Carcinosarcoma is a very aggressive neoplasm. Co nsequently, c-kit expression may have significant clinical implications for thi s tumor. The purpose of the present study was to assess ckit expression in the c arcinomatous and sarcomatous element of carcinosarcoma to identify if KIT repres ents a therapeutic target for treatment of this neoplasm. Immunohistochemical st aining for c-KIT was performed on paraffin-embedded tissue blocks of 20 consec utive uterine specimens with carcinosarcoma, 40 with endometrial carcinoma, and 12 with atrophic endometrium. Two pathologists assessed the scoring index of sta ining. In the stromal element of carcinosarcoma, no immunohistochemically c-KIT stained cells were observed and in the epithelial element, a low scoring index of staining was present. In endometrial endometrioid carcinoma, the scoring inde x was high in only 15%of the specimens. In the atrophic endometrium, a low scor ing index was seen in all specimens. Our results seem to suggest that c-kit pro bably plays no major role in the pathogenesis of the majority of these tumors wh ile it may be involved in the pathogenesis of some endometrial carcinomas. In vi ew of the multiple molecular targets that are activated by imatinib mesylate, no definitive conclusions can be drawn with regard its effectiveness in carcinosar comas based on the present study. Further studies of c-kit expression in larger series of carcinosarcomas in order to settle the controversial issues with rega rd to frequency of expression, prognostic, and clinical value are warranted.展开更多
Vertically orientated TiO2 nanotube array with diameters ranging from 60 up to 80 nm and length of 4 μm was grown on titanium by anodization.Crack initiation,propagation and saturation were studied using the substrat...Vertically orientated TiO2 nanotube array with diameters ranging from 60 up to 80 nm and length of 4 μm was grown on titanium by anodization.Crack initiation,propagation and saturation were studied using the substrate straining test.The results show that annealing obviously modifies the interfaces.With the increase of tensile strain,cracks in TiO2 nanotube films propagate rapidly and reach the saturation within a narrow strain gap.Interfacial shear strengths of TiO2 nanotube films without annealing,with 250 ℃ annealing and with 400 ℃ annealing can be estimated as 163.3,370.2 and 684.5 MPa,respectively.The critical energy release rates of TiO2 nanotube films are calculated as 49.6,102.6 and 392.7 J/m2,respectively.The fracture toughnesses of TiO2 nanotube films are estimated as 0.996,1.433 and 2.803 MPa-m1/2,respectively.The interfacial bonding mechanism of TiO2 nanotube film is chemical bonding.展开更多

On the basis of analyses of the chargedensity and exchangeable ion composition on the surfaces of soil particles in the suspensions, andof the characters of the EC-field strength curves of the various suspensions, it was inferred thatthe increment of EC (ΔEC) and/or relative electrical conductivity (REC) can indicate the bondingstrength between cations and soil particles. The bonding strengths of various cations with the soilsdiminished in the order: K^+ > Zn^(2+) > Mg^(2+) = Ca^(2+) > Na^+ for latosol, Ca^(2+) > Zn^(2+) >Mg^(2+) = K^+ > Na^+ for yellow-brown soil, and Zn^(2+) ≥ Ca^(2+) ≥ Mg^(2+) > K^+ > Na^+ for blacksoil.展开更多

Acarbose, a potent α-glucosidase inhibitor, is widely used as an oral anti-diabetic drug for the treatment of the type 2, non-insulin-dependent diabetes. In this work, a gel type strong acid cation exchange resin 001...Acarbose, a potent α-glucosidase inhibitor, is widely used as an oral anti-diabetic drug for the treatment of the type 2, non-insulin-dependent diabetes. In this work, a gel type strong acid cation exchange resin 001×4 was applied to isolate acarbose from fermentation broth. It was demonstrated that cation exchanger 001×4 displayed a large adsorption capacity and quick exchange rate for acarbose. The static adsorption equilibrium data were well fitted to the Langmuir equation. Column adsorption experiments demonstrated that high dynamic adsorption capacity was reached at bed height of 104.4 mm, feed flow rate of 1.0 ml·min 1and acarbose concentration of 4.0 mg·ml 1.Under the optimized conditions, the column chromatography packed with cation exchanger 001×4 recovered 74.3%(by mass) of acarbose from Actinoplanes utahensis ZJB-08196 fermentation broth with purity of 80.1%(by mass),demonstrating great potential in the practical applications in acarbose separation.展开更多
