National image is also an integral part of a country's foreign strategy. With further promotion of the going global strategy, Chinese overseas enterprises have become important participants in globalization and thus major actors shaping China's national image. However, several overseas enterprises have adversely affected China's national image due to lack of cooperation, lack of legal concepts, lack of environmental awareness, ignorance of social responsibility and cultural differences. To this end, the Chinese government should focus on raising awareness among overseas enterprises about national image, establishing a clear mechanism for the entry and exit of overseas enterprises, fostering publicity among overseas enterprises, strengthening the guidance of overseas enterprises in performing their duties, and guiding Chinese overseas enterprises to actively and effectively shape a responsible national image.展开更多

Although China's cultural "Charm Offensive" has not gone unnoticed, a variety of specific activities have not been subject to research so far. This paper, therefore, attempts to fill this research gap by analyzing Chinese state-level cultural diplomacy through a comparative case study of three China Culture Year events held in France (2004), Italy (2010), and Germany (2012). These findings are subsequently compared to the China Culture Year in Australia (2012), thereby allowing the identification of spatial variations. I argue that the Chinese government applies a general approach of organizing the events abroad by making use of local institu- tions. At the same time, through the strategic selection of events, the festivals portray distinct national images that transmit particular narratives of self-presentation to the European audience and take into account country-specific preferences.展开更多

In the Central Africa Republic (CAR), the lack of cross-sectional imaging before the year 2020 meant that no study had focused on cranioencephalic lesions. The aim of this study was to contribute to improving the management of cranioencephalic pathologies in CAR. Patients and Method: The study took place at the Bangui National Medical Imaging Centre (CNIMB). It was a retrospective study over a two-year period (March 1, 2021 to February 30, 2023). All patients referred for cranioencephalic CT scans were included, regardless of age or sex. Results: 1745 CT scans were performed, 575 of which were cranioencephalic CT scans. The majority of patients were male (53%). Most lived in the capital Bangui (90.9%). Patients aged 61 and over were the most representative. The distribution of patients by requesting department showed that the reception and emergency department was one of the least requesting departments. The main abnormalities observed were strokes, 82.1% of which were ischaemic strokes and 17.9% haemorrhagic strokes. Strokes were followed by degenerative lesions. Post-traumatic injuries included haemorrhagic contusions (38.3%), subdural haematomas in 20.5% of cases, and extradural haematomas (9.3%). Craniofacial lesions (fractures) were observed in 45.8% of cases. Conclusion: Cranioencephalic scans accounted for 1/3 of CT examinations performed during the study period. It revealed pathologies that could not be detected by conventional means. All in all, CT scans contributed to the diagnosis of cerebral pathologies.展开更多

It explores how modem Japanese femininity was constructed in relation to "civilization" (bunmei) and war. With the introduction of the Western notion of "civilization", the Meiji state tried to "civilize" its views on women to become on par with the West. As the status of women became a major national issue in the late 19th century, women began to regard themselves as important members of the nation through their involvement in patriotic activities. During the Second Sino-Japanese War and Asia Pacific War, women strengthened their ties to the nation by supporting the wars on the home front as mothers, wives, laborers, and members of women's association. This made patriotism, frugality, and selflessness essential to the definition of the Japanese woman. In addition to these qualities, chastity was central to the idealized image of the Japanese woman. Through the examination of the historical development of Japanese femininity, this article offers insight into the image of "good Japanese woman".展开更多

文摘In the context of globalization, although governments maintain the leading role in shaping the image of states, the increasing bilateral economic and trade exchanges are gradually becoming an equally important,if not more important, element. The recent years have witnessed a continuous growth of trade between China and Arab countries—a newly established crucial trading partner and platform for practicing the“going-out”strategy.Thanks to both sides complimenting each other,a positive win-win situation has been achieved. However,as more and more Chinese merchandises and enterprises have entered the Arab world, certain problems have emerged, such as poor quality of merchandises, illegal operation of enterprises, and difficulties of certain Chinese employees integrating into local life. These economic and trade elements have become key factors in shaping China’s image in the Arab countries, and hence should not be left unattended.

文摘This article investigates the impact of Chinese economic activities in Latin America on the national image of China in the region.Using economic and public opinion data from 17 Latin American countries from 2001 to 2016,this work relates cross-national time-series variations regarding China’s image in Latin America to changes in the economic ties(such as trade,FDI,and contracts)between the perceiving countries and China.Controlling for the size of the economy and the level of its development, the statis-tical analysis indicates that trade surplus against China in Latin America has a positive effect on the public perceptions of China in the region, while Chinese FDI outflows to Latin America lead to a negative effect. The effects of Chinese contracts, imports, and exports tend not to be statistically significant. We also find less developed Latin American countries with low life expectancy and low educational attainment tend to have a more positive view of China than their richer counterparts in the region. Finally,we find that Latin American countries under presidents with left-wing ideology have a much more positive view of China than countries under presidents with other ideological preferences.Diplomatic relations with China and China’s soft power influence as indexed by the presence of Confucius Institutes do not exhibit a strong impact on China’s national image in Latin America, compared with the dominant political ideology in a Latin American country as reflected in the president’s ideology.
