Methods: We thoroughly searched Google Scholar, PUBMED, Scopus, and Web of Science databases using keywords related to migraines and lifestyle factors. Keywords incorporated the Boolean operator “and” to narrow search results. Following the PRISMA guidelines, we identified, screened, and evaluated studies for inclusion, resulting in nine studies meeting the eligibility criteria. Results: A total of 4917 records were initially identified from Scopus (2786), PubMed (854), and Web of Science (1277). Following deduplication, 3657 records underwent title screening, with 382 additionally screened by abstract. Ultimately, 88 full-text articles were assessed, resulting in 9 studies meeting eligibility for qualitative synthesis: 7 prospective and 2 retrospective studies. Our findings highlight the multifaceted role of lifestyle factors in migraine pathophysiology and management. Dietary habits, such as high-calorie, high-fat, and gluten-containing diets were linked to migraine triggers. Moderate physical activity showed beneficial effects on migraine management, while intense exercise could exacerbate symptoms. Poor sleep hygiene and insomnia were strongly associated with increased migraine frequency and severity. Chronic stress and poor mental health significantly contributed to migraine exacerbation, with stress management techniques proving beneficial. Environmental factors, including light, sound, weather changes, and allergens, were also identified as significant migraine triggers. Conclusions: Personalized lifestyle modifications, tailored to individual patient profiles, are crucial in managing migraines. Evidence-based recommendations include balanced diets, moderate physical activity, improved sleep hygiene, stress management techniques, and environmental adaptations.展开更多
BACKGROUND Patients in neurology intensive care units(ICU)are prone to pressure injuries(PU)due to factors such as severe illness,long-term bed rest,and physiological dysfunction.PU not only causes pain and complicati...BACKGROUND Patients in neurology intensive care units(ICU)are prone to pressure injuries(PU)due to factors such as severe illness,long-term bed rest,and physiological dysfunction.PU not only causes pain and complications to patients,but also increases medical burden,prolongs hospitalization time,and affects the recovery process.AIM To evaluate and optimize the effectiveness of pressure injury prevention nursing measures in neurology ICU patients.METHODS A retrospective study was conducted,and 60 patients who were admitted to the ICU of the Department of Neurology were selected and divided into an observation group and a control group according to the order of admission,with 30 people in each group.The observation group implemented pressure injury prevention and nursing measures,while the control group adopted routine care.RESULTS Comparison between observation and control groups following pressure injury prevention nursing intervention revealed significantly lower incidence rates in the observation group compared to the control group at 48 h(8.3%vs 26.7%),7 d(16.7%vs 43.3%),and 14 d(20.0%vs 50.0%).This suggests a substantial reduction in pressure injury incidence in the observation group,with the gap widening over time.Additionally,patients in the observation group exhibited quicker recovery,with a shorter average time to get out of bed(48 h vs 72 h)and a shorter average length of stay(12 d vs 15 d)compared to the control group.Furthermore,post-intervention,patients in the observation group reported significantly improved quality of life scores,including higher scores in body satisfaction,feeling and function,and comfort(both psychological and physiological),indicating enhanced overall well-being and comfort following the implementation of pressure injury prevention nursing measures.CONCLUSION Implementing pressure injury preventive care measures for neurology ICU patients will have better results.展开更多

Objective: To examine the pattern of neurological disorders among children presenting at the neurology unit of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka, Nigeria. Methods: A retrospective review of the hospital records of children who presented at the Paediatric Neurology Unit between 1st March 2020 and 31st March 2022 was carried out. Data were abstracted using a proforma and analyzed using SPSS Version 21. Results: A total of 138 children aged 0 to 15 years were seen in the unit during the period under review. 115 (83.35%) of these children were diagnosed with chronic neurological disorders. Those with chronic neurological disorders had a male:female ratio of 1.9:1, and the majority (65%) of them were below 5 years of age. The most common presenting complaints were delayed milestones (43.4%), seizures (23.8%), and speech disorders (17.2%). The most typical diagnosis was cerebral palsy (CP) (34.7%), seizure disorder (29.8%) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (8.9%). Perinatal asphyxia (47.7%), neonatal jaundice (17.0%) and central nervous system infections (CNS) infections (12.5%) were identified as the major risk factors responsible for these neurologic disorders. Conclusion: Cerebral palsy and seizure disorders constitute the major neurological disorders among children seen in our institution. Efforts should be intensified at reducing the incidence and impact of perinatal asphyxia, neonatal jaundice and CNS infections, identified as the major culprits, to curb the menace of these debilitating lifelong neurologic sequelae.展开更多

The objective of this study was to describe the prognosis of urinary sphincter disorders during neurological conditions. Methods: This was a six-month analytical study conducted at the neurological unit of the Hôpital national Ignace Deen. Including patients with urinary sphincter disorders following a neurological condition;Chi-square, Fischer, and Student’s t-tests were used for variables with a p value less than 0.10 and then included in a logistic model with a significance level set at 0.05 and a 95% confidence interval. Results: We collected 1081 patients among whom, 324 presented, that is to say a frequency of 30%, which concerned subjects aged 57.3 ± 16.4 years with a slight female predominance 50.3%. Urinary incontinence (80.6%) was associated with complications such as urinary tract infection with a high proportion of cerebral damage (92.3%). HIV infection (P = 0.015), bedsores (P = 0.049), and inhalation pneumonia (P = 0.001) were the main poor prognostic factors. Conclusion: Urinary sphincter disorders are elements of poor prognosis, both vital and functional, concerning elderly subjects with a predominance of urinary incontinence. HIV infection, bedsores, pneumopathy are poor prognostic factors.展开更多
目的 探究讲授式教学法(lecture based learning,LBL)、以问题为基础的教学方法(problem-based learning,PBL)、慕课(massive open online course,MOOC)联合翻转课堂对于临床医学专业留学生临床实习效果的影响。方法选取2018年6月-2019...目的 探究讲授式教学法(lecture based learning,LBL)、以问题为基础的教学方法(problem-based learning,PBL)、慕课(massive open online course,MOOC)联合翻转课堂对于临床医学专业留学生临床实习效果的影响。方法选取2018年6月-2019年6月在哈尔滨医科大学附属第一医院6年制临床医学毕业实习阶段留学生共80名作为研究对象,随机分成4组,每组20人,分别采用4种不同教学模式进行神经内科实习教学:1组采用LBL教学法;2组采用PBL教学法;3组采用LBL联合PBL教学法;4组采用LBL+PBL+慕课联合翻转课堂。课后向每名同学发放调查问卷以此了解学生的满意情况,实习结束以后对4组学生进行理论和临床技能综合考试。以评估留学生的临床知识掌握能力、临床技能操作能力、临床病例分析能力。结果 第4组学生临床知识掌握能力、临床技能操作能力、临床病例分析能力均高于其他3组留学生,差异有统计学意义(P <0.05);第4组学生在专业知识涵盖满意度、临床思维培养满意度、教学体验满意度3个方面评分高于其他3组学生,差异有统计学意义(P <0.05)。结论 在留学生临床实习教学中采用LBL+PBL+MOOC联合翻转课堂教学模式效果显著,能有效激发学生的主观能动性,培养学生自主学习和分析问题的能力,提高学生的学习成绩及临床知识掌握能力、临床技能操作能力、临床病例分析能力,提升整体教学效果和教学满意率。展开更多
