The BOPPPS model has been widely used in information-based teaching reform,which emphasizes studentcentered principles and student participation and interaction,including six steps:bridge-in,objective,pre-assessment,participatory learning,post-assessment,and summary.This paper applies the BOPPPS model in the Integrated English course at the three stages of teaching practice-before class,during class,and after class-to achieve blended teaching.It shows that this teaching mode provides students with a more abundant learning experience,helps to stimulate students’learning interests,and improves their comprehensive language application skills. 展开更多

English writing, as a basic language skill for second language learners, is being paid close attention to. How to achieve better results in English teaching and how to develop students' writing competence remain an arduous task for English teachers. This paper introduces three writing approaches that are currently popular in English writing teaching field, i.e., the product approach, the process approach and the genre approach, and offers some discussion on the three approaches each approach shows its strengths and weaknesses, but meanwhile they are largely complementary. Then this paper attempts to propose an integrated approach which is not only a synthesis of the above three approaches, but also draws on some experiences of traditional Chinese language teaching methods. 展开更多

Following the pilot reform by colleges and universities in Beijing, some colleges and universities in Shanghai will also initiate college English teaching reform program this fall. According to SCETFR (Shanghai College English Teaching Frame of Reference), the core of the new round of reform is to replace the traditional integral or comprehensive English with academic English, and through which to strive to improve students' English language ability in academic study and profession, and help them build a strong competence in international exchanges and competitions.
