The effects of various gel casting process parameters such as the dispersant and solid loading on the rheology of Fe slurries, molding, and sintering behaviors were studied. The relationship between solid loading and viscidity in the process of iron base powder metallurgy was researched to obtain better microstructure and properties. The results showed that the viscosity of Fe slurries is obviously reduced with the increase of the dispersant. The suitable parameters are as follows: the solid loading is 61% and sintering temperature is 1180℃. Iron parts with relatively high density and better properties were obtained by the gel casting process. 展开更多

In this paper, M-type hexagonal barium ferrite powders are synthesized using the sol-gel method. A dried precursor heated in air is analyzed in the temperature range from 50 to 1200 ℃ using thermo-gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The effects of the additives and the cacinating temperature on the magnetic properties are investigated, and the results show that single-phase barium ferrite powders can be formed. After heat-treating at 950 ℃ for 4h with 3 wt% additive, the coercivity and saturation magnetization are found to be 440 Oe and 57.9 emu/g, respectively. 展开更多

This paper reports that a series of NiCuZn ferrite powders and films are prepared by using sol-gel method. The effects of raw material composition and the calcinate temperature on magnetic properties of them are investigated. The NiCuZn ferrite powders are prepared by the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis method and subsequently heated at 700 ℃-1000 ℃. The results show that NiCuZn ferrite powders with single spinel phase can be formed after heat-treating at 750 ℃. Powders obtained from Ni0.4Cu0.2Zn0.4Fel.904 gel have better magnetic properties than those from gels with other composition. After heat-treating at 900 ℃for 3 h, coercivity Hc and saturation magnetization Ms are 9.70e (i Oe = 80 A/m) and 72.4 emu/g, respectively. Different from the powders, NiCuZn films produced on Si (100) from the Ni0.4Cuo.2Zno.4Fe204 gel formed at room temperature possess high properties. When heat-treating condition is around 600 ℃for 6 rain, samples with low Hc and high Ms will be obtained. The minimal Hc is 16.70e and Ms is about 300 emu/cm3. In comparison with the films prepared through long-time heat treating, the films prepared through short heat-treating time exhibits better soft magnetic properties. 展开更多

Gel from washed mince (washed gel) was prepared under two setting conditions: kamaboko (40°C) and modori (60°C). The gel-forming ability of kamaboko and modori gels was improved by the addition of EW at 2%. The autolytic inhibition of kamaboko gel was obtained in gel added with 2% EW, and 1% EW of modori gel. No marked change was observed in the TCA-soluble peptide content of either gel with the addition of EW above 1%. No effect on the whiteness of both gels was shown after the addition of EW. The addition of EW exhibited smaller cavities and a more compact fibrous network in microstructure. 展开更多

The results indicate that with the annealing temperature and the doped concentration rising, the powders' particle sizes will increase and decrease respectively. Mn-Zn spinel ferrites were synthesized by sol-gel method. Effects of calcined temperature on structure and particle size of MnZnFe2O4 were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD patterns indicate that the ultra fine Mn-Zn ferrite exhibits a spinel crystal structure. SEM images show that the powder fired at 900℃for 2 h has an average diameter of 60 ~ 90 nm. The particle size becomes larger with the increasing of calcined temperature and the distribution of particle becomes even more homogeneous. Sintering behaviors of synthesized ferrite powders depend on the powder characteristics and high temperatures have induced the good crystallization of particles. 展开更多

SiC-Al2O3 composite powder was prepared by sol-gel and carbothermal reduction method. The powder synthesized was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) to confirm the phase formation, and the thermodynamic analysis was performed systematically. Moreover, the variation of its microwave permittivity with different atomic ratio of Al/Si was investigated in the frequency range of 8.2-12.4 GHz. The results show that, the powder obtained consists of spherical particles of 300-400 nm in diameter, which are composed of SiC and Al2O3 microcrystal with the grain size of approximately 45 nm. The results of XRD accord with those of the thermodynamic analysis. It is impossible for Al atoms to dissolve in the lattice of SiC during the carbothermal reduction process. Along with the increase of atomic ratio of Al/Si in the xerogel, the amount of Al2O3 in the powder synthesized increases, which reduces bothε', the real part of complex permittivity, and tgδ(ε'/ε'), the dissipation factor, whereε' is the imaginary part of complex permittivity. 展开更多

Hydroxyapatite powder was prepared by sol-gel method using the calcium nitrate tetrahydrate and pentoxide us reactant. The effects of main processing parameters such us reagent, concentration, temperature etc on the synthesis of hydroxyapatite were investigated. The synthetic mechanism was also studied. The results showed that main optimized parameters were us follows : 2 M ethanol solution of P2 05 and 4 M ethanol solution Ca( NO3 )2 ·4H2O, 12- 24 h of aging time, 500℃ sintered temperature. X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectra results showed that the mixtures were composed of amorphous hydroxyapatite, Ca ( NO3)2, PO( OH)3-x( OR)x, bellow 400℃. The pure hydroxyapatite powder were prepared at 500℃ for 30 nun. The aging of the sol influenced the purity greatly. The CaO phase was observed from the powder without aging. This process with cheap reactants was simple and the advantages offered by this process made it possible to produce the uniform fine powder in large quantity. 展开更多

With InCl 3·4H 2O being used as raw materials, the precursor of nano sized In 2O 3 powder was prepared by hydrolysis, peptization and gelation of InCl 3·4H 2O. After calcination, nano sized In 2O 3 powder was obtained. The powder was characterized by thermo gravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG DTA), X ray diffractometry (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. Calculation revealed that the mean crystalline size increased with increasing the calcination temperature, but crystal lattice distortion rate decreased with the increasing in the average crystalline size. This indicated that the smaller the particle size, the bigger the crystal lattice distortion, the worse the crystal growing. The activation energies for growth of nano sized In 2O 3 were calculated to be 4.75 kJ·mol -1 at the calcination temperature up to 500℃ and 66.40 kJ·mol -1 at the calcination temperature over 600℃. TEM photos revealed that the addition of the chemical additive (OP-10) greatly influenced the morphology and size of In 2O 3 particles. 展开更多

The effects of different preparation conditions on particle size were discussed and the optimum preparation condition was found. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scan electron microscopy and so on. The results show that the intermediate is monoclinic WO3, its particle shape is approximately spherical, and the particle size distribution is narrow. The average particle size is about 60 nm. After deoxidization, WO3 turns into cubic tungsten powder with small particle size (average particle size about 120 nm) and narrow size distribution. 展开更多

Nano-SiC powders doped by B were synthesized through the carbothermal reduction of xerogels containing the tributyl borate. The results show that the 3C-SiC with minor phase of 6H-SiC is generated at 1 700 ℃,and that there are not the characteristic peaks of any boride in the XRD patterns,which indicates that the boron is available only on the crystallization of 3C-SiC. The Raman spectra of the samples also show the characteristic bands of 3C-and 6H-SiC at 788 and 965 cm-1. But the bands at 1 345 and 1 590 cm-1 are characteristic peaks of amorphous carbon materials. The intensities of peaks at 788 and 965 cm-1 increase with B content in Raman spectra,which also shift to higher wavenumber with the increasing B. The microstructure of SiC powder is composed of agglomerated particles with diameters ranging from 30 to 100 nm. The results of dielectric property show that the sample with 0.005 B has the largest values in ε′ and ε″ among the four samples due to the existence of the intrinsic defects. But the absence of the relaxation polarization leads to low values of all the samples. 展开更多
