By use of the filter analysis technique, the Complex Empirical Othogonal Function (CEOF) method and the ECMWF/WMO 2.5°×2.5°grid data of the geopotential heights during the summer months in 1988, an interseasonal process that the western Pacific subtropical high (WPSH) was anomalously far to the north in the first and second ten days of July is studied. It has been found that in the western Pacific subtropical region in the first and second ten days of July,it is the continuous assembly of low frequency geopotential waves (LFGWs) that leads to the abnormality of WPSH. This abnormality emerges with the enhancement of wave assembling and ceases while the wave assembling situation disappears. The structure of the low frequency assembling waves corresponds to the structure of subtropical high in its abnormal period. The effect of the assembling waves on the abnormality of subtropical high can be considered as the accumulation of disturbance energy carried by the low frequency waves from different directions in the western Pacific region. 展开更多

Developing Spline Based Overset Grid Assembling Approach and Application to Unsteady Flow Around a Moving Body

A spline based overset grid assembling system has been developed. The system is based on structured grid approach and covers comprehensive features for overset assembling, i.e., grid generation, grid modification, and computing Domain Connectivity Information (DCI) for overset interpolation. Ferguson spline curve is used to compute curves through grid points and cell centers for trimming grids and computing DCI robustly and accurately. Flow simulation around Kriso Container Ship (KCS) with jointed grids shows good continuity of flow field between the grids. The overset grid assembling is enhanced to unsteady problem as dynamic overset approach coupled with a solver which also has been developed in National Maritime Research Institute, Japan. Computed results for pitchup spheroid are compared with measured data and show good agreement in unsteady force acting on the spheroid. It is confirmed that the system has capability to simulate flow field around jointed grids and unsteady flow with dynamic overset assembling approach practically. 展开更多

Background:Understanding the mechanisms underlying community assembly is helpful for conservation and restoration of communities, particularly those that contain rare and endangered species like Taxus fuana, which are endemic to the Western Himalayas. The niche (limiting similarity) vs. neutral (randomness) assembly of the T.fuana forest community in Gyirong County, Tibet, China, was investigated. The net relatedness index (NRI) was calculated using a phylogenetic tree. The phylogenetic characteristics of the community and its relationships with environment were analyzed.Results:The value of the mean NRI at the community level was less than-1.96, indicating that the phylogenetic structure was overdispersed;whereas majority of the NRIs at the tree, shrub, and herb layers were within-1.96 to1.96, indicating random dispersion. Environmental factors accounted for 44.38%, 46.52%, 24.04%, and 14.07%of the variation at the community level, tree, shrub, and herb layer, respectively. The phylogenetic structure at the community level and tree layer were significantly influenced by both topographic and soil factors, while shrub and herb layers tended to be affected by a single environmental factor.Conclusions:Community assembly of the T. fuana forest was simultaneously affected by niche and neutral processes, and their variations were closely related to the environment. Neutral process dominated community assembly in the shrub and herb layers. However, the interaction of limiting similarity and randomness played a dominant role at the community level and tree layer;and contributed to maintenance of biodiversity stability. The synergy of multiple environmental factors had a more obvious influence on community assembly than individual environmental factors, especially at the community level. These findings would help to understand the conservation of rare and endangered tree species, such as T. fuana, in the native community;and highlight the importance of random and non-random processes in assembly and biodiversity maintenance of alpine plant communities. 展开更多

A facile solution processed strategy of synthesizing nano silver assembled on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) at room temperature was put forward. Activated carbon nanotubes were used as precursors for preparing silver-decorated nanotubes. The nature of the decorated nanotubes was studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The inert surfaces of carbon nanotubes were activated by introducing catalytic nuclei via an oxidation-sensitization-activation approach. Activated carbon nanotubes catalyzed the metal deposition specifically onto their surfaces upon immersion in electroless plating baths. The method produced nanotubes decorated with silver. The extent of silver decoration was found to be dependent on fabrication conditions. Dense nano silver assembled on nanotube surfaces could be obtained by keeping a low reaction rate in the solution phase. The results here show that this method is an efficient and simple means of achieving carbon nanotubes being assembled by nano metal. 展开更多

The big size and mass of the EAST machine's components and complicated configuration with tight installation tolerances call for a highly careful assembling procedure. The assembling procedure consists of three main sub-procedures for the assembling of the base, of the tori of the VV, the vacuum vessel TS and the TF, and of the peripheral parts respectively. Before the assembly, a reference framework has been set up by means of an industrial measurement system with reference fiducial targets fixed on the wall of the test hall. The assembling of a coating of time-resolved fluorescent chelator BSPDA ( abbreviated for 4, 7-bis ( sulfhydrylphenyl)-1, 10-phenanthroline-2, 9-dicarboxylic acid) onto a nano-gold layer was demonstrated. First, BSPDA was synthesized by simple procedures, and then an approach was developed to immobilize BSPDA onto the nano-gold layer deposited on a silane modified glass substrate, whereby europium ion (Ⅲ, Eu^3+ ) was captured and released owing to the interactive process of complexation and dissociation between BSPDA functionalized coating and Eu^3+ solution. The fluorescence spectra and related lifetimes were determined. Also, the BSPDA functionalized coating's specific complexation with Eu^3+ on the BSPDA assembly layer and the nonspecific adsorption of Eu^3+ on the nano-gold layer were compared. These results allowed a selective complexation of Eu^3+ by assembling a BSPDA chelating layer on the nano-gold layer; thus, a tunable time-resolved fluorescent layer was covalently attached, The results of the nanoparticle assembling and probing (or labeling) processes to specific bio-systems were very interesting and had significant implications to time-resolved-fluorescence-based detection on biosensor surfaces such as DNA chip and to arrayed light display devices. 展开更多

Modular continuum robots possess significant versatility across various scenarios;however,conventional assembling methods typically rely on linear connection between modules.This limitation can impede the robotic interaction capabilities,especially in specific engineering applications.Herein,inspired by the assembling pattern between the femur and tibia in a human knee,we proposed a multidirectional assembling strategy.This strategy encompasses linear,oblique,and orthogonal connections,allowing a two-module continuum robot to undergo in-situ reconfiguration into three distinct initial configurations.To anticipate the final configuration resulting from diverse assembling patterns,we employed the positional formulation finite element framework to establish a mechanical model,and the theoretical results reveal that our customizable strategy can offer an effective route for robotic interactions.We showcased diverse assembling patterns for coping with interaction requirements.The experimental results indicate that our modular continuum robot not only reconfigures its initial profile in situ but also enables on-demand regulation of the final configuration.These capabilities provide a foundation for the future development of modular continuum robots,enabling them to be adaptable to diverse environments,particularly in unstructured surroundings. 展开更多

Both morphology and composition have a great influence on the properties and functions of materials,however,how to rational modulate both of them to achieve their synergistic effects has been a longstanding expectation.Herein,we demonstrate a competitive assembling strategy for the construction of metal-free graphite carbon nitride(CN)homojunctions in which morphology and composition can be easily controlled simultaneously by only changing the ratio of assembly raw materials.These homojunctions are comprised of porous nanotubular S-doped CN(SCN)grafted with CN nanovesicles,which are derived from thermal polycondensation of melamine-thiocyanuric acid(M-T)/melamine-cyanuric acid(M-C)supramolecular hybrid blocks.This unique architecture and component engineering endows the novel SCN-CN homojunction with abundant active sites,enhanced visible trapping ability,and intimate interface contact.As a result,the synthesized SCN-CN homojunctions demonstrate high photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution and pollutant degradation.This developed strategy opens up intriguing opportu-nities for the rational construction of intricate metal-free heterostructures with controllable architecture and interfacial contact for applications in energy-related fields. 展开更多

The potential energy in materials is well approximated by pair functional which is composed of pair potentials and embedding energy. During calculating material potential energy, the orientational component and the volumetric component are derived respectively from pair potentials and embedding energy. The sum of energy of all these two kinds of components is the material potential. No matter how microstructures change, damage or fracture, at the most level, they are all the changing and breaking atomic bonds. As an abstract of atomic bonds, these components change their stiffness during damaging. Material constitutive equations have been formulated by means of assembling all components' response functions. This material model is called the component assembling model. Theoretical analysis and numerical computing indicate that the proposed model has the capacity of reproducing some results satisfactorily, with the advantages of great conceptual simplicity, physical explicitness, and intrinsic induced anisotropy, etc. 展开更多

Linking pieces of design information for inspiration are an important part of the early phase of the design process. One key tinking operation is assembling, wherein designers create new ideas by assembting partiat or whore pieces of ideas together. How designers assemble the ideas reflect their design process. Hence, by developing a computational toot for assembling ideas, the underlying rutes of design decision-making might be reveated. In this research, we employed a computational design method consisting of methodotogical mapping (jigsaw) and consequential analysis (Design Jigsaw system prototype) to create associations between varied types of information at different levers in the design information hierarchy. We then propose a system prototype called Design Jigsaw, based on the analysis of five representation schemes with network-tike structures and sound detegation mechanisms. We atso developed and explored the representation, components, and the control mechanisms involved in these components. The algorithm of the two main control strategies, grouping and matching/combining, is described in detail atong with the procedurat description of a jigsaw solving session. Metal halide perovskites possess appealing optoelectronic properties and have been widely applied for solar energy harvesting and light emitting.Although perovskite solar cells(PeSCs)and perovskite light-emitting diodes(PeLEDs)have been developed rapidly in recent years,there are still no universal rules for the selection of perovskites to achieve high-performance optoelectronic devices.In this review,the working mechanisms of PeSCs and PeLEDs are first demonstrated with the discussion on the factors which determine the device performance.We then examine the optoelectronic properties of perovskites with structures modulated from 3D,2D,1D to 0D,and analyze the corresponding structure-property relationships in terms of photo-electric and electric-photo conversion processes.Based on the unique optoelectronic properties of structurally modulated perovskites,we put forward the concept of structural assembling engineering that integrate the merits of different types of perovskites within one matrix and elaborate their excellent properties for applications of both PeSCs and PeLEDs.Finally,we discuss the potential challenges and provide our perspectives on the structural assembling engineering of perovskites for future optoelectronic applications. 展开更多

A valid strategy to tailor the properties of polylactic acid for more extensive applications was introducing filler.In this work,basalt fiber assembled with in-situ SiO_(2) nanoparticles on the surface was successfully prepared via hydrothermal method and it was further treated with coupling agent KH-550 to improve interfacial interaction between polylactic acid(PLA)and basalt fibers(BF).It was demonstrated that the introduction of BFS could increase the crystallization of PLA and resulted in forming trans-crystallization based on TG and DSC results.The tensile strength of PLA/BF composites raised from 39 MPa to 62.5 MPa with increasing the fiber loading from 1 wt%to 10 wt%.Furthermore,the interfacial interaction could be effectively improved by assembling SiO_(2)(especially with 250 nm in diameter)on BF surface to build mechanical locking,which could keep the PLA matrix in place during the mechanical deformation with the tensile strength value raised from 62.5 MPa to 74.0 MPa.It is noticeable that the impact and flexural properties were effectively increased with the incorporation of in-situ SiO_(2) nanoparticles.The further KH-550 treatment made a positive impact as well.For instance,the impact strength and flexural strength of the sample with SiO_(2) and KH-550 modification were improved to 22.49 k J/m^(2) and 146.83 MPa and it enhanced about 42.16%and 41.04%than those of neat PLA,respectively.Therefore,an efficient enhancement of mechanical performance was achieved and this concept of assembling in-situ SiO_(2) on silica-based fiber as a modifier was a novel and simple path to design the interfacial construction and properties of the polymer composites. 展开更多

It is critical for fabricating flexible biosensors with both high sensitivity and good selectivity to realize real-time monitoring superoxide anion(O_(2)^(·−)),a specific reactive oxygen species that plays critical roles in various biological processes.This work delicately designs a Mn_(3)(PO_(4))_(2)/MXene heterostructured biomimetic enzyme by assembling two-dimensional(2-D)Mn_(3)(PO_(4))_(2) nanosheets with biomimetic activity and 2-D MXene nanosheets with high conductivity and abundant functional groups.The 2-D nature of the two components with strong interfacial interaction synergistically enables the heterostructure an excellent flexibility with retained 100%of the response when to reach a bending angle up to 180°,and 96%of the response after 100 bending/relaxing cycles.It is found that the surface charge state of the heterostructure promotes the adsorption of O_(2)^(·−),while the high-energy active site improves electrochemical oxidation of O_(2)^(·−).The Mn_(3)(PO_(4))_(2)/MXene as a sensing platform towards O2•−achieves a high sensitivity of 64.93µA·µM^(−1)·cm^(−2),a wide detection range of 5.75 nM to 25.93µM,and a low detection limit of 1.63 nM.Finally,the flexible heterostructured sensing platform realizes real-time monitoring of O_(2)^(·−)in live cell assays,offering a promising flexible biosensor towards exploring various biological processes. 展开更多

Arranging dense donors around a single acceptor for the assembly of effi-cient light-harvesting antennas is a long-standing challenge due to the intractable aggregation-caused quenching of dense donors.Herein,we designed a cationic aggregation-induced emission(AIE)amphiphile to self-assemble with natural DNA duplexes.As an efficient donor,the as-prepared cationic AIE amphiphile could be densely attached to the phosphate groups of natural DNA duplexes by using the smaller cationic trimethylammonium.The long alkyl chain between the cationic trimethylammonium and the AIEfluorophore allowed for avoiding the insuffi-cient binding caused by the steric hindrance of the AIEfluorophore,resulting in a remarkably high donor/acceptor ratio comparable to that of the widely developed custom DNA assemblies.The proposed self-assembly strategy provided novelflex-ible avenues for the assembling offinely controlled and efficient light-harvesting systems into natural DNA with little synthetic modifications and low cost. 展开更多
