METHODS: An epidemiological survey with respect to nutritional and psychological status in patients with gastrointestinal cancer was conducted among 182 operated patients in four provincial-level hospitals from December 2005 to June 2006. The food frequency survey method, state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI) and depression status inventory (DSI) were used to obtain information about the diet and psychological status in the patients. Nutritional status in the participants was reflected by serum albumin (Alb), hemoglobin (HB) and body mass index (BMI). RESULTS: Alb, protein intake and anxiety were associated with the severity of side effects of treatment. The adjusted relative risk (RR) for Alb, protein intake and anxiety was 3.30 (95% CI: 1.08, 10.10, P = 0.03), 3.25 (95% CI: 1.06, 9.90, P = 0.04) and 1.48 (95% CI: 1.29, 1.70, P < 0.0001), respectively. Moreover, calorie intake, HB and depression were associated with the recovery of physical performance status in the patients. Adjusted relative risk was 2.12 (95% CI: 1.09, 4.03, P = 0.028), 2.05 (95% CI: 1.08, 3.88, P =0.026) and 1.07 (95% CI: 1.02, 1.12, P = 0.007), respectively. CONCLUSION: Both poor nutrition status and psychological status are independent risk factors for severe side effects of cancer treatment, and have impact on the recovery of physical performance status in patients after treatment.展开更多

文摘Background:A cluster of pneumonia cases were reported by Wuhan Municipal Health Commission,China in December 2019.A novel coronavirus was eventually identified, and became the COVID-19 epidemic that affected public health and life.We investigated the psychological status and behavior changes of the general public in China from January 30 to February 3,2020.Methods:Respondents were recruited via social media(WeChat)and completed an online questionnaire. We used the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory,Self-rating Depression Scale, and Symptom Checklist-90 to evaluate psychological status. We also investigated respondents’behavior changes.Quantitative data were analyzed by t-tests or analysis of variance, and classified data were analyzed with chi-square tests. Results:In total,608 valid questionnaires were obtained.More respondents had state anxiety than trait anxiety(15.8%vs 4.0%).Depression was found among 27.1%of respondents and 7.7%had psychological abnormalities.About 10.1%of respondents suffered from phobia. Our analysis of the relationship between subgroup characteristics and psychological status showed that age, gender, knowledge about COVID-19,degree of worry about epidemiological infection, and confidence about overcoming the outbreak significantly influenced psychological status.Around 93.3%of respondents avoided going to public places and almost all respondents reduced Spring Festival-related activities. At least 70.9%of respondents chose to take three or more preventive measures to avoid infection. The three most commonly used prevention measures were making fewer trips outside and avoiding contact(98.0%),wearing a mask(83.7%),and hand hygiene(82.4%).Conclusions:We need to pay more attention to public psychological stress, especially among young people,as they are likely to experience anxiety, depression, and psychological abnormalities.Different psychological interventions could be formulated according to the psychological characteristics of different gender and age groups. The majority of respondents followed specific behaviors required by the authorities, but it will take time to observe the effects of these behaviors on the epidemic.
文摘BACKGROUND Some patients with coronary atherosclerotic heart disease experience major adverse cardiac events(MACE)and require readmission after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting(CABG)surgery. This is often attributed to patients'unhealthy lifestyles and dietary habits, inadequate understanding of the disease, and poor disease management compliance. Thus, searching for more targeted nursing intervention models that can enhance patients'self-management abilities and reduce the risk of readmission after CABG surgery is significant.AIM To observe the impact of specialized nursing outpatient case management on patients after CABG surgery.METHODS A total of 103 patients who underwent CABG surgery in our hospital between April 2021 and April 2022 comprised the study sample. The patients were divided into two groups using an odd-even number grouping method. The control group received routine nursing care, while the case management group received specialized nursing outpatient case management. The differences in psychological status, adherence to medical treatment,self-care ability, knowledge mastery, quality of life scores, and the occurrence rate of MACE were compared between the two groups.RESULTS After the intervention, the case management group had lower scores on the selfrating depression scale and self-rating anxiety scale and lower MACE rate,as well as higher scores for adherence to a healthy diet, medication adherence, good lifestyle habits, regular exercise, and timely follow-up,higher scores on the Coronary Heart Disease Self-Management Scale, higher scores for managing adverse habits, symptoms, emotional cognition, emergency response, disease knowledge, general lifestyle, and treatment adherence, higher scores for understanding coronary heart disease, recognizing the importance of medication adherence, understanding selfcare points after CABG surgery, and being aware of post-CABG precautions, higher scores for physical well-being,disease condition, general health,social-psychological well-being,and work-related aspects(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Specialized nursing outpatient case management can enhance patient adherence to medical treatment, knowledge mastery, psychological well-being,and overall quality of life in patients after CABG surgery.

文摘Unlike developed countries, the process of ageing in the developing country is a major and serious concern where the health infrastructure, geriatric system and social security remain underdeveloped. This paper aims to assess the gaps in quality of life among the elderly by socio-economic and demographic characteristics and to know the issues and challenges in the selected developing countries where Study on Global Ageing and Adult Health(SAGE)namely China,India,Ghana,South Africa,Mexico, and Russia has been conducted. The overall score indicates that there is a little variation in the quality of life across the countries, ranging from 52.1(China)to 45.5(Ghana).However,there is considerable variation in the quality-of-life score by socio-economic characteristics. From the existing policy perspectives, different aspects of old age policies are varied across the selected countries. The rapid expan-sion of the private sector into these areas is unlikely to benefit the bulk of the elders. The countries like India,South Africa and Mexico, where the private sector plays a major role, lack health care support for the elderly. However, financial support sig-nificantly contributes to the quality of life in terms of policy intervention in those countries. Thus, the respective governments need to address urgently the areas like health care, financial and social security to achieve the healthy lives and wellbeing for all of the sustainable development goals by 2030.
