Based on studies on the hydrogen reduction process of tungsten oxide, a microcomputer system is described for reduction process control. The system, now running in Zhuzhou Tungsten and Molybdenum Materials Plant, controls the temperature of the reduction furnace and hydrogen pressure. It also controls a mechanical pusher which pushs the boats charged with blue tungsten oxide into the furnace tubes. Some of the technical problems in the process are analysed.展开更多
In this study,various operating parameters influencing performance of stationary grain crop threshers were established.These parameters were deduced from the established analytical models describing the underlying pri...In this study,various operating parameters influencing performance of stationary grain crop threshers were established.These parameters were deduced from the established analytical models describing the underlying principles for the crop characteristics and machine variables as factors influencing the overall machine performance of a stationary multi-crop thresher.A computer programme written in Visual Basic was used to select optimum operating performance of the threshing process in a stationary tooth–peg grain crop thresher.An IITA-popularized stationary multi-crop thresher was used to test the practical feasibility of the computer based output of the threshing process.A split–split–unit statistical design was used for data collection.The data collected were analyzed using the GENSTAT 5 statistical package with its computer programme.The results showed that graphs of data from measured thresher performance indices against the predicted data for all the established models indicated high correlation between the models and the measured data at p≤5%significance level.The minimum energy requirements for detachment of sorghum and rice were observed at the threshing cylinder speed of 500 r/min(10.5 m/s)and 615 r/min(13.0 m/s),respectively.The combination of the threshing cylinder speed of 500 r/min(10.5 m/s)and 615 r/min(13.0 m/s)at crop moisture content of 12.8%and 16.2%indicated optimum threshing conditions for sorghum and rice,respectively.展开更多

This paper will focus on the results of the core of the OBSS (on board stability system) module that, starting from the exact 3D geometry of a ship hull, described by a discrete model in a standard format, the distribution of all weights onboard and the data acquired by the system, calculates ship floating conditions (in draught, heel and trim). The proposed approach is based on geometry meshes represented by an universally accepted file format (named OBJ) first developed by Wavefront Technologies. Demonstration of the validity of the results is done by the authors using as hull model a simple rectangular box.展开更多

To help understanding the visualization results, the behaviour of coherent structures were analyzed. This paper presents metal fatigue problems in structural engineering using outcomes of recent advancements in numerical qualitative reasoning. Qualitative reasoning provides an effective and sound technique for solving complex and uncertain scenarios, regardless of the uncertainty or linearity of the design parameters and their constraints. This paper introduces the algorithms behind a software platform, built upon numerical qualitative reasoning for engineering applications. The software expresses the results of the analysis in variable ranges and diagrams showing a two-dimensional design space. The capability of representing design parameters and outcomes in solution spaces provides a practical way for engineers to leverage their existing knowledge and experience. Case studies in metal fatigue design are given to reflect on the capability of qualitative reasoning in engineering applications.展开更多
