OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of Nao Yikang on expression of choline acetyltransferase (CHAT) and caspase-3 in the rat brains of an experimental Alzheimer's disease (AD) model, and to investigate the mechanisms of potential neuroprotective effects. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled experiment was performed at the Department of Pathophysiology, Medical School of Nantong University between November 2006 and December 2007. MATERIALS: The main active components of Nao Yikang were as follows: prepared polygonum multiflorum, Rhizoma anemarrhenae, and Rhizoma acori tatarinowii. Nao Yikang granules were prepared by Nantong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Ibotenic acid (IBO) was purchased from Sigma-Aldrich, USA, ChAT goat anti-rat antibody from Chemicon, USA, and cleaved caspase-3 rabbit anti-rat (Asp175) (5A1) antibody from Cell Signaling, USA. METHODS: A total of 60 male, Sprague Dawley rats (2 months old) were randomly assigned to 6 groups: sham-surgery, model, Nao Yikang 1.73, 3.45, 6.90 g/kg per day, and piracetam, with 10 rats in each group. Bilateral infusions of 5 pg IBO into the nucleus basalis of Meynert were performed with Hamilton syringe and stereotaxic apparatus for AD model establishment. For the sham-surgery group, rats received 1 μL saline in the identical stereotaxic position. From the second day, Nao Yikang groups were administrated 1.73, 3.45, and 6.90 g/kg per day Nao Yikang, respectively, while the piracetam group received 0.04 g/mL piracetam, the model group received 0.5% sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, and the sham-surgery group received normal saline. Rats were intragastrically administered 1 mL/100 g daily for 28 consecutive days. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Following treatment of the various solutions for 28 days, Western blot was utilized to observe ChAT expression in the frontal cortex of AD rats, and immunohistochemistry was applied to quantify caspase-3-positive cells in the frontal cortex. RESULTS: ChAT protein expression significantly decreased in the model group (P 〈 0.01), however caspase-3 expression was significantly elevated (P 〈 0.01) compared with the sham-surgery group. Compared with the model group, ChAT protein expression increased in the Nao Yikang 1.73 g/kg per day, 3.45 g/kg per day, 6.90 g/kg per day groups, and the piracetam group (P 〈 0.05 or P 〈 0.01) and the number of caspase-3-positive cells decreased in the Nao Yikang 3.45 g/kg per day and 6.90 g/kg per day groups (P 〈 0.01). However, there was no change in the number of caspase-3-positive cells in the 3.45 g/kg per day group. CONCLUSION: The traditional Chinese medicine compound Nao Yikang increased ChAT protein expression and suppressed caspase-3 expression in the frontal cortex in a dose-dependent manner.展开更多

Except those in the sham operation control group, all other rats were replicated to ICH models by stereotactical injection of collagenase type Ⅶ into their globus pallidus. After modeling, the rats in the NYA-treated group were administered with NYA at the dosage of 4. 92 g·kg-1·d-1 by gastrogavage, while those in the other two groups, 4 ml distilled water were given instead. The behavioral test was used to evaluate neurological deficit and immunohistochemical method was used to detect Nestin expression, the special marker for neural stem cells. Results: The ICH animals showed notable placing deficit in forlimbs from day 1 to day 28 after modeling. The deficit in the NYA-treated group was similar to that of the ICH group, but the former got recovered better than the latter from day 21 to 28, with significant difference shown ( P<0.05). Nestin-positive cells (N+ cells) could be seen around the hemotoma from day 2 on in the ICH group, the number of which gradually increased from day 4 to 7 ( P< 0.01) and reached the peak on day 14 (P<0.05), but reduced significantly on day 28 (P<0.01). Compared with that of the ICH group at the same time points , there was no significant difference in number of N+ cells in the NYA group on day 2 and 4, but it reached the peak earlier on day 7(P<0.01),with the level significantly higher than that in the ICH group( P<0. 01), and this high level lasted to day 14. Conclusion: NYA could promote the recovery of behavioral deficit in collagenase type Ⅶ-induced ICH rats, and increase the number of nestin-immunoreactive NSCs, suggesting that its effect on NSCs may be one of its pharmaceutical mechanisms in treating ICH.展开更多

During the positive phase of NAO, the Asian subtropical westerly jet intensifies and the India-Myanmar trough deepens. Both of these processes enhance ascending motion over the TP. The intensified upward motion, together with strengthened southerlies upstream of the India-Myanmar trough, favors stronger snowfall over the TP, which is associated with East Asian tropospheric cooling in the subsequent late spring (April-May). Hence, the decadal increase of winter snow depth over the TP after the late 1970s is proposed to be an indicator of the connection between the enhanced winter NAO and late spring tropospheric cooling over East Asia.展开更多

However, few studies focus on HIV-related heterosexual risk behaviours among the majority Yi population. The objectives of this study were to explore the characteristics of an egocentric sexual network and estimate the prevalence of casual sexual behaviour. Yi villagers (n= 108), aged 15-35 years, who reported having had sex within the previous year were interviewed as to their sexual behaviours and networks. In-depth interviews and focus group discussions provided supplementary information on sexual norms. Logistic regression analysis was used to calculate unadjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Most of the respondents reported having had casual sex at some time in their life, and 66.7% reported multiple sexual partnerships. Only 21.3% reported ever having used a condom. During the study year, a total of 137 partners were involved in 153 sexual partnerships. Among the reported sexual partnerships, 67.3% originated from a casual sexual relationship. For network members in components of size ≥3, 56,9% were involved in concurrent sexual partnerships. Having never been married (OR: 2.11; 95% CI: 1.03-4.33) and younger age (OR: 0.89; 95% CI: 0.83-0.95) were both associated with being in a component of size ≥3. Size (OR: 2.99; 95% Ch 1.17-7.66), pair (OR: 0.54; 95% Ch 0.039-0.74), the number of weak components of the egocentric sexual network (OR- 30.04; 95% Ch 6.47-139.46) and gender (OR. 0. 19; 95% Ch. 0.06-0.67) were all associated with being in concurrent sexual partnerships. HIV-related interventions for the Yi ethnic minority in Sichuan province must therefore address concurrent sexual partnerships and promote condom use.展开更多

It is clearly shown that both the amplitudes of the NAO and NPO increase obviously in the 1960’s and the main period of the oscillations changes from 3-4 years before the 1960’s to 8–15 years after the 1960’s. Therefore, interdecadal climate variation in China or the climate jump in the 1960’s is closely related to the anomalies of the NAO and NPO. However, it remains unexplored whether the correlation persists if the study period is extended backward in time, a different definition of violent conflict is applied, or the relationship is examined at lower geographic levels. In this study, we based on 835 internal disturbance incidents in Europe during 1049–1800 to conduct long-temporal and multi-scalar examination on the NAO-conflict nexus. ′Time-series′ and ′panel data′ disaggregation approaches, together with Granger Causality, Multiple Regression, and Survival Analyses were applied to verify the nexus quantitatively. Results show that the positive NAO-conflict correlation was significant at the continent and physiographic zone levels. During the positive NAO phases, the annual probability of internal disturbance outbreak increased by 70.0% in the southern Europe and the Mediterranean, a zone most affected by the NAO-induced desiccation effect. Yet, the NAO-conflict correlation was rather inconsistent when it was downscaled to the sub-regional level. Moreover, the NAO-conflict correlation was inflated under the time-series approach, while the panel data approach demonstrated the region-specific nature of the NAO forcing more clearly. The associated implications in examining climate-conflict nexus are discussed. Our findings may be crucial in examining violent conflict in the northwestern Africa, a highly agricultural region affected by the NAO.展开更多

Generally, it is related to wind speed, sea surface temperature (SST), and sea ice cover. In this study, we analyzed the distributions of and correlations between SST, wind speed, NAO, and sea ice cover from 2003 to 2009 in the Greenland Sea at 10°W to 10°E, 65°N to 80°N. SST reached its peak in July, while wind speed reached its minimum in July. Seasonal variability of SST and wind speed was different for different regions. SST and wind speed mainly had negative correlations. Detailed correlation research was focused on the 75~N to 80~N band. Regression analysis shows that in this band, the variation of SST lagged three months behind that of wind speed Ice cover and NAO had a positive correlation, and the correlation coefficient between ice cover and NAO in the year 2007 was 0.61 SST and NAO also had a positive correlation, and SST influenced NAO one month in advance. The correlation coefficients between SST and NAO reached 0.944 for the year 2005, 0.7 for the year 2008, and 0.74 for the year 2009 after shifting SST one month later. NAO also had a positive correlation with wind speed, and it also influenced wind speed one month in advance. The correlation coefficients between NAO and wind speed reached 0.783, 0.813, and 0.818 for the years 2004, 2005, and 2008, respectively, after shifting wind speed one month earlier.展开更多

Methods A cross-sectional study of 2 358 Yi farmers and 2 392 Yi migrants was carried out in the Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture, Sichuan, China in 2007. Results The standardized prevalence of overweight in female Yi farmers (6.22%) was higher than in males (3.25%), whereas in Yi migrants 32.56% of males and 28.78% of females were overweight. The standardized prevalence of obesity was 0 and 0.62% in male and female Yi farmers, compared to 3.91% and 5.57% in male and female Yi migrants, respectively. For both genders the standardized prevalence of ISH, IDH, and SDH was higher in Yi migrants than Yi farmers. Overweight and obese Yi men and women had a higher risk for IDH and SDH (P〈O.002) than non-overweight/obese individuals. However, an association of overweight or obesity with ISH was observed only in men. Conclusion Yi migrants have substantially higher proportion of overweight and obese individuals, as well as individuals affected by ISH, IDH, and SDH, than do Yi farmers. Overweight and obesity are significant risk factors for the development of hypertension in Yi people.展开更多

It is important to explore the reasons underlying the livelihood strategy choices of farmers from the perspective of social capital under China’s rural revitalization strategy. In this study, the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, a povertystricken mountainous area in southwestern China, was selected as the case study area, and multivariable linear regression models were constructed to analyze the influence of social capital on livelihood strategies. The results are as follows:(1) Individual social capital had a positive effect on non-agricultural livelihood strategies. On average, with a one-unit increase in individual social capital, the ratio of farmers’ nonagricultural income to total productive income(Income_Rto) increased by 0.002% and 0.062%,respectively. Collective social capital, with the Peasant Economic Cooperation Organization(PECO) as the carrier, had a negative effect on the non-agricultural livelihood strategies of farmers;on average, with a oneunit increase in PECO, Income_Rto decreased by approximately 0.053%. However, this effect was only significant in the river valley area.(2) The income differences among the different livelihood strategy types were explained by the livelihood strategy choices of farmers. As non-agricultural work can bring more benefits, the labor force exhibited one-way migration from villages to cities, resulting in a lack of the subject of rural revitalization. It is necessary to implement effective measures to highlight the role of PECO in increasing agricultural income for farmers. Finally, based on the above conclusions, policy recommendations with respect to livelihood transformation of farmers and rural sustainable development are discussed.展开更多

We inv...Even though the degree of damage inflicted by North Atlantic tropical cyclones (TCs) is highly dependent upon track location and proximity to land, the spatial characteristics of TCs are generally understudied. We investigated the spatial relationships between landfall locations and track patterns of all Cape Verde-type landfalling and coastal TCs that have affected the continental coastline of the western Atlantic Basin by region for the period 1851-2008. The degree of recurvature for these TCs increases progressively from the Central America/Caribbean coast (CA) through the Gulf of Mexico (GOM), Florida peninsula (FLOR), and Atlantic (ATL) coasts. The date (month) of occurrence shows similar increases from the GOM through ATL. These patterns for landfall location, track pattern, and occurrence date generally follow the intra-seasonal movement and intensity variations of the Bermuda High (BH), as represented by increasing North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index values from CA through FLOR. Analysis suggests that the region of landfall is primarily controlled by two factors: the amplitude of track recurvature and the longitude at which recurvature begins to dominate track shape. Both of these important steering controls are predominantly influenced by the strength and position of the BH, with increasing strength and/or more northeasterly position of the BH progressively driving landfall from Central America through the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic seaboard out to the open sea. The paleorecord suggests that the latitudinal position of the BH exerts an important control over the location of hurricane landfall along the western North Atlantic on millennial time scales. This suggests that global warming may result in a northern shift in TC tracks and increased frequency of landfalls in northern locations.展开更多

Conclusion: NYA could promote the recovery of behavioral deficit in collagenase type Ⅶ-induced ICH rats, and increase the number of nestin-immunoreactive NSCs, suggesting that its effect on NSCs may be one of its pharmaceutical mechanisms in treating ICH.

文摘Aiming at the challenges associated with the absence of a labeled dataset for Yi characters and the complexity of Yi character detection and recognition,we present a deep learning-based approach for Yi character detection and recognition. In the detection stage,an improved Differentiable Binarization Network(DBNet)framework is introduced to detect Yi characters,in which the Omni-dimensional Dynamic Convolution(ODConv)is combined with the ResNet-18 feature extraction module to obtain multi-dimensional complementary features, thereby improving the accuracy of Yi character detection. Then, the feature pyramid network fusion module is used to further extract Yi character image features, improving target recognition at different scales.Further, the previously generated feature map is passed through a head network to produce two maps:a probability map and an adaptive threshold map of the same size as the original map. These maps are then subjected to a differentiable binarization process, resulting in an approximate binarization map. This map helps to identify the boundaries of the text boxes. Finally, the text detection box is generated after the post-processing stage. In the recognition stage,an improved lightweight MobileNetV3 framework is used to recognize the detect character regions, where the original Squeeze-and-Excitation(SE)block is replaced by the efficient Shuffle Attention(SA)that integrates spatial and channel attention, improving the accuracy of Yi characters recognition.Meanwhile, the use of depth separable convolution and reversible residual structure can reduce the number of parameters and computation of the model,so that the model can better understand the contextual information and improve the accuracy of text recognition. The experimental results illustrate that the proposed method achieves good results in detecting and recognizing Yi characters, with detection and recognition accuracy rates of 97.5%and 96.8%,respectively.And also,we have compared the detection and recognition algorithms proposed in this paper with other typical algorithms. In these comparisons, the proposed model achieves better detection and recognition results with a certain reliability.
文摘The renowned translator Yang Yi passed away in 2023.Many scholars argue that, influenced by their biological gender, female translators often employ translation methods in adherence to feminist translation or reflect characteristics typical of female translators. This study examines the translation of Wuthering Heights by Yang Yi,focusing on whether there is a definite influence of gender on translator behavior. While existing literature primarily analyzes Yang Yi’s work through a feminist lens, this research takes a broader approach.By considering the translator’s social background and translation practice, this paper challenges the assumption that her work strictly aligns with feminist translation theories.Instead, this study emphasizes the importance of considering diverse factors when interpreting translated works, moving beyond a singular gender-based standpoint.

文摘The authors present evidence to suggest that variations in the snow depth over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) are connected with changes of North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) in winter (JFM). Hence, the decadal increase of winter snow depth over the TP after the late 1970s is proposed to be an indicator of the connection between the enhanced winter NAO and late spring tropospheric cooling over East Asia.
文摘Liangshan Prefecture in Sichuan province, China, has a high prevalence of HIV infection, which is reflective of a change in the mode of transmission from injection drug use (IDU) to heterosexual intercourse. HIV-related interventions for the Yi ethnic minority in Sichuan province must therefore address concurrent sexual partnerships and promote condom use.

文摘This article discusses the interannual variation of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) and North Pacific Oscillation (NPO), its relationship with the interdecadal climate variation in China which is associated with the climate jump in the Northern Hemisphere in the 1960’s, using the data analyses. 文摘Recently, the desiccation effect of the North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO) is found to be positively correlated with violent conflict in pre-industrial Europe, with agricultural shrinkage and its subsequent economic shocks to be their causal link. Our findings may be crucial in examining violent conflict in the northwestern Africa, a highly agricultural region affected by the NAO.

文摘The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is one of the major causes of many recent changes in the Arctic Ocean. The correlation coefficients between NAO and wind speed reached 0.783, 0.813, and 0.818 for the years 2004, 2005, and 2008, respectively, after shifting wind speed one month earlier.

文摘Model of Casson nanofluid flow over a nonlinear shrinking surface is considered.Model of Tiwari and Das is applied to nanofluid comprising of sodium alginate with copper and silver. The governing nonlinear equations incorporating the effects of the viscous dissipation are transformed into boundary value problems (BVPs) of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by using appropriate similarity transformations. The resulting equations are converted into initial value problems (IVPs) using the shooting method which are then solved by Runge-Kutta method of fourth order. In order to determine the stability of the dual solutions obtained, stability analysis is performed and discovered that the first (second) solution is stable (unstable) and physically realizable (unrealizable). Both the thickness of the thermal boundary layer as well as temperature increase when the Casson parameter (β) is increased in the second solution.

文摘Objective To examine the relationship between overweight or obesity and the risk of the various hypertension hemodynamic subtypes in Yi farmers and migrants. Overweight and obesity are significant risk factors for the development of hypertension in Yi people.

文摘Winter North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO)indexes from observations based on various winter durations are compared. Results show that there are significant differences in the interannual and decadal variations of these NAO indexes. For the same data source,a different definition of winter duration can lead to different signs of NAO index in some years, which mainly appear to be in the period of decadal phase transition. The different winter durations induce different cycles of the observation-based NAO.The longer the winter duration, the stronger the decadal variation. The NAO defined by different winter durations also can generate different descriptions of the NAO action centers, including the position and movement. The longer the winter duration, the more southerly action centers appear to be.The movement of the action centers affects not only site-based NAO indexes but also those defined by other methods, such as empirical orthogonal function(EOF)analysis. The length of time used in EOF analysis has a great influence on the spatial pattern of the NAO mode, which results in a considerable difference between the corresponding NAO indexes.Regardless of which NAO index is used, the NAO-related SST anomalies show the same tripole pattern. The longer the winter duration, the more significant the relationship between the NAO and SST affected by the timescale of sea-air interaction.

文摘Social capital in the form of social resources or social networks is one of the most important livelihood capital of farmers, which can increase the labor productivity of poor households and increase income. Finally, based on the above conclusions, policy recommendations with respect to livelihood transformation of farmers and rural sustainable development are discussed.

文摘In the industrial targeted poverty alleviation, land circulation is a key process. Based on the national strategy of targeted poverty alleviation, this paper combined the industrial development of targeted poverty alleviation with land circulation. According to the field survey on the current situation of land circulation and promotion of the industrial poverty alleviation in the typical project area of Zhongping Village in Zhongping Town and Jiaowuying Village in Jiulong Town in Luquan Yi and Miao Autonomous County in Yunnan Province, located in the high mountain canyon area of Jinsha River in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in the west of China. This paper summarized and analyzed the organization and operation mechanism, basic practices and main results of the land circulation and promotion of industrial poverty alleviation model in the typical project area of the county. It also summarized the innovation and successful experience of the model, and then came up with measures to further promote the implementation of the model,so as to provide necessary reference for the implementation of land circulation and industrial targeted poverty alleviation for the poverty-stricken counties in Yunnan Province and similar provinces( cities, regions).
文摘Even though the degree of damage inflicted by North Atlantic tropical cyclones (TCs) is highly dependent upon track location and proximity to land, the spatial characteristics of TCs are generally understudied. This suggests that global warming may result in a northern shift in TC tracks and increased frequency of landfalls in northern locations.
