Virginia Woolf's conception of "moments of being", later develop into the stream of consciousness, is considered as the major techniques in her short stories. In this paper, the major features of the two techniques are compared and contrasted with reference to Joyce's early fictions and Woolf's The Mark on the Wall.

Similarities and Differences of Chinese Translation Theories And Western Translation Theories

Translation theories are based on the different languages and cultures.The difference is not clearly defined,so there is a place of mutual integration that can be used interchangeably.Theyall regard author’s meaning and style as a core to translate a good product.Comparatively,Chinese theories focus on expressing the general meaning of the author,but Western theory emphasizes equivalence of details on translation and response of reader.In the translation practice,according to different theoretical texts and different stages of the translation process,the Chinese and Western translation theories are combined to apply them for making up for each other's deficiencies,which can help our translators to solve the problems in the process of translation improve the construction of Chinese theories.

Since the end of the war in Afghanistan, the United States has been intensely making preparations for military actions to overthrow the "Saddam regime. " Though there existed big differences between the pro-war factions and pro-peace factions in the United Nations, U. S. President George W. Bush vowed that his country "would take military actions against lraq as planned even if the UN Security Council fails to pass U. S. motion to topple the Saddam regime by force." This tells us that the second Persian Gulf War was inevitable. And people would naturally connect in mind this war with the first Persian Gulf War in 1991. What is the difference between the two Gulf wars? What follow-up move would Washington take after the second Gulf war? What impact would the war exert on the political structure of the Middle East? And what’s the prospect of relations among the big powers, especially among the United States, the European nations, Russia and China? To find answers to these questions, we invited Professor Wang Zaibang and six of his colleagues to have a panel discussion in early March. It should be mentioned that Contemporary International Relations held a discussion of similar kind in the No. 10 issue, 2002. This discussion can be seen as a follow-up to the last one. We hope it would better our readers’ understanding of how the Chinese view this issue of public attention.

Morphological Difference and DNA Diversity Between Flower-colour Sport and Original Cultivar of Chrysanthemum with Small Flowers

A total of 58 morphological characteristics were measured on flower-colour sport and original cultivar according to Disticness, Uniformity, Stability＇ （DUS） Test for New Plant Cultivar of Chrysanthemum published by Ministry of Agriculture of China The results showed that five characteristics such as the surface colour, the back color of ray floret among them were siginificantly different, their MS （mo by AFLP showed that rphological s GS （genetic imilarity） was 91.4%, and MD （morphological difference） was 8.62%. DNA polymorphic analysis similarity） was 98.6%, and GD （genetic polymorphic diversity） was 2.81%. Five distinct bands which may include the flower-colour sport genes or be the molecular marker linkaged flower-color characteristics were amplified.

Numerical Simulation of the Settling Flux of Biodeposition in a Bay with Cage Culture Through Similarity Theory and a Simplified Pollution Source

The settling flux of biodeposition affects the environmental quality of cage culture areas and determines their environmental carrying capacity.Simple and effective simulation of the settling flux of biodeposition is extremely important for determining the spatial distribution of biodeposition.Theoretically,biodeposition in cage culture areas without specific emission rules can be simplified as point source pollution.Fluent is a fluid simulation software that can simulate the dispersion of particulate matter simply and efficiently.Based on the simplification of pollution sources and bays,the settling flux of biodeposition can be easily and effectively simulated by Fluent fluid software.In the present work,the feasibility of this method was evaluated by simulation of the settling flux of biodeposition in Maniao Bay,Hainan Province,China,and 20 sampling sites were selected for determining the settling fluxes.At sampling sites P1,P2,P3,P4,P5,Z1,Z2,Z3,Z4,A1,A2,A3,A4,B1,B2,C1,C2,C3 and C4,the measured settling fluxes of biodeposition were 26.02,15.78,10.77,58.16,6.57,72.17,12.37,12.11,106.64,150.96,22.59,11.41,18.03,7.90,19.23,7.06,11.84,5.19 and 2.57 g d^(−1)m^(−2),respectively.The simulated settling fluxes of biodeposition at the corresponding sites were 16.03,23.98,8.87,46.90,4.52,104.77,16.03,8.35,180.83,213.06,39.10,17.47,20.98,9.78,23.25,7.84,15.90,6.06 and 1.65 g d^(−1)m^(−2),respectively.There was a positive correlation between the simulated settling fluxes and measured ones(R=0.94,P=2.22×10^(−9)<0.05),which implies that the spatial differentiation of biodeposition flux was well simulated.Moreover,the posterior difference ratio of the simulation was 0.38,and the small error probability was 0.94,which means that the simulated results reached an acceptable level from the perspective of relative error.Thus,if nonpoint source pollution is simplified to point source pollution and open waters are simplified based on similarity theory,the setting flux of biodeposition in the open waters can be simply and effectively simulated by the fluid simulation software Fluent.

Radiation Effect on Heat Transfer Analysis of MHD Flow of Upper Convected Maxwell Fluid between a Porous and a Moving Plate

The study in this manuscript aims to analyse the impact of thermal radiation on the two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic flow of upper convected Maxwell(UCM)fluid between parallel plates.The lower plate is porous and stationary,while the top plate is impermeable and moving.The equations that describe the flow are transformed into non-linear ordinary differential equations with boundary conditions by employing similarity transformations.The Homotopy Perturbation Method(HPM)is then employed to approach the obtained non-linear ordinary differential equations and get an approximate analytical solution.The analysis includes plotting the velocity profile for different Reynolds number values and temperature distribution curves for distinct physical parameters such as Reynolds number,Deborah number,magnetic parameter,porosity parameter,radiation parameter,and Prandtl number.In the case of injection,the temporal profile declines with an increase in radiation parameter as the plates move away from each other,and an opposite trend is observed as plates move towards each other.Furthermore,the skin friction coefficient and heat transfer rate are analysed for the impact of these parameters using HPM.The numerical values obtained using HPM are compared using the classical finite difference method.The results show good agreement between the semi-analytical and numerical solutions.

Quantitative comparison on the similarities and differences of Mongolian medicines in the treatment of liver diseases between China andMongolia based on data mining

Objective:The R language was used to quantitatively compare themedication patterns ofMongolian medicines used for the treatment of liver diseases between China and Mongolia,with a view to provide a reference for the research and clinical application of Mongolian medicines in the treatment of liver diseases.Methods:The Mongolian medicinal prescriptions used for treating liver disease in Mongolia were collected from the Mongolian Pharmacy and Mongolian Treatment Guide for Common diseases in Mongolian Medicine,and those used in China were collected from the Inner Mongolia Standard for Mongolian Proprietary Medicine and Annotation of Mongolian Medicine Preparation Specifications.After the database was established,the frequency,properties,and tastes of the Mongolian medicines were analyzed,and R studio was used for the association rules analysis and cluster analysis.Results:A total of 27 prescriptions used in Inner Mongolia,China,were collected involving 105 Mongolian medicines,with a total frequency of 284.Among them,there were 18 high-frequency medicines(frequency≥5),which had a frequency of 147,accounting for 51.76%of the total frequency.The medicine with the highest frequency(14,4.93%)was Carthamus tinctorius L..The analysis of the medicine data in China revealed 15 association rules.A total of 21 prescriptions used in Mongolia were collected,involving 92 Mongolian medicines,with a total frequency of 254.Among them,there were 17 high-frequency(frequency≥5)medicines,with a total frequency of 124(48.82%).The medicine with the highest frequency(13,5.12%)was Carthamus tinctorius L..The analysis of the medicine data in Mongolia revealed 79 association rules.In both regions,the high-frequency medicines used for treating liver disease commonly had cool or warm property with bitter or sweet taste.Conclusions:Carthamus tinctorius L.,Terminalia chebula Retz.,and other Mongolian medicines are commonly used to treat liver diseases in Inner Mongolia and Mongolia.The Mongolian medicines with cool or warm property and bitter,sweet,or astringent taste are commonly used to protect the liver.

From the perspective of humanities,connotations of landscape culture and cultural landscape were elaborated,components,types and characteristics of both were compared.In terms of component,cultural landscape in narrow sense can be interpreted as the intangible component of landscape culture;in terms of type,all types of cultural landscapes have corresponding landscape cultures;in terms of characteristics,both of them are independent and inclusive with regionality,accumulation and inheritance of the old,but landscape culture is hysteretic and stable while cultural landscape is unstable.Essence correlation,development correlation,coexistence correlation and mutual-transformation between landscape culture and cultural landscape were demonstrated.Considering landscape culture and cultural landscape as a constantly-evolving open theory system,it was proposed that inconformity of them has been formed in the historic development and "human" factor has always been an essential element.Under certain circumstances,cultural landscape and landscape culture were able to transform mutually.
