Examination of Screening of the Pachinko/Pachislot Playing Disorder Based on Gambling Disorder Scales

Pachinko and pachislot are unique forms of entertainment that dominate gambling activities in Japan. In this study, a web survey and interview were conducted in order to adjust three scales (DSM-5, SOGS, and PGSI) to pachinko/pachislot and explore an appropriate cutoff point for each of them. Using the assessment result in the interview as the outcome, the ROC curve of each scale was examined. The cutoff points were 4, 7, and 8 and the area under the curves (AUC) were 0.730, 0.783, and 0.724 for the DSM-5, SOGS, and PGSI, respectively. The study found that the type and situation of gambling influenced cutoff points in different ways depending on the questions asked in the scale.

Prevalence of Pachinko-Pachislot Playing Disorder and the Characteristics of Individuals with the Disorder: Analysis of National Pachinko/Pachislot Survey Results

To understand the reality of gambling disorder caused by playing pachinko/pachislot, a national pachinko/pachislot survey was conducted. Based on the survey result, we examined the appearance ratio and the characteristics of individuals with a suspected pachinko-pachislot playing disorder. The analysis result indicated that approximately 0.4% of survey respondents were suspected to have the disorder. This appearance ratio was comparable to the prevalence of gambling disorder in the general population. Those who had a suspected disorder were likely to be divorced, and have no savings. Meanwhile, no distinctive characteristics were found in their gender, annual household income, or the highest educational attainment.

As known to all,China has witnessed remarkable development in addition to its effective implementation of the“double reduction”policy.Under such circumstance,the piano has drawn more interest and parental affection as a vital course that may improve students’all-round qualities.While piano education is gaining momentum,the country has raised the requirements for the piano teacher workforce in terms of their professional qualities.Under the background of promoting quality-oriented education nationwide,piano education in Chinese vocational colleges of art has garnered more attention.In contrast to applied piano instruction,which has received wide recognition and promotion,the traditional elite private teaching model targeted at nurturing pianists has more than ever failed to meet societal demands.The majority of graduates from vocational colleges of art seem to be unable to apply what they have learned.They are unable to compose accompaniment for simple songs,write piano music,provide piano accompaniment for singers,or sing while playing the piano.As a result,they fall short of living up to the expectations of piano teaching and meeting the needs of music teacher employment in primary and secondary schools.The development of“Xindi Applied Piano Pedagogy”can effectively address the aforementioned problems.As piano teachers,the authors experimented with Xindi Applied Piano Pedagogy to teach singing while playing the piano to first-year students at Fujian Vocational College of Art.A measurement table was used to measure the differences in various musical abilities of those students after the experiment,statistical analysis of the data was performed,and the preliminary results were obtained.The results showed that training in Applied Piano Singing while Playing led to a noticeable improvement in students’musical literacy,harmonic hearing,singing while playing beloved songs,and other abilities.Xindi Applied Piano Pedagogy is guided by the philosophy of talent cultivation,featuring“application,theories,and practice.”It can be tailored to different students,so that they can indeed apply what they have learned and enhance their practical and innovative capabilities.

Playing it cool Characterizing social play, bout termination, and candidate play signals of juvenile and infant Tibetan macaques (Macaca thibetana)

Play behaviors and signals during playful interactions with juvenile conspecifics are important for both the social and cognitive development of young animals. The social organization of a species can also influence juvenile social play. We examined the relationships among play behaviors, candidate play signals, and play bout termination in Tibetan macaques （Macaca thibetana） during juvenile and infant social play to characterize the species play style. As Tibetan macaques are despotic and live in groups with strict linear dominance hierarchies and infrequent reconciliation, we predicted that play would be at risk of misinterpretation by both the individuals engaged in the play bout and by those watching, possibly leading to injury of the players. Animals living in such societies might need to frequently and clearly signal playful intent to play partners and other group members to avoid aggressive outcomes. We gathered video data on 21 individually-identified juvenile and infant macaques （one month to five years of age） from the Valley of the Wild Monkeys, Mt. Huangshan, China. We used all-occurrence sampling to record play behaviors and candidate play signals based on an ethogram. We predicted that play groups would use multiple candidate play signals in a variety of contexts and in association with the number of audience members in proximity to the players and play bout length. In the 283 playful interactions we scored,juvenile and infant macaques used multiple body and facial candidate play signals. Distributed Nash Equilibrium Seeking Strategies Under Quantized Communication

This paper is concerned with distributed Nash equi librium seeking strategies under quantized communication. In the proposed seeking strategy, a projection operator is synthesized with a gradient search method to achieve the optimization o players' objective functions while restricting their actions within required non-empty, convex and compact domains. In addition, a leader-following consensus protocol, in which quantized informa tion flows are utilized, is employed for information sharing among players. More specifically, logarithmic quantizers and uniform quantizers are investigated under both undirected and connected communication graphs and strongly connected digraphs, respec tively. Through Lyapunov stability analysis, it is shown that play ers' actions can be steered to a neighborhood of the Nash equilib rium with logarithmic and uniform quantizers, and the quanti fied convergence error depends on the parameter of the quan tizer for both undirected and directed cases. A numerical exam ple is given to verify the theoretical results.
