A thorough theoretical analysis of the destination buffer for smoothing the jitter of the real time service in MANET is given. The theoretical results are applied in moderate populated ad hoc networks in our simulation, the simulation results show that by predicting and adjusting destination buffer in our way, Jitter will be alleviated in large part and this will contribute much to the quality of service (QOS) in MANET. 展开更多

Mode switch between SFN and PTP for multicast services in LTE networks

The multimedia broadcast and multicast services (MBMS) in 3GPP LTE is characterized by multicast broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN) operation. The multicast services are transmitted by single frequency network (SFN) mode, and the unicast services are delivered with point-to-point (PTP) mode. To minimize the demanded radio resources for multicast services in the LTE, a novel mode switch (MS) between SFN and PTP for multicast services is proposed. MS takes into account PTP mode for multicast services and the switch is based on the handover threshold. To solve the minimization problem, MS adapts the handover threshold with the difference in the demanded radio resources between SFN mode and PTP mode for multicast services. The simulation results show that the proposed MS achieves less demanded radio resources than SFN mode for all the multicast services. 展开更多

With the development of cloud-based data centers and multimedia technologies, cloud-based multimedia service systems have been paid more and more attention. Audio highlights detection plays an important role in the cloud-based multimedia service system. In this paper, we proposed a novel highlight detection method to extract the audio highlight effects for the cloud-based multimedia service system using the unsupervised approach. In the proposed method, we first extract the audio features for each audio document. Then the spectral clustering scheme was used to decompose the audio document into several audio effects. Then, we introduce the TF-IDF method to label the highlight effect. We design some experiments to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, and the experimental results show that our method can achieve satisfying results. 展开更多

An improved delay priority resource scheduling algorithm with low packet loss rate for multimedia broadcast multicast service(MBMS)in long term evolution(LTE)systems is proposed in this paper.Real-time services in LTE systems require lower delay and packet loss rate.However,it is difficult to meet the QoS requirements of real-time services using the current MBMS resource scheduling algorithm.The proposed algorithm in this paper jointly considers user delay information and real-time channel conditions.By introducing the user delay information,the lower delay and fairness of users are guaranteed.Meanwhile,by considering the channel conditions of users,the packet loss rate can be effectively reduced,improving the system throughput.Simulation results show that under the premise of ensuring the delay requirements of real-time services,the proposed algorithm achieves a lower packet loss rate compared to other existing algorithms.Furthermore,it can achieve a good balance between system throughput and user fairness. 展开更多

An improved spectrum-efficient and fair resource scheduling algorithm for multimedia broadcast multicast service(MBMS)in long term evolution(LTE)systems is proposed in this paper.By jointly considering the channel conditions of all the users,the average packet loss rate,and the fairness of users in the MBMS group,the transmission data rate of the MBMS group is first selected according to the link adaptation and the average packet loss rate of users.Then,the resource blocks are allocated to MBMS groups according to the scheduling priority.Such a resource scheduling algorithm further balances the system throughput and user fairness.Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve a good tradeoff between system throughput and user fairness in comparison with traditional scheduling algorithms. 展开更多

Recently,the fifth-generation(5G)of wireless networks mainly focuses on the terrestrial applications.However,the well-developed emerging technologies in 5G are hardly applied to the maritime communications,resulting from the lack of communication infrastructure deployed on the vast ocean,as well as different characteristics of wireless propagation environment over the sea and maritime user distribution.To satisfy the expected plethora of broadband communications and multimedia applications on the ocean,a brand-new maritime information network with a comprehensive coverage capacity in terms of all-hour,all-weather,and all-sea-area has been expected as a revolutionary paradigm to extend the terrestrial capacity of enhanced broadband,massive access,ultra-reliable,and low-latency to the vast ocean.Further considering the limited available resource of maritime communication infrastructure,the convergence of broadband and broadcast/multicast can be regarded as a possible yet practical solution for realizing an efficient and flexible resource configuration with high quality of services.Moreover,according to such multi-functionality and all-coverage maritime information network,the monitoring and sensing of vast ocean area relying on massive Ocean of Things and advanced radar techniques can be also supported.Concerning these issues above,this study proposes a Software Defined Networking(SDN)based Maritime Giant Cellular Network(MagicNet)architecture for broadband and multimedia services.Based on this network,the convergence techniques of broadband and broadcast/multicast,and their supporting for maritime monitoring and marine sensing are also introduced and surveyed. 展开更多
