The options...This article deals with the issue of water system management and emergency management of water supply systems based on experience with the operation of water systems in EU (European Union) Member States. The options available for prevention/elimination of the hazard of limited drinking water supply to the public are described. Current climate and, in some countries, also the existing social conditions pose barriers to a smooth water supply to the public. Various hazards endangering the quality and amounts of water produced emerge. Since the risk of water supply outages due to natural or anthropogenic factors cannot be completely eliminated (for instance, hacker attacks pose a new threat to the water companies' control systems), in other words, emergency situations where smooth water supply is disturbed cannot be ruled out, efforts must be made to at least minimise adverse impacts of such events on the users. Organisational and technical conditions minimising such hazards must be set up. A water production and distribution organization and management system must be introduced, which will be able to prevent and address such hazards and emergency situations. How to tackle this complex task in the real water system management conditions and to assure some minimal amount of water at least for strategic consumers is discussed in this article. The results of a water system operation risk analysis are presented, feasible methods to minimize such risks are described, and options to prevent and address such risks are proposed. A water company organisation and management system taking into account the possibility of development of emergency situations is set forth. Focus is on the use of a telemetric system as a system means that facilitates the prevention and possible addressing of any emergencies occurring during the operation of a water supply system.展开更多

This system combines B/S and C/S together, and it also uses three-tire application of ASP.NET which sets up a business subsystem based on functional module management in vehicle. Additionally, MFC solves the problems in weighing management systems. This system goes with unit testing, integration testing, and system testing, and the whole process realizes an effective monitoring from coal trucks applying for delivery, checking in, and weighing to checking out. Besides, it also secures precise and accurate weighing data, and deals with the new coming coal contract in a faster way. Thehardware of the system, including PCI interface control circuits, network interface circuits andlogic control circuits, is designed to automatically adapt its operation speed and mode to thenetwork and securely isolate the internal and external networks; the software of the system,including the security strategy management module, the security audit module, the database recordexchanging module, the file exchanging module and the mail exchanging module, is designed toefficiently exchange and manage the data transference between the internal and external networks.Also the driver of the system is implemented with Windows driver development kits (DDK) based onNetwork Driver Interface Specification (NDIS). File semantic has proven effective in optimizing large scale distributed file system.As a consequence of the elaborate and rich I/O interfaces between upper layer applications and file systems,file system can provide ...File semantic has proven effective in optimizing large scale distributed file system.As a consequence of the elaborate and rich I/O interfaces between upper layer applications and file systems,file system can provide useful and insightful information about semantic.Hence,file semantic mining has become an increasingly important practice in both engineering and research community.Unfortunately,it is a challenge to exploit file semantic knowledge because a variety of factors coulda ffect this information exploration process.Even worse,the challenges are exacerbated due to the intricate interdependency between these factors,and make it difficult to fully exploit the potentially important correlation among various semantic knowledges.This article proposes a file access correlation miming and evaluation reference(FARMER) model,where file is treated as a multivariate vector space,and each item within the vector corresponds a separate factor of the given file.The selection of factor depends on the application,examples of factors are file path,creator and executing program.If one particular factor occurs in both files,its value is non-zero.It is clear that the extent of inter-file relationships can be measured based on the likeness of their factor values in the semantic vectors.Benefit from this model,FARMER represents files as structured vectors of identifiers,and basic vector operations can be leveraged to quantify file correlation between two file vectors.FARMER model leverages linear regression model to estimate the strength of the relationship between file correlation and a set of influencing factors so that the "bad knowledge" can be filtered out.To demonstrate the ability of new FARMER model,FARMER is incorporated into a real large-scale object-based storage system as a case study to dynamically infer file correlations.In addition FARMER-enabled optimize service for metadata prefetching algorithm and object data layout algorithm is implemented.Experimental results show that is FARMER-enabled prefetching algorithm is shown to reduce the metadata operations latency by approximately 30%-40% when compared to a state-of-the-art metadata prefetching algorithm and a commonly used replacement policy.展开更多

This paper studied the causes of droughts in this region through field...Even though the precipitation is abundant in the Karst region of Guizhou Province, remote villages in this area frequently suffer severe droughts. This paper studied the causes of droughts in this region through field investigation and references collection. Based on the cause analysis, some suggestions were provided for hazard prevention and control from an engineering perspective. Besides occasional extreme weathers, the drought in this area is primarily caused by its unique geological structures of Karst plateau and underdeveloped agricultural techniques. Meanwhile, the vicious cycle between drought and poverty, which causes the deficiency of water conservancy facilities and hazard prevention awareness, is an important reason for the frequent occurrence of agricultural and socioeconomic drought. Considering the social and economic conditions of remote villages, the long-term control of drought can only be realized if current measures are capable of bring immediate effects and benefits. Therefore, the construction of well-planned and designed water conservancy system based on each village's natural and social conditions are the priority for current hazard prevention. Generally, the exploitation of subterranean river should be considered as the first choice to stabilize the water supply for remote villages. Meanwhile, the construction and improvement of micro water conservancy facilities, such as small water tank, small pond and so on, can effectively support the water providence during droughts as well.展开更多
Zero-energy buildings(ZEBs)can contribute to decarbonizing building energy systems,while the energy mismatch between energy demand and on-site stochastic generation in ZEBs increases the need for energy flexibility.Th...Zero-energy buildings(ZEBs)can contribute to decarbonizing building energy systems,while the energy mismatch between energy demand and on-site stochastic generation in ZEBs increases the need for energy flexibility.This study proposed mixed-integer linear programming energy management schemes for optimizing the flexible scheduling of distributed energy resources,including battery energy storage,heat pump,and building thermal mass as a passive thermal energy storage system.With optimally designed objectives,this study used case studies to evaluate the flexibility potential provided by the demand-side management,considering dynamic characteristics of the process.The results showed that the proposed demand-side management for battery storage offers significant potential in increasing photovoltaic(PV)self-consumption and reducing operational costs.Cost reduction ratios of flexible dispatch of combined PV and battery storage systems exceed 15%.Flexible coupling of PV and heat pump systems for meeting hot water demand can reduce energy cost by more than 20%.The flexible coupling of the heat pump and PV system also had a significant impact on the power consumption pattern of domestic heat pumps,the load-shifting potential highly depends on the available PV generation and hot water demand.The optimal trade-off between thermal energy use and thermal comfort violation may not reduce the total energy used for space heating,the increased PV consumption helped reduce grid imports.The study provides insights into the energy flexibility behavior and efficiency of the proposed demand-side management for ZEBs,which is expected to provide guidelines for exploring demand-side flexibility.展开更多
