(Gd,Lu)_(2)O_(3)∶Eu scintillation ceramics have promising applications in the high-energy X-ray imaging.Eu0.1Gd0.6Lu1.3O3 nano-powders with pure phase were prepared from the precursor calcined at 1050℃for 4 h by the...(Gd,Lu)_(2)O_(3)∶Eu scintillation ceramics have promising applications in the high-energy X-ray imaging.Eu0.1Gd0.6Lu1.3O3 nano-powders with pure phase were prepared from the precursor calcined at 1050℃for 4 h by the co-precipitation method.Using the synthesized nano-powders as initial material,Eu_(0.1)Gd_(0.6)Lu_(1.3)O_(3)ceramics were fabri-cated by vacuum pre-sintering at different temperatures for 2 h and hot isostatic pressing(HIP)at 1750℃for 3 h in ar-gon.The influence of pre-sintering temperature on the microstructure,optical and luminescence properties was investi-gated.The Eu_(0.1)Gd_(0.6)Lu_(1.3)O_(3)ceramics pre-sintered at 1625℃for 2 h combined with HIP post-treatment show the high-est in-line transmittance of 75.2%at 611 nm.The photoluminescence(PL)and X-ray excited luminescence(XEL)spectra of the Eu_(0.1)Gd_(0.6)Lu_(1.3)O_(3)transparent ceramics demonstrate a strong red emission peak at 611 nm due to the^(5)D_(0)→^(7)F_(2) transition of Eu^(3+).The PL,PLE and XEL intensities of the HIP post-treated Eu_(0.1)Gd_(0.6)Lu_(1.3)O_(3)ceramics show a trend of first ascending and then descending with the increase of pre-sintering temperature.The thermally stimulated lumines-cence(TSL)curve of the HIP post-treated Eu_(0.1)Gd_(0.6)Lu_(1.3)O_(3)ceramics presents one high peak at 178 K and two peaks with lower intensities at 253 K and 320 K.The peak at 320 K may be related to oxygen vacancies,and the lumines-cence peak at 178 K is related to defects caused by the valence state changes of Eu^(3+)ions.展开更多
In this paper,effect of two strategies on afterglow behavior of Lu_(2)O_(3):Eu single crystal scintillato r,Pr^(3+)codoping and solid solution with Sc_(2)O_(3),were studied systematically.Two groups of Lu_(2)O_(3):5 a...In this paper,effect of two strategies on afterglow behavior of Lu_(2)O_(3):Eu single crystal scintillato r,Pr^(3+)codoping and solid solution with Sc_(2)O_(3),were studied systematically.Two groups of Lu_(2)O_(3):5 at%Eu,x at%Pr(x=0,0.2,0.5,1,2 and 5)and(Lu1-yScy)_(2)O_(3):5 at%Eu(y=0,20 at%,50 at%and 70 at%)single crystals were grown by floating zone(FZ)method in air atmosphere.The structures of as-grown crystals were determined by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The scintillation,photoluminescence properties and carrier trap states were investigated through afterglow,X-ray excitation luminescence(XEL),transmittance,photoluminescence excitation(PLE)and photoluminescence(PL),PL decay and thermal stimulated luminescence(TSL)curves.It is found that with the increase of Pr^(3+)concentration,the afterglow level of the system decreases at the expense of scintillation luminescence efficiency.Meanwhile,although Sc_(2)O_(3):Eu presents much lower afterglow intensity than Lu_(2)O_(3):Eu,the addition of Sc_(2)O_(3)will just increase the afterglow level of the(Lu1-yScy)_(2)O_(3):5 at%Eu single crystal system.Possible mechanisms for above phenomena are discussed based on experimental results.展开更多
Ce doped Lu_(3)Al_(5)O_(12)(Ce:LuAG)transparent ceramics are considered as promising color converters for solid-state lighting because of their excellent luminous efficiency,high thermal quenching temperature,and good...Ce doped Lu_(3)Al_(5)O_(12)(Ce:LuAG)transparent ceramics are considered as promising color converters for solid-state lighting because of their excellent luminous efficiency,high thermal quenching temperature,and good thermal stability.However,Ce:LuAG ceramics mainly emit green light.The shortage of red light as well as the expensive price of Lu compounds are hindering their application for white lighting.In this work,transparent(Lu,Gd)_(3)Al_(5)O_(12)–Al_(2)O_(3)(LuGAG–Al_(2)O_(3))nanoceramics with different replacing contents of Gd^(3+)(10%–50%)were successfully elaborated via a glass-crystallization method.The obtained ceramics with full nanoscale grains are composed of the main LuGAG crystalline phase and secondary Al_(2)O_(3) phase,exhibiting eminent transparency of 81.0%@780 nm.After doping by Ce^(3+),the Ce:LuGAG–Al_(2)O_(3) nanoceramics show a significant red shift(510 nm→550 nm)and make up for the deficiency of red light component in the emission spectrum.The Ce:LuAG–Al_(2)O_(3) nanoceramics with 20%Gd^(3+)show high internal quantum efficiency(81.5%in internal quantum efficiency(IQE),96.7%of Ce:LuAG–Al_(2)O_(3) nanoceramics)and good thermal stability(only 9%loss in IQE at 150℃).When combined with blue LED chips(10 W),0.3%Ce:LuGAG–Al_(2)O_(3) nanoceramics with 20%Gd^(3+)successfully realize the high-quality warm white LED lighting with a color coordinate of(0.3566,0.435),a color temperature of 4347 K,CRI of 67.7,and a luminous efficiency of 175.8 lm·W^(−1).When the transparent 0.3%Ce:LuGAG–Al_(2)O_(3) nanoceramics are excited by blue laser(5 W·mm^(−2)),the emission peak position redshifts from 517 to 570 nm,the emitted light exhibits a continuous change from green light to yellow light,and then to orange-yellow light,and the maximum luminous efficiency is up to 234.49 lm·W^(−1)(20%Gd^(3+)).Taking into account the high quantum efficiency,good thermal stability,and excellent and adjustable luminous properties,the transparent Ce:LuGAG–Al_(2)O_(3) nanoceramics with different Gd^(3+)substitution contents in this paper are believed to be promising candidates for high-power white LED/LD lighting.展开更多
We report on a power-scalable sub-100-fs laser in the 2-μm spectral range using a Tm;-doped‘mixed’(Lu,Sc);O;sesquioxide ceramic as an active medium.Pulses as short as 58 fs at 2076 nm with an average output power o...We report on a power-scalable sub-100-fs laser in the 2-μm spectral range using a Tm;-doped‘mixed’(Lu,Sc);O;sesquioxide ceramic as an active medium.Pulses as short as 58 fs at 2076 nm with an average output power of 114 mW at a pulse repetition rate of approximately 82.9 MHz are generated by employing single-walled carbon nanotubes as a saturable absorber.A higher average power of 350 m W at 2075 nm is obtained at the expense of the pulse duration(65 fs).A maximum average power of 486 mW is achieved for a pulse duration of 98 fs and an optical conversion efficiency of 22.3%,representing the highest value ever reported from sub-100-fs mode-locked Tm lasers.展开更多
