Understanding the dynamic traffic and usage characteristics of data services in cellular networks is important for optimising network resources and improving user experience.Recent studies have illustrated traffic characteristics from specific perspectives,such as user behaviour,device type,and applications.In this paper,we present the results of our study from a different perspective,namely service providers,to reveal the traffic characteristics of cellular data networks.Our study is based on traffic data collected over a five-day period from a leading mobile operator's core network in China.We propose a Zipf-like model to characterise the distributions of the traffic volume,subscribers,and requests among service providers.Nine distinct diurnal traffic patterns of service providers are identified by formulating and solving a time series clustering problem.Our work differs from previous related works in that we perform measurements on a large quantity of data covering 2.2 billion traffic records,and we first explore the traffic patterns of thousands of service providers.Results of our study present mobile Internet participants with a better understanding of the traffic and usage characteristics of service providers,which play a critical role in the mobile Internet era. 展开更多

A number of finite element simulations were performed to analyze the in-plane crushing behaviour of aluminium honeycombs and the results are presented and discussed. The simulations include both X1 and X2 cases. All the analyses are quasi-static, and can be divided into three groups, which are designed to investigate the effects of cell size, foil thickness and yield stress of the foil material, respectively, on the structural response of honeycombs. The result indicates that these factors can significantly affect the plateau stresses of honeycomb cellular structures in both directions, and the plateau stresses in X2 direction are slightly smaller than those in X1 direction. The simulation results were further compared with published theoretical predictions and show higher values. The difference was then analyzed and a new expression for the plateau stress of honeycombs was suggested. 展开更多

We study an anyon model in a toric honeycomb lattice. The ground states and the low-lying excitations coincide with those of Kitaev toric code model and then the excitations obey mutual semionic statistics. This model is helpful to understand the toric code of anyons in a more symmetric way. On the other hand, there is a direct relation between this toric honeycomb model and a boundary coupled Ising chain array in a square lattice via Jordan-Wigner transformation. We discuss the equivalence between these two models in the low-lying sector and realize these anyon excitations in a conventional fermion system. The analysis for the ground state degeneracy in the last section can also be thought of as a complementarity of our previous work [Phys. A: Math. Theor. 43 (2010) 105306]. 展开更多

In order to expand the cell coverage of wireless cellular systems, the number of passive components in wireless systems has been substantially increased. There can be many passive intermodulation(PIM) pointsources even in a device or a radio link, which may add up constructively or destructively. A modified point-source model with lossy components is proposed to evaluate the superposition effect of the forward and refl ected PIM in case of series connection. The index of the series connection factor(SCF) is employed for systems that incorporate multiple PIM sources to predict the important characteristics of the cumulative PIM, such as the maximum and minimum values and the limit form. Furthermore, some initial experimental results are given out and the deviation in the above-mentioned prediction is also analyzed. 展开更多

In this paper, we address one of the issues in the frequency assignment problem for cellular mobile networks in which we intend to minimize the interference levels when assigning frequencies from a limited frequency spectrum. In order to satisfy the increasing demand in such cellular mobile networks, we use a hybrid approach consisting of a Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO) combined with a Tabu Search(TS) algorithm. This approach takes both advantages of PSO efficiency in global optimization and TS in avoiding the premature convergence that would lead PSO to stagnate in a local minimum. Moreover, we propose a new efficient, simple, and inexpensive model for storing and evaluating solution's assignment. The purpose of this model reduces the solution's storage volume as well as the computations required to evaluate thesesolutions in comparison with the classical model. Our simulation results on the most known benchmarking instances prove the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm in comparison with previous related works in terms of convergence rate, the number of iterations, the solution storage volume and the running time required to converge to the optimal solution. 展开更多

We address problems in the development of large-scale flotation columns that use short cylinders. As a starting point, we investigated the packing medium to identify a highly efficient internal packing for the flotation column. The chosen packing was a honeycomb structure with an aperture diameter of 80 mm, a web thickness of 0.80 mm, a film height of 1000 mm, packed into a 400 mm diameter space, which completely filled the vessel at optimal cost. The column consisted of a modular ring of single-hole hexagonal honeycomb tube packing made from atactic polyproplene (PP-R). The packing was tested in a cyclonic, static micro-bubble flotation column. Computational fluid dynamic modeling was used to analyze the flotation fluid in a honeycomb tube packed flotation column. Our results show that the fluid axial movement was maximized and that the transverse fluid velocities were zero in the vicinity of axial flow. Using the honeycomb tube packing for copper sulfide flotation we observed that the average concentration in the product was increased to 25.41%, from an average feed concentration of 0.729%, with an average recovery of 92.92%. Recent emergence of diverse services have led to explosive traffic growth in cellular data networks. Understanding the service dynamics in large cellular networks is important for network design, trouble shooting, quality of service(Qo E) support, and resource allocation. In this paper, we present our study to reveal the distributions and temporal patterns of different services in cellular data network from two different perspectives, namely service request times and service duration. Our study is based on big traffic data, which is parsed to readable records by our Hadoop-based packet parsing platform, captured over a week-long period from a tier-1 mobile operator's network in China. We propose a Zipf's ranked model to characterize the distributions of traffic volume, packet, request times and duration of cellular services. Two-stage method(Self-Organizing Map combined with kmeans) is first used to cluster time series of service into four request patterns and three duration patterns. These seven patterns are combined together to better understand the fine-grained temporal patterns of service in cellular network. Results of our distribution models and temporal patterns present cellular network operators with a better understanding of the request and duration characteristics of service, which of great importance in network design, service generation and resource allocation. 展开更多

The natural convective heat transfer performance and thermo-fluidic characteristics of honeycombs with/without chimney extensions are numerically investigated.The present numerical simulations are validated by the purposely-designed experimental measurements on honeycombs with/without chimney.Good agreement between numerical simulation and experimental measurement is obtained.The influences of inclination angle and geometric parameters such as cell shape,streamwise and spanwise length are also numerically quantified.With the increment in inclination angle,the overall heat transfer rate decreases for the honeycombs with/without chimney.For honeycombs with the same void volume fraction but different cell shapes,there is little difference on the overall heat transfer rate.To enhance the natural convective heat transfer of honeycombs,these techniques including increasing the length of honeycomb in the streamwise/spanwise direction,increasing the thermal conductivity of hon-eycomb structure or adding a chimney extension may be helpful. 展开更多

Liquid phase is treated with Eulerian framework as a mixture containing minute cavitating bubbles. Vapor phase consists of various sizes of minute vapor bubbles, which is distributed to classes based on their mass. The change of bubble number density for each class was solved by considering the change of bubble mass due to phase change as well as generation of new bubbles due to heterogeneous nucleation. In this method the mass of bubbles is treated as an independent variable, in other word, a new coordinate, and dependant variables are solved in Eulerian framework for spatial coordinates and bubble-mass coordinate. The present method is applied to a cavitating flow in a convergent-divergent nozzle, and the two-phase flow with bubble size distribution and phase change was successfully predicted. 展开更多
