Based on the daily meteorological data of Bengbu City during 1981-2020,the changing characteristics of three elements needed for the calculation of the comfort index of human body(CIHB)were discussed, and daily CIHB was classified and discussed. The results show that from 1981 to 2020,annual average temperature tended to increase significantly.Annual average wind speed and relative humidity showed a decreasing trend before 2011 but an increasing trend after 2011.The duration of the four seasons in Bengbu City mainly rose in spring, reduced in winter, declined first and then increased in summer, and rose first and then decreased in autumn. As CIHB was at grades 1 and 9(the most uncomfortable),the three factors had different effects on them. For cold weather, the influence of relative humidity and wind speed on CIHB can not be ignored besides temperature. In hot weather, the influence of temperature was dominant, and the change of annual average temperature could well correspond to the change in the number of very hot days.In the context of climate warming, the number of cold days tended to decline generally, but it was larger in the years with fewer very cold days.Under the background of climate warming, there was no obvious change in the number of days of the overall comfort of human body. The number of hot days was closely related to the duration of summer, and the number of days of grade 8 rose significantly in the years with an increase in the duration of summer. 展开更多

In this work, the mass stopping power and range of protons in biological human body tissues (ovary, lung and breast) were calculated at the energy ranging from 0.04 MeV to 200 MeV using the MATLAB Program. The data relating to the densities, average atomic number to mass number  and excitation energy for the present tissues were collected from ICRU Report 46. The mass stopping power was calculated by the Bethe formula. Moreover, the simple integration (continuous slowing down approximation) method was employed for calculating protons range at the tissues. The results of the mass stopping power versus energy and the range versus energy were presented graphically and the empirical formulae for calculating the mass stopping power and the ranges were obtained. The present results for mass stopping powers and ranges were compared with the results obtained by others. Good agreements were found between them, especially at the energy ranging from 3 to 200 MeV. 展开更多

One of the most common positions for human bodies is the seated position. In this work, mathematical models of the seated human body are investigated and simulated in a Simulink/ MATLAB environment. In addition, segments of the human body are studied and models are developed and built by using Simulink/MATLAB. As part of this work, model analysis and state-space methods are used in order to check and validate the results obtained from the simulations. Two types of forces are used to test the whole seated human body under low frequency citation. The first is a sinusoidal wave signal based on literature, and the second is an impulse function. The effects of mechanical vibration on the head and lumbar are studied as these parts of the human body are usually the most effected areas. Kinematic states of the head segment and lumbar are considered. The characteristics of the vibration response on the two segments are also obtained. In addition to the me-chanical vibrations study, this paper is a resource for the development and implementation of models in the Simulink/MATLAB environment. 展开更多

[ Objective] The study aimed to forecast human body feeling temperature. [ Method] Using air temperature data outside shutter boxes of cement and asphalt underlying surface at 1.5 m and conventional observation data from 2008 to 2010 as well as T639 and Japan numerical forecast product, the characteristics of the minimum temperature in winter half year and the maximum temperature in summer half year in Changzhou were analyzed, and the prediction equation of the maximum temperature from May to September as well as year-round comfort prediction index were es- tablished. Moreover, the announcement platform of human body feeling temperature was developed to forecast it. [ Result] There remained a tiny discrepancy in the winter minimum temperature between inside and outside shutter box, and clays with the minimum temperature difference lower than 2 ℃ accounted for 94.3% of total days. However, the summer maximum temperature difference between inside and outside shutter box was larger, and days with the maximum temperature difference higher than 2 ℃ accounted for 82.0%, while the maximum difference was 5.5 ℃. The prediction accuracy of the inside maximum temperature was 78%. Wind was considered as the primary factor based on the effective temperature, and comfort index forecast and service were determined based on human feelings, dress, meteorological care and so forth. Both human body feel- ing temperature and comfort index forecast were released in the temperature forecast service. [ Condusion] The prediction of human body feeling temperature could provide scientific references for people's dress and traveling in daily life. 展开更多

We analyzed the relationships between the human body exergy balance and behavioral adaptations induced by undesirable cold storage by a building envelope under an unsteady-state thermal environment in winter. The complex interaction of the warm exergy production by shivering, lifting of the shell ratio, and reduction of the blood flow rate was considered to constitute the physiological adaptation necessary for maintaining the constant core temperature, which was an important aspect in living organisms. In the case of intermittent use room, it was suggested that better thermal comfort and desirable behavioral adaptations, which decreased the consumption of fossil fuels, could be achieved if interior wooden cladding was used in constructions with building envelopes that had a comparatively large heat capacity, or in cases of wooden constructions in which the building envelope heat capacity was comparatively small. 展开更多

In this paper we propose a novel method for building animation model of realhuman body from surface scanned data. The human model is represented by a triangular mesh anddescribed as a layered geometric model. The model consists of two layers: the control skeletongenerating body animation from motion capture data, and the simplified surface model providing anefficient representation of the skin surface shape. The skeleton is generated automatically fromsurface scanned data using the feature extraction, and then a point-to-line mapping is used to mapthe surface model onto the underlying skeleton. The resulting model enables real-time and smoothanimation by manipulation of the skeleton while maintaining the surface detail. Compared withearlier approach, the principal advantages of our approach are the automated generation of bodycontrol skeletons from the scanned data for real-time animation, and the automatic mapping andanimation of the captured human surface shape. The human model constructed in this work can be usedfor applications of ergonomic design, garment CAD, real-time simulating humans in virtual realityenvironment and so on. 展开更多

From every heartbeat to every footstep, human beings dissipate energy all the time. Researchers are trying to harvest energy from the human body and convert it into electricity, which can be supplied to electronic medical devices closely related to human health. Such an energy recycling form is currently a research hotspot in the fields of energy harvesting and bioelectronics. This review firstly summarizes the distribution and characteristics of three primary energy sources contained in the human body, including thermal energy, chemical energy, and mechanical energy. Afterwards, the applicable energy harvesting technologies and corresponding working mechanisms for different energy sources are introduced. Some typical demos and practical applications of each type of human body energy harvesting technology are also presented. Specifically, the advantages and critical issues of different energy harvesting technologies are summarized, and corresponding promising solutions are also provided. Besides, the interaction strategies between various energy harvesting devices and the human body are summarized from the aspects of wearable and implantable applications. Finally, the concept of a self-powered closed-loop bioelectronic system (SCBS) is put forward for the first time, which organically combines portable electronic devices, implantable electronic medical devices, energy harvesting devices, and the human body. The prospect of symbiosis between the SCBS and the human body is provided. The demands and future development trends of the SCBS are also discussed. 展开更多

The aim of this studies at simultaneous improvement of the corrosion behavior and biocompatibility of metallic implant and bone Osseointegration simultaneously. Stainless steel 316L (SS) was used as metallic substrate and after surface treatment with 15 vol.% sulfuric acid, it was coated with hydroxyapatite coating employing plasma - spraying process. Structure characterization techniques including XRD, SEM and EDX were also utilized to investigate the microstructure, morphology, and crystallinity of the coating. Electrochemical potentiodynamic tests were performed in two types of physiological solutions in order to determine and compare the corrosion resistance behavior of the coated and uncoated specimens as an indication of biocompatibility. The results indicate that the surface treatment and hydroxyapatite coating improve the corrosion resistance behavior of SS. The corrosion current density of the surface treated and the hydroxyapatite coated SS also decrease. These also show that surface treated and hydroxyapatite coated SS can be used as human body implants with the goals of corrosion resistance improvement (biocompatibility) and bone osseointegration. 展开更多

Landmarks on human body models are of great significance for applications such as digital anthropometry and clothing design. The diversity of pose and shape of human body models and the semantic gap make landmarking a challenging problem.Inthis paper,a learning-based method is proposed to locate landmarks on human body models by analyzing the relationship between geometric descriptors and semantic labels of landmarks.A shape alignmentalgorithm is proposed to align human body models to break symmetric ambiguity.A symmetry-awaredescriptor is proposed based on the structure of the human body models, which is robust to both pose and shape variations in human body models.AnAdaBoost regression algorithm is adopted to establish the correspondence between several descriptors and semantic labels of the landmarks.Quantitative and qualitative analyses and comparisons show that the proposed method can obtain more accurate landmarks and distinguish symmetrical landmarks semantically.Additionally,a dataset of landmarked human body models is also provided, containing 271 human body models collected from current human body datasets;each model has 17 landmarks labeled manually. 展开更多

This paper presents a multi-person vision tracking approach based on human body localization features to address the problem of interactive object localization and tracking in a home monitoring scenario.Firstly, the human body localization model is used to obtain the 3D position of the human body, which is then used to construct the human body motion model based on the Kalman filter method. At the same time, the human appearance model is constructed by fusing human color features and features of the histogram of oriented gradient to better characterize the human body.Secondly, the human body observation model is constructed based on the human body motion model and appearance model to measure the similarities between the human body state sequence in the historical frame and the human body observation result in the current frame, and the cost matrix is then obtained.Thirdly, the Hungarian maximum matching algorithm is employed to match each human body in the current and historical frames, and the exception detection mechanism is simultaneously constructed to further reduce the probability of human tracking and matching failure. Finally,a multi-person vision tracking verification platform was constructed, and the achieved average accuracy was 96.6%in the case of human body overlapping, occlusion, disappearance, and appearance;this verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

Investigation of the vertical vibration characteristics of the seated human body is beneficial for the design and development of vehicle ride comfort. In this study,we first established models of the seated human body with two, three and four degrees of freedom(DOF).Then, the vibration characteristics of 30 volunteers were tested under standard conditions with a vibration test rig to obtain data for the apparent mass, driving point mechanical impedance, and seat-to-head transfer function.Based on the experimental data, the parameters of these models are identified and the results show that the four-DOF model can simulate the vertical vibration characteristics of the seated human body more comprehensively. Then, different seated human body models were applied to optimize the damping of shock absorber. The results show that the optimized damping with the four-DOF Chinese seated human body model is 27%more than that with rigid mass and 7%less than that with ISO 5982:2001 seated human body model. 展开更多

Prompt radiation emitted during accelerator operation poses a significant health risk, necessitating a thorough search and securing of hazardous areas prior to initiation.Currently, manual sweep methods are employed. However, the limitations of manual sweeps have become increasingly evident with the implementation of large-scale accelerators.By leveraging advancements in machine vision technology, the automatic identification of stranded personnel in controlled areas through camera imagery presents a viable solution for efficient search and security.Given the criticality of personal safety for stranded individuals, search and security processes must be sufficiently reliable. To ensure comprehensive coverage,180°camera groups were strategically positioned on both sides of the accelerator tunnel to eliminate blind spots within the monitoring range. The YOLOV8 network model was modified to enable the detection of small targets, such as hands and feet,as well as larger targets formed by individuals near the cameras.Furthermore, the system incorporates a pedestrian recognition model that detects human body parts, and an information fusion strategy is used to integrate the detected head, hands, and feet with the identified pedestrians as a cohesive unit. This strategy enhanced the capability of the model to identify pedestrians obstructed by equipment, resulting in a notable improvement in the recall rate.Specifically, recall rates of 0.915 and 0.82were obtained for Datasets 1 and 2,respectively.Although there was a slight decrease in accuracy,it aligned with the intended purpose of the search-and-secure software design.Experimental tests conducted within an accelerator tunnel demonstrated the effectiveness of this approach in achieving reliable recognition outcomes. 展开更多

This paper proposes a novel flexible antenna design operating at very high frequency(VHF)band for on-body applications such as human body communication(HBC).The antenna consists of back-to-back E-shaped fractal and complimentary structures designed over a thin flex-ible substrate. The overall design working on the principle of fractal geometries and capacitive coupling is highly beneficial to achieve better antenna characteristics even at low frequencies around 35 MHz-45 MHz that are being used for HBC application. The proposed antenna obtained a large bandwidth of around 10.0 MHz in air and a bandwidth of around 8.0 MHz during on-body opera-tion.The antenna has been tested in three different scenarios viz.air,on-body single antenna and on-body communication using two antennas. The insertion loss is reduced to a minimum in all three scenarios, which is quite beneficial for better signal transmission. The size miniaturization with high flexibility in such low frequencies has also been achieved in the paper that makes the proposed design suitable for human body communication applications. 展开更多
