dimensional consolidation problem are derived.A FORTRANprogram named CSU8 using8-node isoparameter element is designed.A plane strainconsolidation problem is solved using the program,and some distinguishing features onconsolidation of unsaturated soil and certain peculiarities on numerical analysis arerevealed.These achievements make it convenient to apply the theory proposed by theauthor in engineering practice.

QUASI-VARIATIONAL INEQUALITIES AND SOCIAL EQUILIBRIUM

A quasi-variational inequality is proved in paracompact setting which generalizes theresults of Zhou Chen and Aubin.As applications,two existence theorems on the solutions ofoptimization problems and social equilibria ofmetagames are showed which improve andextend the recent results of Kaczynski-Zeidan and Aubin.

THE METHOD OF THE RECIPROCAL THEOREM OF FORCED VIBRATION FOR THE ELASTIC THIN RECTANGULAR PLATES(Ⅰ)—RECTANGULAR PLATES WITH FOUR CLAMPED EDGES AND WITH THREE CLAMPED EDGES

In this paper the method of the reciprocal theorem(MRT)is extended to solve thesteady state responses of rectangular plates under harmonic disturbing forces.A series ofthe closed solutions of rectangular plates with various boundary conditions are given andthe tables and figures which have practical value are provided.MRT is a simple,convement and general method for solving the steady state responsesof rectangular plates under vartous harmonic disturbing forces.The paper contains three parts:(Ⅰ)rectangular plates with four clamped edges andwith three clamped edges:(Ⅱ)rectangular.plates with two adjacent clamped edges:(Ⅲ)cantilever plates.We are going to publish them one after another.

ON THE SINGULAR PERTURBATION OF A NONLINEAR ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION WITH TWO PARAMETERS

In this paper,the method of differential inequalities has been applied to study theboundary value problems of nonlinear ordinary differential equation with two parameters.The asymptotic solutions have been found and the remainders have been estimated.

VIBRATION PROBLEMS OF FLEXIBLE CIRCULAR PLATES WITH INITIAL DEFLECTION

In this paper,the differential equations of flexible circular plates with initialdeflection are derived.The stability of motion is investigated in phase plane.Theperiodical solutions of nonlinear vibration for circular plates with initial deflection areobtained by use of Galerkin method and Lindstedt-Poincare perturbation method.Theeffect of initial deflection on the dynamic behavior of the flexible plates are alsodiscussed.

CONSOLIDATION HEORY OF UNSATURATED SOIL BASED ON THE THEORY OF MIXTURE(Ⅰ)

Unsaturated soil is a three-phase media and is composed of soil grain,water andgas.In this paper,the consolidation problem of unsaturated soil is investigated basedon the theory of mixture.A theoretical formula of effective stress on anisotropicporous media and unsaturated soil is derived.The principle of effective stress and theprinciple of Curie symmetry are taken as two fundamental constitutive principles ofunsaturated soil.A mathematical model of consolidation of unsaturated soil isproposed,which consists of25 partial differenfial equations with25 unknowns.Withthe help of increament linearizing method,the model is reduced to5 governingequations with5 unknowns,i.e.,the three displacement components of solid phase,thepore water pressure and the pore gas pressure.7 material parameters are involved inthe model and all of them can be measured using soil tests.It is convenient to use themodel to engineering practice.The well known Biot’s theory is a special case of themodel.

NONLINEAR BENDING OF THE SHALLOW SPHERICAL SHELLS WITH VARIABLE THICKNESS UNDER AXISYMMETRICAL LOADS

Based on the differential equation of the nonlinear bending of shallow sphericalshells with variable thickness under axisymmetrical loads,this paper studies thenumerical solution of the nonlinear differential equation by means of interpolatingmatrix method.The analysis of the results indicates that the suggested method is easyto implement and obtains the same high accuracy for both the displacements and theinternal forces.

A STUDY ON YIELD AND FLOW OF ORTHOTROPIC MATERIALS

On the assumption that the yield criterion of orthotropic materials is isomorphic withHuber-Mises criterion of isotropic materials,we put forward a dimensionless stress yieldcriterion,and obtained the associated plastic flow law.Using experimental stress-straincurves in various simple stress states,generalized effective stress-strain formulae may bederived correspondingly in various forms.
