A Markov chain inversion approach is developed to perform a difficult inversion to identify the transition rates from the parameters characterizing the lifetime distributions at a small number of states, although it is straightforward to derive the lifetime distribution. The general explicit equations relating the parameters of the lifetime distribution to the tran- sition rates are derived and transition rates are then obtained as roots to this system of equations. The concrete solutions are proposed to the basic and regular schemes such as linear, star-graph branch and loop. Useful conclusions and solutions to realistic schemes are also included to show its efficiency.展开更多

In the calculations, the contributions from Breit interaction and quantum electrodynamics (QED) effects (vacuum polarization and self-energy), as well as nu- clear finite mass and volume effects, are taken into account. The calculated transition energies and rates are found to be in good agreement with other experimental and theoretical results. The accuracy of the results is estimated and discussed. Furthermore, we calculated the transition energies of the same lines radiating from the decaying transitions of the K-, L-, and M-shell hole states of Np ions with the charge states Np1+ to Np6+ for the first time. We found that for a specific line, the corresponding transition energies relating to all the Np ions are almost the same; it means the outermost electrons have a very small influence on the inner-shell transition processes.展开更多

In particular, the movements detected by space geodesy record the steady state deformation in the ductile lower crust, whereas the stick-slip behavior of the brittle upper crust is constrained by its larger friction. GPS data allow analyzing the strain rate along active plate boundaries. In all tectonic settings, we propose that earthquakes primarily occur along active fault segments characterized by relative minima of strain rate, segments which are locked or slowly creeping. We discuss regional examples where large earthquakes happened in areas of relative low strain rate. Regardless the tectonic style, the interseismic stress and strain pattern inverts during the coseismic stage. Where a dilated band formed during the interseismic stage, this will be shortened at the coseismic stage, and vice-versa what was previously shortened, it will be dilated. The interseismic energy accumulation and the coseismic expenditure rather depend on the tectonic setting (extensional, contractional, or strike-slip). The gravitational potential energy dominates along normal faults, whereas the elastic energy prevails for thrust earthquakes and performs work against the gravity force. The energy budget in strike-slip tectonic setting is also primarily due elastic energy. Therefore, precursors may be different as a function of the tectonic setting. In this model, with a given displacement, the magnitude of an earthquake results from the coseismic slip of the deformed volume above the BDT rather than only on the fault length, and it also depends on the fault kinematics.展开更多

In addition, the effects of the four components of HHT, that is, Gardeniae Fructus(GF), Scutellariae Radix(SR), Coptidis Rhizoma(CR), and Phellodendri Cortex(PC), on GI motility were also investigated.RESULTS In normal ICR mice, ITR% and GE values were significantly and dose-dependently increased by the intragastric administration of HHTE(0.1-1 g/kg). The ITR% values of GMD mice were significantly lower than those of normal mice, and these reductions were significantly and dose-dependently inhibited by HHTE(0.1-1 g/kg). Additionally, GF, CR, and PC dosedependently increased ITR% and GE values in normal and GMD mice.CONCLUSION These results suggest that HHT is a novel candidate for the development of a gastroprokinetic agent for the GI tract.展开更多

The guiding principle in this regard is to ensure service reliability and quality by balancing load variations with the variable renewable energy (VRE) sources. If the power generated by these VRE sources is not properly managed in conjunction with the varying load, the power grid may fail to achieve the required balance. To ensure its reliable operation, reliability analysis is vital for wind energy generation system (WEGS). This paper evaluated and assessed the reliability of WEGS and a proposed varying load by first using a stochastic approach to model the WEGS and the proposed varying load after which power generation indices were used to evaluate and assess the performance of the model. The WEGS and the varying load were modelled separately after which the two were combined into one model. Full availability, partial availability, the expected energy not supplied (EENS) or loss of energy expectation (LOEE), the mean or average instantaneous electric power generation and mean instantaneous generation deficiency were the indices used for the evaluation of the WEGS. The results indicated that the electric power generation will meet the power demand during most of the transition states of the WEGS with the expectation that the variation in the load will not be at fast pace and in large quantum.展开更多

Chem. Phy3. 25, 439 (1956)] is applied to calculate the energy transition rates of Vibrational- Vibrational (V-V) and Vibrational-Translational (V-T) energy transfer in gas mixtures. The results of calculation for the multi-relaxation processes in various gas mixtures, consisting of carbon dioxide, methane, chlorine, nitrogen, and oxygen at room temperature, demonstrate that the acoustic energy stagnated in every vibrational mode is coupled with each other through V-V energy exchanges. The vibrational excitation energy will relax through the V-T de-excitation path of the lowest mode because of its fastest V-T transition rate, resulting in that only one absorption peak can be measured for most of excitable gas mixtures. Thus, an effective model is provided to analyze how the vibrational energy transition rates affect the characteristics of acoustic relaxation processes and acoustic propagation in excitable gas mixtures.展开更多

Motivating from a lot of restriction in applications of a transition function with continuous (in t ≥0) and consewative transition rates q(t, x, A), we consider the case that q(t, x, A) axe only required to satisfy a mild measurability (in t ≥ O) condition, which is a generalization of the continuity condition. Under the measurability condition we construct a transition function with the given transition rates, provide a necessary and sufficient condition for it to be regular, and further obtain some interesting additional results.展开更多

In this model, with a given displacement, the magnitude of an earthquake results from the coseismic slip of the deformed volume above the BDT rather than only on the fault length, and it also depends on the fault kinematics.

文摘Electron-positron pair production rate created from vacuum in the presence of an elliptically polarized laser field is investigated.By applying the technique of two level transition amplitude,a routine for obtaining pair production rate is presented, and approximate analytical expressions are given both for the low frequency strong field regime and the high frequency weak field regime. We found that for an elliptically polarized field, the electron-positron pair production rate decrease when the elliptic eccentricity increase in the high frequency weak field regime, however,in the low frequency strong field regime, there is almost the same electron-positron pair production rate as in the constant electric field case.

文摘Using the multi-configuration Dirac-Fock self-consistent field method and the relativistic configuration interaction method with quantum-electrodynamics corrections performed by the GRASP code, we calculate the fine-structure energy levels of the ground-state configuration (1s^22s^22p^3) of the nitrogen isoelectronic sequence, according to the L-S coupling scheme with atomic number Z up to 22. Based on the calculated results, we elucidate the mechanism of the orderings of fine-structure energy levels of 2^ D3/2,5/2 and 2^P1/2,3/2 respectively, i.e. for 2^D3/2,5/2 orderings, the competition between the spin-orbit interactions and the Breit interactions; for 2^P1/2,3/2 orderings, the electron correlations, especially the electron correlations owing to the 2p^5 configuration interactions.

文摘Species in Galliformes have elaborate ritual courtship displays, often including strutting, fluffing of tail or head feathers, and vocal sounds that serve as excellent examples of sexual selection.According to the male orientation to the female while either posturing or moving, these courtship displays of gallinaceous species can be classified into three categories:1)‘frontal displays’,2)‘lateral displays’,and 3)‘both frontal and lateral displays’.Questions regarding which category of displays is the ancestral state and the evolutionary history of courtship displays in Galliformes remain unanswered. We collected and classified 131 species in terms of their courtship displays into the three categories listed above and carried out a large-scale comparative analysis to reveal the evolutionary trajectory of this trait. We found that the ancestral state of courtship displays of Galliformes involves both relatively short and straightforward frontal and lateral elements(i.e.,the category of‘both frontal and lateral displays’).Furthermore, ancestral trait reconstructions suggest that transitions from‘lateral displays’to‘frontal displays’occurred more frequently than the other way around(i.e.,from‘frontal displays’to‘lateral displays’).In addition, some transitions occurred from‘both frontal and lateral displays’to‘lateral displays’but not from‘both frontal and lateral displays’to‘frontal displays’.Ancestral state reconstruction of courtship displays at the root of the Galliformes phylogeny supports the‘both frontal and lateral displays’first scenario. This original state then evolved towards two extremes, either‘frontal displays’or‘lateral displays’,with more complicated and elaborate display components. Moreover, subsequent transitions occurred from‘lateral displays’to‘frontal displays’much more frequently than the other way around during the evolutionary history, indicating positive selection of‘frontal displays’.

文摘The paper is concerned with positive observer design for positive Markovian jump systems with partly known transition rates. By applying a linear co-positive type Lyapunov-Krasovskii function,a sufficient condition is proposed to ensure the stochastic stability of the error positive system and the existence of the positive observer, which is computed in linear programming. Finally, an example is given to demonstrate the validity of the main results.
文摘Operators of renewable energy systems (RESs) must always manage uncertainty to some extent to ensure the reliability and the security of the electric power supply source. The results indicated that the electric power generation will meet the power demand during most of the transition states of the WEGS with the expectation that the variation in the load will not be at fast pace and in large quantum.

文摘To research the correlation between vibrational energy transition rates and acoustic relaxation processes in excitable gases, the vibrational relaxation theory provided by Tanczos [J. Chem. Phy3. 25, 439 (1956)] is applied to calculate the energy transition rates of Vibrational- Vibrational (V-V) and Vibrational-Translational (V-T) energy transfer in gas mixtures. Thus, an effective model is provided to analyze how the vibrational energy transition rates affect the characteristics of acoustic relaxation processes and acoustic propagation in excitable gas mixtures.

文摘The influence of heat treatment with different cooling rates on phase transition behaviors and magnetocaloric effect is systematically studied.Difference in atomic order is induced by changing cooling rates, where ordered phase is obtained in the furnace cooled(FC)sample while disordered phase is reserved in the water quenched(WQ)sample. The coupled magneto-structural transition is detected in both samples but the characteristic temperature significantly shifts to lower temperatures with increasing atomic order.Giant magnetic entropy change(ΔS_(mag))derived from magnetic field induced martensitic transformation is confirmed for both samples, and can be remarkably enhanced by the atomic ordering. The largestΔS_(mag) of 20.9J/(kg·K)is obtained at 307.5Kunder 5Tin the FC sample.

文摘This paper concerns the construction and regularity of a transition (probability) function of a nonhomogeneous continuous-time Maxkov process with given transition rates and a general state space. Under the measurability condition we construct a transition function with the given transition rates, provide a necessary and sufficient condition for it to be regular, and further obtain some interesting additional results.
