Four gemini cationic surfactants {N,N′-di[2-(lauryldimethylamino)acetyl]polymethylenediamine dichloride, LAA-s-LAA, s=2,3,4,6} were synthesized by using four bis(α-chloroacetamide)s and N,N-dimethyllaurylamine, respectively. The molecular structures were characterized by means of IR, ~ 1H NMR, \{~ ~13 C NMR\} and MS, and the behavior of their aqueous solutions was studied. The critical micell concentrations(CMC) of LAA-s-LAA were one order of magnitude lower than that of dodecyltrimethyl ammonium chloride(DTAC). With the change of the length of spacer chain(s), their CMC values change, and CMC reaches the top value at s=4. 展开更多

An anion-rich electric double layer(EDL)region is favorable for fabricating an inorganic-rich solid-electrolyte interphase(SEI)towards stable lithium metal anode in ester electrolyte.Herein,cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB),a cationic surfactant,is adopted to draw more anions into EDL by ionic interactions that shield the repelling force on anions during lithium plating.In situ electrochemical surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy results combined with molecular dynamics simulations validate the enrichment of NO_(3)^(−)/FSI−anions in the EDL region due to the positively charged CTA^(+).In-depth analysis of SEI structure by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry results confirmed the formation of the inorganic-rich SEI,which helps improve the kinetics of Li^(+)transfer,lower the charge transfer activation energy,and homogenize Li deposition.As a result,the Li||Li symmetric cell in the designed electrolyte displays a prolongated cycling time from 500 to 1300 h compared to that in the blank electrolyte at 0.5 mA cm^(-2) with a capacity of 1 mAh cm^(-2).Moreover,Li||LiFePO_(4) and Li||LiCoO_(2) with a high cathode mass loading of>10 mg cm^(-2) can be stably cycled over 180 cycles. 展开更多

Their critical micelle concentrations (CMC), which are 1.8×10-4 mol/L and 3.9×10-4 mol/L respectively, are much lower than that of conventional surfactant cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (CTAC). In addition, compared with some gemini surfactants containing phenylene, xylylene and stilbenyl as spacer, this new kind of surfactants has good solubility in water at room temperature because of containing more hydrophilic groups or atoms in molecules. 展开更多

The change color effect of gold nanoparticle solutions was studied by means of resonance scattering and absorption spectrometry and scan electron microscopy. The red Au nanoparticles with a size of 10 nm exhibit a resonance absorption peak and a resonance scattering peak all at 525 nm. After some inorganic electrolyte was added to a red Au nanoparticles solution, the color of the solution became blue and the absorbance at (600_700) nm was significantly increased. The ratio of the concentration of monovalent cations, at which the resonance scattering of the system at 525 nm is maximal to that of divalent cations, is in the range of 100∶1_100∶1.8. It is in good agreement with the Schulze-Hardy rule of the coagulation value of electrolyte. After adding some cationic surfactants to the above solution, the color of the solution is in deep blue, with two resonance absorption peaks at 550 and 680 nm, and a greatly enhanced resonance scattering peak at 525 nm. The experiments demonstrate that the stronger the hydrophobicity of the cationic surfactant is, the stronger the change color effect of the Au nanoparticle solution promoted by cationic surfactant is. The change color effect of Au nanoparticle solution is resulted from the increased diameter of Au nanoparticles, and the changes of resonance absorption peak and resonance scattering. 展开更多

Study on nanomaterials has attracted great interests in recent years. In this article, zirconia nanocrystallites of different structures have been successfully synthesized via hydrothermal methods with cationic surfactant (CTAB) and anionic surfactant (SDS), respectively. Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC-TG), X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-vis) and N2 adsorption-desorption analyses are used for their structure characteristics. The results show that the cationic surfactant has a distinctive direction effect on the formation of zirconia nanocrystallites, while the anionic surfactant has a self-assembly synergistic effect on them. The sample synthesized with the cationic surfactant presents good dispersion with the main phase of tetragonal zirconia, and the average nanocrystal size is around 15 nm after calcination at 500 ℃. While the sample synthesized with the anionic surfactant exhibits a worm-like mesoporous structure with pure tetragonal phase after calcination at 500 ℃ and with good thermal stability. 展开更多

In the pH 7.4 Na2HPO4-NaH2PO4 buffer solution, the cationic surfactant (CS) interacted with nanogold particles (NG) to form NG aggregations (NGA) that resulted in its color changing from wine red to blue-violet. NG has a strong catalysis on the formic acid-phosphomolybdic acid (PMo) colored reaction, but that of the NGA catalysis is weak. With the increase of CS concentration, the NGA increased and the NG decreased, the catalysis decreased and the absorption value at 700 nm decreased linearly. The concentrations of 6.25-250 nmol/L tetradecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride (TDBAC), 0.625-250 nmol/L cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTMAB) and 12.5 -500 nmol-L 1 dodecyldimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride (DDBAC) had good linear responses to the decreased absorption value (AA70o nm), with molar absorption coefficients of 2.2 × 106, 2.1 × 106 and 9 ×105 Lomol 1.cm 1 respectively. It was based on the reaction between 1-hydroxy-2-(5-nitro-2-Pyri- dylazo)-8-aminonaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid (5-NO2-PAH) and cationic surfactant to form 1:2 ionic association complex in a weakly basic medium (pH 9.44). In this paper, via the preceding preparation technique, yttrium can be successfully incorporated into nano-zirconia by a cationic surfactant-assisted route. The methods of XRD, TEM, EDS, Uv-vis and N2 adsorption-desorption are adopted to characterize the synthesized samples. The results show that the yttrium has been successfully incorporated into the zirconia lattice, and the thermal stability of yttrium doped zirconia has been enhanced remarkably. 展开更多

A viscoelastic system formed by the solutions of di(2-hydroxyl-dimethylene ether)-α,ω, y-triple ( dimethyloctadecylammonium chlorine ) ( 18-4 ( OH ) -18-4 ( OH ) -18 ) is proposed to solve the problems of poor temperature and shear resistances of clean fracturing fluid. The apparent viscosity of 18-4( OH)-18-4( OH)-18 solution affected by inorganic salt, hydrotropic salt and their mixtures is investigated using steady state measurements. Meanwhile, the temperature and shear resistances of systems of 18-4( OH)-18-4( OH)-18 and several common single-chain surfactants are compared. The rheological experiments show that, the coexistence of NaSal and NaC1 makes it easier for the system to promote micellar growth yielding wormlike micelles than single NaSal or NaC1. The apparent vis- cosity of 18-4(OH) -18-4(OH) -18 solution maintains over 87. 5 mPa-s above 100 22. The drag-reducing characteristics of a cationic surfactant solution flow in copper pipe have been investigated experimentally.The tested drag-reducing fluid was an aqueous solution of the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethyl ammonium chloride(CTAC).The experimental results show that the maximum drag reduction percentage reduces with the increase of fluid temperature at low concentration of CTAC,such as 100×10-6 or 150×10-6.Furthermore,the concentration and temperature changes of CTAC solution have significant influences on the drag-reducing ability.The drag-reducing effect of CTAC additives shows great potentials in the application in a district heating/cooling(DHC)system,especially for the radiant floor heating(RFH)system. 展开更多

In this study,a novel absorpent(MSAR600℃)with a hydrophobic surface and hierarchical porous structure for the removal of kitchen oil was facilely fabricated from the macroalgae,laver(Porphyra haitanensis)by incorpor-ating high-temperature carbonization and alkyl polyglucosides(APG)and rhamnolipid(RL)surfactants modifi-cation.The characterization results showed MSAR600℃ possessed a louts-leaf-like papillae microstructure with high contact angle(137.5°),abundant porous structure with high specific surface area(23.4 m^(2)/g),and various oxygen-containing functional groups(-OH,C=O,C-O).Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to inves-tigate the effect of adsorption time,temperature,pH,and absorbent dose on kitchen oil adsorption performance.Then the practical application for the removal of kitchen oil using MSAR600℃ was also performed.The results showed that MSAR600℃ had a higher removal efficiency for kitchen oil(75.98%),compared with the commercial detergent(72.3%).This study demonstrates an example of fabricating a green tableware detergent for enhanced removal performance of kitchen oil. 展开更多

However, their biological effects remain to be explored. In this study, we investigated the antifungal effect of BiOBr nanosheets on Candida albicans. Strikingly,the nanosheets strongly inhibited the growth of C. albicans [IC50=(96±4.7) mg/L],hyphal development and biofilm formation. Compareed to the antifungal effect of the cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, the inhibitory effect of the nanosheets on fungal pathogen was attributed to cetyltrimethylammonium bromide adsorbed by the nanosheets. Thermal gravity analysis and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide release experiment indicated that only 0.42% cetyltrimethylammonium bromide on BiOBr nanosheets was released. Taken together, this study uncovers the contribution of surfactant released from the nanosheets to their antifungal activity. 展开更多

The first pilot test of polyacrylamide microsphere alternate surfactant flood(PMAS)with mixtures of anionic-cationic surfactants(Sa/c)was carried out for a high-temperature,high-salinity,and highhardness sandstone reservoir to demonstrate the potential of this novel technique to improve oil recovery.A critical micelle concentration(CMC)of 4.82 mg/L,an ultralow interfacial tension(IFT)of 8104 mN/m,and a high oil solubilization of 22 were obtained.Static and dynamic adsorptions of Sa/c on natural core containing 15 wt%clay were reduced to about 2.20 and 0.30 mg/g-core,respectively,with the addition of adsorption inhibitor(AI).Since June 2014,the pilot test of PMAS was carried out in a Sinopec reservoir with a temperature of 87C,a salinity of 260,393 mg/L,and a hardness of 6,401 mg/L.Twelve cycles of alternative injection of 0.0125 PV Sa/c with a concentration of 0.1%and 0.0125 PV polyacrylamide microsphere with a concentration of 0.2%were conducted at an injection rate of 0.1 PV/yr,for a total of 0.3 PV chemical injection.As a result,the net daily oil production increased from 0 t to 6.5 t,and the water cut decreased from 96.3%to 93.8%,leading to an ultimate improved oil recovery of 6.3%original oil-in-place. 展开更多

The as-obtained fluorinated cationic surfactants exhibited excellent surface properties, all of them can reduce the surface tension of water to below 20.00mN/m at the critical micelle concentrations (CMC). The incorporation of SDS, AOS, APG or LAB into 2-(4-(3,3,4,4,5,5,5-heptafluoro- 2,2-bis(trifluoromethyl)pentyl)benzamido)-N,N-dimethylethana-mine oxide 4a could generate much lower CMC and surface tension value at the CMC than individual 4a. Especially, the surface tension values of that combined APG/4a can be reduced to 17.31 mN/m. An extraction-free spectrophotometric method for the determination of cationic surfactants, such as cetylpyridinium chloride, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide and zephiramine is proposed, which is based on the formation of ternary complexes with Fe(Ⅲ) and chrome azurol S. The molar ratio of the complex is 2:1:1 (Fe(Ⅲ):chrome azurol S:cationic surfactant). The method is simple, rapid and sensitive, giving an apparent molar absorptivity of 4.5×104 L.mol-1.cm-1 and a linear range of 0.1-6.0 umol/L cationic surfactants. The total cationic surfactant content can be determined directly in aqueous solutions by measuring the absorbance at 680 nm (pH 5.8). The method has been successfully applied to water samples. 展开更多
