The description logic concept is used to annotate service IO and the description logic assertion is employed to describe service PE(preconditions, effects). TBox subsumption checking is used to measure the subsumption relationship between IO descriptions of service request and advertising; ABox consistency checking is used for checking the logical implication between PE descriptions of service request and advertising. Based upon the logical implication, four kinds of PE matching degrees are proposed to measure and compare the pros and cons of the results of matchmaking. They are the exact, perfect, side-effect and common match. Experiments show that the method has a higher precision rate under the same recall rate compared with the existing method.展开更多

By treating service requests as temporal logic conditions and web services as temporal models, ASMA does service matchmaking through model checking. Therefore, ASMA makes service matchmaking more accurate and more adaptive to the variety of service requests and the diversity of web services. In this article this problem is mathematically formulated as an optimization problem. For this purpose the underlying search space and the objective function are defined precisely. In particular, data structures of search and offering profiles are proposed, as well as a function measuring the matching of the attributes of a search profile with the corresponding attributes of an offering profile. This objective function, given in Equation (29), is composed of the partial matching degrees for numerical attributes, discrete non-numerical attributes, and fields of interests, respectively. For the matching degree of numerical profile attributes a fuzzy value approach is presented, see Equation (22), whereas for the matching degree of fields of interest a new measure function is introduced in Equation (26). The resulting algorithm is illustrated by a concrete example. It not only is applicable to electronic social networks but also could be adapted for resource discovery in grid computation or in matchmaking energy demand and supply in electrical power systems and smart grids, especially to efficiently integrate renewable energy resources.展开更多

So far RSS information is mostly managed by content publishers but Internet users have less initiative to choose what they really need. More attention needs to be paid on techniques for user-initiative information discovery from RSS feeds. In this paper, a quantitative semantic matchmaking method for the RSS based applications is proposed. Semantic information is extracted from an RSS feed as numerical vectors and semantic matching can then be conducted quantitatively. Ontology is applied to provide a common-agreed matching basis for the quantitative matchmaking. In order to avoid semantic ambiguity of literal statements from distributed and heterogeneous RSS publishers, fuzzy inference is used to transform an individual-dependent vector into an individual-independent vector. In this paper, an innovative approach to effectively compute the semantic distance between Ontology Web Language for Services (OWL-S) annotated services is proposed. First, an edge-based method for measuring the semantic distance between Web Ontology Language (OWL) concepts is presented. Then, a comparison of the proposed measure and the one presented in a recent related work is made in order to show that our method is more efficient and fine-grained. Aimed at overcoming drawbacks such as subjec-tiveness and unfairness, and improving the self-configuration capability for autonomic element, we introduce evalua-tion mechanism of confidence of individual QoS attributes during ASC QoS matchmaking, i.e., fidelity factor for each attribute, and propose an ASC QoS matchmaking algorithm based on fidelity factor. Simulation experiments demon-strate that our proposed algorithm performs best performance in terms of QoS than other existing algorithms, and has better compromise between attribute quality and users’ evaluation when selecting ASC.展开更多
