METHODS The data from 8 cases (mean age, 49.4; 5 men and 3 women) who had been treated from 2004 to 2006, were reviewed retrospectively. Radiologic and pathologic documents were evaluated. For treatments, radical nephrectomy was conducted in 4 patients, partial nephrectomy in 2 and laparoscopic nephrectomy in 2. RESULTS Postoperative pathological findings confirmed the diagnosis of MCRCC. The stage of all 8 cases was pT1. For pathologic grade, 7 cases were G1 and 1 case was G2. Seven patients available for follow-up had survived tumor-free during the mean time of 8 months. CONCLUSION MCRCC is an uncommon subtype of RCC, it has a lower malignant potential and a better prognosis compared with other types of RCC. Nephron-sparing surgery may be an appropriate treatment options for MCRCC.展开更多

Surgical or radiological intervention is usually needed to alleviate these symptoms. We report a rare case of the cystic metastasis of renal cell carcinoma(RCC), which was misdiagnosed as PCLD, as a result of the clinical and radiological similarity between these disorders.CASE SUMMARY A 74-year-old female who had undergone nephrectomy for papillary-type RCC(PRCC) was suffering from abdominal pain and the recurrent intracystic hemorrhage of multiple cysts in the liver. Imaging studies and aspiration cytology of the cysts showed no evidence of malignancy. With a diagnosis of autosomal dominant polycystic liver disease, the patient received hepatectomy for the purpose of mass reduction and infectious cyst removal. Surgery was performed without complications, and the patient was discharged on postoperative day 14. Postoperatively, the pathology revealed a diagnosis of recurrent PRCC with cystic formation.CONCLUSION This case demonstrates the importance of excluding the cystic metastasis of a cancer when liver cysts are observed.展开更多

METHODS: Thirteen cases of cystic renal carcinoma confirmed by operation and pathology were examined by ultrasonography, and the cystic walls, septa and solid mural nodules were studied. RESULTS: Solid mural nodules of some cases and irregular thickening of the cystic walls and septa were characteristic findings for the ultrasonic diagnosis of cystic renal carcinomas. According to their pathologic mechanisms and sonographic features, cystic renal carcinomas were classified into 3 patterns: unilocular cystic mass, multiloculated cystic mass and cystic-solid mass. CONCLUSIONS: Typical cystic renal carcinomas can be well diagnosed, while atypical cases may be misdiagnosed as benign renal cysts by ultrasonography. Color Doppler ultrasonography and needle aspiration guided by ultrasonography are helpful in the diagnosis of these atypical cases.展开更多

This tumor can proliferate rapidly and cause cystic changes because of internal tissue necrosis. We evaluated a 54-year-old woman with right breast lump. Mammography showed a category four mass with a diameter of 2.5 cm. Ultrasonography(US) revealed a complex cystic lesion, and fine-needle aspiration(FNA) cytology demonstrated bloody fluid and malignant cells. Partial breast resection and sentinel lymph node biopsy were performed. Immunohistology revealed spindle cells with positive results for cytokeratin(AE1/AE3) and vimentin, partially positive results for s-100, and negative results for desmin and α-actin. The pathological stage was IIA, and biochemical characterization showed that the tumor was triple negative. Six courses of FEC-100 chemotherapy(5-fluorouracil 500 mg/m2, epirubicin 100 mg/m2, and cyclophosphamide 500 mg/m2) were administered. Radiotherapy was performed. This case is discussed with reference to the literature.展开更多

Methods: Effects of genistein on the growth of SACC-83 cells in vitro were measured with MTr assay. Cell cycle was detected with flow cytometry. The expressions of CyclinB1 and Cdkl proteins were measured with Western blot method, and the results of protein expression were quantitatively analyzed by FluorChem V2.0 software. The results were statistically analyzed by SPSSI 1.5 software. Results: Genistein inhibited the cell proliferation in a dose-dependant and time-dependant manner. The genistein-treated SACC-83 cells were arrested in the G2/M phase and had lower contents of CyclinB1 and Cdkl proteins compared with the control group. Conclusion: The growth inhibiting effect of genistein on SACC-83 cells may be associated with the regulations of genistein on the CyclinB1 and Cdk1 protein expressions and the cell cycle.展开更多

Protein was detected by immuno-precipitation and ERK activity by using ERK agent kit. p-ERK1/2 and down-stream cyclin D1, p21^waf/cip1 expression were detected by Western blotting and the interfering role of mitogen protein-activated kinase (MEK) suppressor U0126 in the afore-mentioned indicators was examined. MTT demonstrated ACC-2 cell proliferation was substantially enhanced by bFGF, immuo-precipitation displayed ERK activity was up-regulated by bFGF, and immuno-imprinting also showed p-ERK1/2, cyclin D1 expression was greatly enhanced and p21^waf/cip1 expression was inhibited by bFGE U0126 suppressed the effect of bFGF. It is concluded that bFGF can promote the proliferation of human adenoid cystic carcinoma ACC-2 cells, and its pathways are associated with the up-regulated activity and expression of p-ERK1/2, inhibited p21waf/cip1 expression and enhanced cyclin D1 expression.展开更多

It has an aggressive nature and shows resistance to conventional treatments, however, its clinical features are not well known because of the small number or reported cases. We report G-CSF-producing squamous cell carcinoma arising in malignant-transformed ovarian mature cystic teratoma. An 80-year-old woman underwent suboptimal surgical excision of stage IIIC ovarian cancer. Prior to the treatment, the patient presented severe granulocytosis and elevated serum G-CSF concentration. With the help of histopathological and immunohistochemical studies, we diagnosed this case to be a poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma developed in ovarian mature cystic teratoma, which highly expressed G-CSF. During radiation therapy, the patient died from rapid growth of residual tumor and peritoneal dissemination 2 months after surgery. This is the first case of G-CSF-producing squamous cell carcinoma arising in malignant-transformed ovarian mature cystic teratoma, and its prognosis was very poor.展开更多

For those who diagnose and treat RCC, it is important to understand the new developments. In recent years, many new renal tumors have been described and defined, and our understanding of the biology and clinical correlates of these tumors is changing. Evolving concepts in Xp11 translocation carcinoma, mucinous tubular and spindle cell carcinoma, multilocular cystic clear cell RCC, and carcinoma associated with neuroblastoma are addressed within this review. Tubulocystic carcinoma, thyroid-like follicular carcinoma of kidney, acquired cystic disease-associated RCC, and clear cell papillary RCC are also described. Finally, candidate entities, including RCC with t(6;11) translocation, hybrid oncocytoma/chromophobe RCC, hereditary leiomyomatosis and RCC syndrome, and renal angiomyoadenomatous tumor are reviewed. Knowledge of these new entities is important for diagnosis, treatment and subsequent prognosis. This review provides a targeted summary of new developments in RCC.展开更多

It includes the process of establishment of Acc-2 and Acc-3 cell lines, observations to the cellular morphostructures, chromosome analysis, proliferative kinetics and some cellular physiological functions. All of these observations confirm that two cell lines have obvious malignant natures, epithelial and glandulous cellular features as well as. Both of cell lines have provided the useful experimental models in vitro for research on histogenesis and biological behaviours at adenoid cystic carcinoma and seeking new methods of clinical treatment.展开更多

文摘OBJECTIVE: To study the sonographic features and patterns of cystic renal carcinomas. Color Doppler ultrasonography and needle aspiration guided by ultrasonography are helpful in the diagnosis of these atypical cases.

Conclusion: The growth inhibiting effect of genistein on SACC-83 cells may be associated with the regulations of genistein on the CyclinB1 and Cdk1 protein expressions and the cell cycle.
文摘To observe the effects of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) on human adenoid cystic carcinoma ACC-2 cell line proliferation and ERK, cyclin D1/p21^waf/cip1 signaling pathways, human adenoid cystic carcinoma cells (ACC-2) were cultured and the influence of bFGF of different concentrations on cell proliferation was determined by MTT. It is concluded that bFGF can promote the proliferation of human adenoid cystic carcinoma ACC-2 cells, and its pathways are associated with the up-regulated activity and expression of p-ERK1/2, inhibited p21waf/cip1 expression and enhanced cyclin D1 expression.
文摘Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF)-producing cancer has been reported to occur in various organs. This is the first case of G-CSF-producing squamous cell carcinoma arising in malignant-transformed ovarian mature cystic teratoma, and its prognosis was very poor.
文摘Objective To study the effects of P53, PCNA, Bc1-2 protein and their relationship in salivary adenoid cystic carclnoma(SACC). Methods These protelns were examlned by lmmunohistochemistry. Results overexpressions of Ps, and PCNA were revealed in ACC samples, they were higher than those in (polymorphous adenomas) PA, but expression of Bc1-2 protein was not different between ACC and PA. In 3 subtypes of ACC, expressions of 3 proteins were different. Conciusion Mutations of P53, Bc1-2 may be involed in the occurrence of SACC, expression of PCNA and mutation of P53 may coexist in the development of the SACC.
文摘Objective:To investigate the method and effect of nephron-sparing surgery in the treatment of small renal cell carcinoma. Methods: From August 1 997 to October 2008, 48 cases of small renal cell carcinomas were confirmed by surgery and pathology, and reviewed retrospectively. Of the 48 cases, there was 1 patient with bilateral tumors, 8 with solitary kidney tumors, 1 with unilateral tumor and a damaged contralateral kidney, and 38 with unilateral tumors and a normal contralateral kidney; 9 underwent tumor enucleation and the remaining patients received partial nephrectomy. Results:There were no local tumor recurrences and/or tumor metastasis at a mean followup of 60 months. Conclusion: Confirming conclusions from other centers, we have found that nephron-sparing surgery is an effective treatment for small renal cell carcinomas.
文摘Our knowledge of renal cell carcinoma(RCC) is rapidly expanding. This review provides a targeted summary of new developments in RCC.

文摘To evaluate the role of salidroside on proliferation, apoptosis and invasiveness of salivary gland adenoid cystic carcinoma cells(SACC),immunocytochemical staining was employed to detect proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA),caspase 3 and caspase 8 expression in SACC-2 cells.Modified Boyden chamber assay combined with laser confocal microscopy(LSCM) was used to evaluate the invasion and migration abilities of SACC-2 cells at different time point.Immunohistochemistry staining revealed that the expression of PCNA was significantly decreased(P0.01) after salidroside treatment. In contrast, salidroside treatment led to increased caspase 3 and caspase 8 in SACC-2 cells.Cell migration depth and number of cells that penetrated Boyden chamber were also decreased by salidroside.Salidroside potently inhibits the proliferation and simultaneously induces the apoptosis of SACC-2 cells.Migration and invasion of SACC-2 cells are also inhibited. Our data throw light on potential clinical application of salidroside to the patients with SACC.

文摘In this paper, the authors gave a synthetic report about sutdies of tissue culture on adenoid cystic carcinomas from human salivary glands. Both of cell lines have provided the useful experimental models in vitro for research on histogenesis and biological behaviours at adenoid cystic carcinoma and seeking new methods of clinical treatment.
