Previous studies revealed a correlation between beta 2-adrenergic receptor dysfunction and Alzheimer's disease (AD), although the mechanism involved is still poorly understood. The current study investigated the potential effect of the selective β2-adrenergic receptor antagonist, ICI 118551 (ICI), on Aβ deposits and AD-related cognitive impairment. Morris water maze test results demonstrated that the performance of AD-transgenic (TG) mice treated with ICI (AD-TG/ICI) was significantly poorer compared with NaCl-treated AD-TG mice (AD-TG/NaCl), suggesting that β2-adrenergic receptor blockage by ICI might reduce the learning and memory abilities of mice. Golgi staining and immunohistochemical staining revealed that blockage of the β2-adrenergic receptor by ICI treatment decreased the number of dendritic branches, and ICI treatment in AD-TG mice decreased the expression of hippocampal synaptophysin and synapsin 1. Western blot assay results showed that the blockage of β2-adrener- gic receptor increased amyloid-β accumulation by downregulating hippocampal a-secretase activity and increasing the phosphorylation of amyloid precursor protein. These findings suggest that blocking the β2-adrenergic receptor inhibits dendrite ramification of hippocampal neurons in a mouse model of AD.展开更多
The enantiomers separation of thirteen drugs collected in Ch.P2010 was performed on chiral stationary phase of cellulose ramification (chiralpak OD and chiralpak OJ) by high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) m...The enantiomers separation of thirteen drugs collected in Ch.P2010 was performed on chiral stationary phase of cellulose ramification (chiralpak OD and chiralpak OJ) by high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) methods, which included ibuprofen (C1), ketoprofen (C2), nitrendipine (C3), nimodipine (C4), felodipine (C5), omeprazole (C6), praziquantel (C7), propranolol hydrochloride (C8), atenolol (C9), sulpiride (C10), clenbuterol hydrochloride (C11), verapamil hydrochloride (C12), and chlorphenamine maleate (C13). The mobile phase consisted of isopropanol and n-hexane. The detection wavelength was set at 254 nm and the fiow rate was 0.7 mL/min. The enantiomers separation of these thirteen racemates on chiralpak OD column and chiralpak OJ column was studied, while the effects of proportion of organic additives, alcohol displacer and temperature on the separation were studied. And the mechanism of some of racemates was discussed. The results indicated that thirteen chiral drugs could be separated onchiral stationary phase of cellulose ramification in normal phase chromatographic system. The chromatographic retention and resolution of enantiomers could be adjusted by factors including column temperature and the concentration of alcohol displacer and organic alkaline modifier in mobile phase. It was shown that the resolution was improved with reducing concentration of alcohol displacer. When concentration of organic alkaline modifier was 0.2% (v/v), the resolution and the peak shape were fairly good. Most racemates mentioned above had better resolution at column temperature of 25 1C. When racemates were separated, the temperature should be kept so as to obtain stable separation results.展开更多
Just like there are fanatics in sports,music and in all spheres of life,there are individuals obsessed with animation,Japanese comics,video games and the fantasy world.These people,known as the“otaku”or literally tr...Just like there are fanatics in sports,music and in all spheres of life,there are individuals obsessed with animation,Japanese comics,video games and the fantasy world.These people,known as the“otaku”or literally translated as“nerds”in English,are the subject of this paper.The article describes the characteristics unique to the“otaku”individuals as well as how they interact inside and outside of their“otaku”world.In the beginning,there seemed nothing wrong with the“otaku”world;it was just a social trend.But during the early 1990’s,when Japan faced its first otaku serial killer,“Otaku”has become a subject of social concern in Japan.College students and young adults are strongly hit by this socio-psychological obsession with the imaginary world,causing real,not imaginary,social problems(Pustz,1999).This paper hopes to find answers to the following questions.What is“otaku”in relation to manga and animation?What are the characteristics of the“otaku”sub-culture?What is the psychological behavior of“otaku”individuals?By tracing the spread of internet cafes,manga and anime,and otaku conventions in Asia and Europe this paper aims to trace the cultural ramifications of Japanese animation overseas.展开更多

Finite fields form an important chapter in abstract algebra, and mathematics in general, yet the traditional expositions, part of Abstract Algebra courses, focus on the axiomatic presentation, while Ramification Theor...Finite fields form an important chapter in abstract algebra, and mathematics in general, yet the traditional expositions, part of Abstract Algebra courses, focus on the axiomatic presentation, while Ramification Theory in Algebraic Number Theory, making a suited topic for their applications, is usually a separated course. We aim to provide a geometric and intuitive model for finite fields, involving algebraic numbers, in order to make them accessible and interesting to a much larger audience, and bridging the above mentioned gap. Such lattice models of finite fields provide a good basis for later developing their study in a more concrete way, including decomposition of primes in number fields, Frobenius elements, and Frobenius lifts, allowing to approach more advanced topics, such as Artin reciprocity law and Weil Conjectures, while keeping the exposition to the concrete level of familiar number systems. Examples are provided, intended for an undergraduate audience in the first place.展开更多

To prove such a result, consider for any prime p, the decomposition into a product of prime ideals of Zk</sub>, of the ideal . From this point, we use on the one hand: 1) The well- known property that says: If , then the ideal pZ<sub>k</sub> decomposes into a product of prime ideals of Zk</sub> as following: . (where:;is the irreducible polynomial of θ, and, is its reduction modulo p, which leads to a product of irreducible polynomials in Fp[X]). It is clear that because if is reducible in Fp[X], then consequently p is not inert. Now, we prove the existence of such p, by proving explicit such p as follows. We prove that for p_g 7 all these surfaces are birational to a double cover of some rational surfaces, and all but a finite classes of them have a unique fibration of genus 2; then we study their structures by determining their branch loci and singular fibres. We study similarly for surfaces with p_g=5, 6. Lastly we show that when p_g 13 all these surfaces are simply-connected.展开更多
