In this paper, an adaptive nonuniformity correction technique is proposed which simultaneously estimates detector-level and readout- channel-level correction parameters using neural network approaches. Firstly, an improved neural network framework is designed to compute the desired output. Secondly, an adaptive learning rate rule is used in the gain and offset parameter estimation process. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm can achieve a faster convergence speed and better stability, remove nonuniformity and track parameters drift effectively, and present a good adaptability to scene changes and nonuniformity conditions. 展开更多

An adaptive nonuniformity correction (NUC) algorithm for IRLS using neural network is proposed. It uses a one-dimensional median filter to generate ideal output of network and can complete NUC by a single frame with a high correction level. Applications to both simulated and real infrared images show that the algorithm can obtain a satisfactory result with low complexity, no need of scene diversity or global motion between consecutive frames. Reliability-based life-cycle cost seismic design optimization of coastal bridge piers with nonuniform corrosion using different materials

Reinforcement corrosion is the main cause of performance deterioration of reinforced concrete(RC)structures.Limited research has been performed to investigate the life-cycle cost(LCC)of coastal bridge piers with nonuniform corrosion using different materials.In this study,a reliability-based design optimization(RBDO)procedure is improved for the design of coastal bridge piers using six groups of commonly used materials,i.e.,normal performance concrete(NPC)with black steel(BS)rebar,high strength steel(HSS)rebar,epoxy coated(EC)rebar,and stainless steel(SS)rebar(named NPC-BS,NPC-HSS,NPC-EC,and NPC-SS,respectively),NPC with BS with silane soakage on the pier surface(named NPC-Silane),and high-performance concrete(HPC)with BS rebar(named HPC-BS).First,the RBDO procedure is improved for the design optimization of coastal bridge piers,and a bridge is selected to illustrate the procedure.Then,reliability analysis of the pier designed with each group of materials is carried out to obtain the time-dependent reliability in terms of the ultimate and serviceability performances.Next,the repair time of the pier is predicted based on the time-dependent reliability indices.Finally,the time-dependent LCCs for the pier are obtained for the selection of the optimal design. 展开更多

Uniform linear array(ULA)radars are widely used in the collision-avoidance radar systems of small unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).In practice,a ULA's multi-target direction of arrival(DOA)estimation performance suffers from significant performance degradation owing to the limited number of physical elements.To improve the underdetermined DOA estimation performance of a ULA radar mounted on a small UAV platform,we propose a nonuniform linear motion sampling underdetermined DOA estimation method.Using the motion of the UAV platform,the echo signal is sampled at different positions.Then,according to the concept of difference co-array,a virtual ULA with multiple array elements and a large aperture is synthesized to increase the degrees of freedom(DOFs).Through position analysis of the original and motion arrays,we propose a nonuniform linear motion sampling method based on ULA for determining the optimal DOFs.Under the condition of no increase in the aperture of the physical array,the proposed method obtains a high DOF with fewer sampling runs and greatly improves the underdetermined DOA estimation performance of ULA.The results of numerical simulations conducted herein verify the superior performance of the proposed method. 展开更多

For instance, the electric field of a charged ring (being a localized charge distribution) along its symmetry axis perpendicular to the ring through its center rather than as expected being a diminishing field encounters a local maximum bump. It is the objective of this research-oriented study to analyze the impact of this bump on the characteristics of a massive point-like charged particle oscillating along the symmetry axis. Two scenarios with and without gravity along the symmetry axis are considered. In addition to standard kinematic diagrams, various phase diagrams conducive to a better understanding are constructed. Applying Computer Algebra System (CAS), [1] [2] most calculations are carried out symbolically. Grinding is a crucial process in machining workpieces because it plays a vital role in achieving the desired precision and surface quality.However,a significant technical challenge in grinding is the potential increase in temperature due to high specific energy,which can lead to surface thermal damage.Therefore,ensuring control over the surface integrity of workpieces during grinding becomes a critical concern.This necessitates the development of temperature field models that consider various parameters,such as workpiece materials,grinding wheels,grinding parameters,cooling methods,and media,to guide industrial production.This study thoroughly analyzes and summarizes grinding temperature field models.First,the theory of the grinding temperature field is investigated,classifying it into traditional models based on a continuous belt heat source and those based on a discrete heat source,depending on whether the heat source is uniform and continuous.Through this examination,a more accurate grinding temperature model that closely aligns with practical grinding conditions is derived.Subsequently,various grinding thermal models are summarized,including models for the heat source distribution,energy distribution proportional coefficient,and convective heat transfer coefficient.Through comprehensive research,the most widely recognized,utilized,and accurate model for each category is identified.The application of these grinding thermal models is reviewed,shedding light on the governing laws that dictate the influence of the heat source distribution,heat distribution,and convective heat transfer in the grinding arc zone on the grinding temperature field.Finally,considering the current issues in the field of grinding temperature,potential future research directions are proposed.The aim of this study is to provide theoretical guidance and technical support for predicting workpiece temperature and improving surface integrity. 展开更多

The nonuniform distribution of interference spectrum in wavenumber k-space is a key issue to limit the imaging quality of Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography(FD-OCT).At present,the reconstruction quality at different depths among a variety of processing methods in k-space is still uncertain.Using simulated and experimental interference spectra at different depths,the effects of common six processing methods including uniform resampling(linear interpolation(LI),cubic spline interpolation(CSI),time-domain interpolation(TDI),and K-B window convolution)and nonuniform sampling direct-reconstruction(Lomb periodogram(LP)and nonuniform discrete Fourier transform(NDFT))on the reconstruction quality of FD-OCT were quantitatively analyzed and compared in this work.The results obtained by using simulated and experimental data were coincident.From the experimental results,the averaged peak intensity,axial resolution,and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)of NDFT at depth from 0.5 to 3.0mm were improved by about 1.9 dB,1.4 times,and 11.8 dB,respectively,compared to the averaged indices of all the uniform resampling methods at all depths.Similarly,the improvements of the above three indices of LP were 2.0 dB,1.4 times,and 11.7 dB,respectively.The analysis method and the results obtained in this work are helpful to select an appropriate processing method in k-space,so as to improve the imaging quality of FD-OCT. 展开更多

We discuss the nonuniformity,anisotropy and unhomogeneity of surface undulating shapes of joints. The neutron supermirror is an important neutron optical device that can significantly improve the efficiency of neutron transport in neutron guides and has been widely used in research neutron sources.Three types of algorithms,including approximately ten algorithms,have been developed for designing high-efficiency supermirror structures.In addition to its applications in neutron guides,in recent years,the use of neutron supermirrors in neutronfocusing mirrors has been proposed to advance the development of neutron scattering and neutron imaging instruments,especially those at compact neutron sources.In this new application scenario,the performance of supermirrors strongly affects the instrument performance;therefore,a careful evaluation of the design algorithms is needed.In this study,we examine two issues:the effect of nonuniform film thickness distribution on a curved substrate and the effect of the specific neutron intensity distribution on the performance of neutron supermirrors designed using existing algorithms.The effect of film thickness nonuniformity is found to be relatively insignificant,whereas the effect of the neutron intensity distribution over Q(where Q is the magnitude of the scattering vector of incident neutrons)is considerable.Selection diagrams that show the best design algorithm under different conditions are obtained from these results.When the intensity distribution is not considered,empirical algorithms can obtain the highest average reflectivity,whereas discrete algorithms perform best when the intensity distribution is taken into account.The reasons for the differences in performance between algorithms are also discussed.These findings provide a reference for selecting design algorithms for supermirrors for use in neutron optical devices with unique geometries and can be very helpful for improving the performance of focusing supermirror-based instruments. 展开更多

Working Principle and Error Analysis for Hemispherical Resonator Gyro under Force-rebalance Mode

The two control methods, namely the general-control and the quadrature-control modes for HRG under force-rebalance mode were introduced firstly. Then the azimuth of antinode on the hemispherical resonator was deduced. The dynamics equations of resonator under the nonuniformity of density distribution were established by way of Bubonov-Galerkin method which is commonly used for solution of differential equations, and the state equation was established through the dynamics equations. The analytic solutions of the vibration displacement and the velocity were achieved by solving the state equation, and then the ratio of rebalance excitation to primary excitation was derived under the two working modes, thus the estimation of input angular rate of HRG were obtained. By comparing and calculating these two modes, the error caused by resonator's machining defects can be greatly inhibited under quadrature-control, and the fourth harmonic density error's tolerance were calculated to ensure the accuracy of HRG under these two modes. 展开更多

Based on ensemble experiments with three atmospheric general circulation models(AGCMs), this study investigates the role of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation(AMO) in shaping the summer nonuniform warming over the Eurasian continent since the mid-1990 s. The results validate that the positive-phase AMO can indeed cause nonuniform warming,with predominant amplified warming over Europe–West Asia and Northeast Asia, but with much weaker warming over Central Asia. The underlying mechanism is then diagnosed from the perspective that the boundary forcing modulates the intrinsic atmospheric variability. The results highlight the role of the Silk Road Pattern(SRP), an intrinsic teleconnection pattern across the subtropical Eurasian continent propagating along the Asian jet. The SRP can not only be identified from the AGCM control experiments with the climatological sea surface temperature(SST), but can also be simulated by the AMO-related SST anomaly(SSTA) forcing. Furthermore, diagnostic linear baroclinic model experiments are conducted, and the results suggest that the SRP can be triggered by the AMO-related tropical diabatic heating. The AMO-triggered SRP-like responses feature anticyclonic circulations over Europe–West Asia and Northeast Asia, but cyclonic circulation over Central Asia. These responses cause increased warm advection towards Europe–West Asia and Northeast Asia, reduced precipitation and cloud cover, and then increased downward shortwave radiation. This increased warm advection and increased downward shortwave radiation together cause amplified warming in Europe–West Asia and Northeast Asia. The situation is opposite for Central Asia. 展开更多

The present climate simulations of the mixed layer depth(MLD) and the subduction rate in the subtropical Northeast Pacific are investigated based on nine of the CMIP5 models. Compared with the observation data,spatial patterns of the MLD and the subduction rate are well simulated in these models. The spatial pattern of the MLD is nonuniform, with a local maximum MLD(〉140 m) region centered at(28°N, 135°W) in late winter. The nonuniform MLD pattern causes a strong MLD front on the south of the MLD maximum region, controls the lateral induction rate pattern, and then decides the nonuniform distribution of the subduction rate. Due to the inter-regional difference of the MLD, we divide this area into two regions. The relatively uniform Ekman pumping has little effect on the nonuniform subduction spatial pattern, though it is nearly equal to the lateral induction in values. In the south region, the northward warm Ekman advection(–1.75×10–7 K/s) controls the ocean horizontal temperature advection(–0.85×10–7 K/s), and prevents the deepening of the MLD. In the ensemble mean, the contribution of the ocean advection to the MLD is about –29.0 m/month, offsetting the sea surface net heat flux contribution(33.9 m/month). While in the north region, the southward cold advection deepens the MLD(21.4 m/month) as similar as the heat flux(30.4 m/month). In conclusion, the nonuniform MLD pattern is dominated by the nonuniform ocean horizontal temperature advection. This new finding indicates that the upper ocean current play an important role in the variability of the winter MLD and the subduction rate. 展开更多

In this work, the image reconstruction in π-scheme short-scan single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with nonuniform attenuation is derived in its most general form when π-scheme short-scan SPECT entails data acquisition over disjoint angular intervals without conjugate views totaling to π radians. The reconstruction results are based on decomposition of Novikov's inversion operator into three parts bounded in the L2 sense. The first part involves the measured partial data; the second part is a skew-symmetric operator; the third part is a symmetric and compact contribution. It is showed firstly that the operators involved belong to L(L^2(B). Furthermore numerical simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed method. 展开更多

Pairwise thermal entanglement in a three-qubit Heisenberg XX model is investigated when a nonuniform mag- netic field and the Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction are included. We find that the nonuniform magnetic field and Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction are the more efficient control parameters for the increase of entanglement and critical temperature. For both the nearest neighbour sites and the next nearest neighbour sites, the magnetic field can induce entanglement to a certain extent and the Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction can enhance the entanglement to a stable value. The steady value of the nearest neighbour site entanglement C12 is larger than the next nearest neighbour site entanglement C13. An interesting phenomenon is that the entanglement curve of C12 appears a peak value when the Dzyaloshinski-Moriya interaction is considered in a nonuniform magnetic field. 展开更多
