Translation Ecology Analysis of The Book of Songs & Book of Poetry

Shi Jing is the necessary reference book about Chinese literature.Waley's the Book of Songs and Xu Yuanchong's Book of Poetry are two excellent reference books.So,this paper hopes to find a new way to analyze the two versions.This paper will use the theory to analyze and compare the two translation works on the perspective of translation ecology.

Probe into the Logic and Rhetoric of Propriety in The Book of Songs :Taking “Guan Ju” as the Core Example

The Book of Songs is a book of propriety passing on rites and teaching people by the form of poetry with unique logic and rhetoric.“Guan Ju”is the most typical poem deducing the propriety of humans from the laws of nature,which is acceptable,convinced and obeyed by the people naturally,friendly and eloquently.Therefore,the logic and rhetoric in The Book of Songs can be reconciled and self-consistent in the poetic thinking of the unity of heaven and humans.

Discussion on Chinese Ancient Literature Translation Based on the English Translation of the Book of Songs

The Book of Songs is an important part of Chinese traditional culture and enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad.This article is based on Turi’s theory of translation norms,and takes the English translation of The Book of Songs·Jing Jing by Richard Jacob and Xu Yuanchong as the research object.Comparative studies are made on the historical nature of understanding,the normativeness of translation,and the application of the fusion of horizons in the two versions of the Book of Songs.Incorporating history into translation brings the translation closer to the roots of history.The comparative research method proposed in this article can be widely used in various ancient literature studies,and has important theoretical and application values.

A Study on the Metaphorical Translation of Pound’s Book of Songs from the Perspective of Cognitive Linguistics

The Book of Songs is the first collection of Poems in China,which is a very important milestone in the history of Chinese literature.There are abundant metaphorical expressions in The Book of Songs,providing valuable resources for linguistics,rhetoric and literature research.This study selects the most representative metaphors of women and marriage in The Book of Songs as the research object.Guided by Lakoff and Johnson’s conceptual metaphor theory,this study explores the metaphorical translation in Pound’s Book of Songs from the perspective of cognitive effect.It is found that Pound mainly adopts the translation strategies of vehicle equivalence,vehicle conversion and metaphor to simile in the process of translating female metaphors and marriage metaphors in The Book of Songs.

Untranslatability in Onomatopoeia Translation—A Case Study of the Book of Songs

Classical poetry is a kind of special classical literature with highly concise language,rich emotion,profound implication and certain rhythm.The development of poetry translation is related to the spread of Chinese classical culture.There are many opinions about translatability and Untranslatability of poetry translation.The translation of meaning is relatively easy,while the rhetoric technique closely related to the form of expression is more difficult,which is the key to express the poet's feelings.There⁃fore,this paper aims to explore the untranslatability of onomatopoeia in poetry by combining with the Book of Songs.

On Code-switching in Chinese Popular Songs from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory

With the advancing of Globalization,the language contact among people all over the world has become increasingly frequently.As the direct outcome of the language contact,code-switching has deeply rooted in people’s daily life as a common phenomenon which has drew great concerns.This paper aims at doing the research based on Chinese popular songs as the corpuses which are collected from the Internet with the method of empirical studies.First the corpuses are classified according to different criteria and then with the theory of Adaptation,code switching has been studied through the adaptation to social conventions,linguistic realities and the psychology motivations.As a normal linguistic as well as social phenomenon,code-switching should be treated with strict and respect.

The Universal Grand Unified Theory Based on Life and Thought

The universe is life, which includes galaxies, living beings, society and man-made worlds. The universe is unified in life and thought. The universal grand unified theory is a theory to completely unify all phenomena in the universe with a fundamental mode （structural mode, operational mode, generation mode and evolution mode）. The book of changes of China： The great ultimate - two states - four images - eight hexagrams are life science and thought science theories, which represent the fundamental mode of universal unification, i.e. represent l） structural mode, operational mode, generation mode and evolution mode of life; 2） the four states that life has simultaneously： 0 dimension, ] dimension, 2 dimension, 3 dimension, and these four states have different structural and operational modes respectively; 3） the breathing and four seasonal trajectories of celestial bodies; 4） three generation modes of life： generation by transformation, generation by augmentation, and self-generation; 5） five dynamics systems inside life; 6） the sublimation and degration of life in the universe, the unification of religion and science; 7） the classification mode of the universal being; 8） the derivation mode of life; 9） the transformation between different forms of life in the universe; 10） the unification of six grand forces in the universe. 图书馆图书供应商选择的PROMETHEE/TOPSIS决策模型

图书供应商选择对图书馆各项功能的实现和未来的发展有着重要影响,这一重要问题的解决方法受到很多学者的关注。在构建图书供应商评价指标体系的基础上,提出了一种供应商选择的PROMETHEE/TOPSIS决策模型。模型通过向具有完全补偿性的TOPSIS方法中引入偏好函数,并结合摆动赋权方法,减少了决策信息的损失和扭曲,更好地反映了图书供应商间的差别。最后通过实例证明了该模型的有效性和实用性。

The Chinese Yin-Yang Thinking in Antoni Tàpies’Artistic Creation

The writings and artistic works of Antoni Tàpies(2009;2011)mirror the influences of the cosmic vision of the Chinese yin-yang.Signs,numbers,and creative procedures related to this correlative thought prevail in his art.Tàpies integrated different iconological codes from the ancient Chinese thinking into his art to question the existential meaning of the universe and to express his thoughts on the cultural and socio-political controversies of his time.In other words,the images,media,and techniques that he utilized for his works were extensions of his life experiences intertwined with various socio-historical facts and his personal feelings.

再论The Theory of Moral Sentiments书名的翻译——与蒋自强等、罗卫东及谢祖钧先生商榷

亚当·斯密的The Theory of Moral Sentiments一书为道德哲学领域中的经典之作。1997年,该书首个中译本问世,定名《道德情操论》。此后,该书经历多次复译,书名大多采用《道德情操论》这一译法。对此译法,来自不同学术背景的学者均颇有微词,建议改为《道德情感论》或《道德感情论》,体现了译者和学者们对相关词汇和著作内容的不同理解。考虑到该书的学术地位及著作标题翻译的重要性,本文从词汇含义、著作内容及标题翻译质量标准等方面对现有译法进行了分析,并在此基础上提出了新译法,以期增进我们对该书内容及学术著作标题翻译的理解。

The Effects of Shared Singing Picture Book Instruction on Chinese Immersion Kindergarteners’Spoken Vocabulary Recall and Retention

The present study investigates the effects of shared singing of a picture book on the Chinese vocabulary recall and retention of young bilingual learners in Chinese immersion programs using an experimental study design.One hundred and six immersion kindergarteners from three different school districts in the U.S.Midwest were assigned to the experimental group(n=53)and the control group(n=53)at the class level.The experimental group listened to a song-based storybook(also known as a story song)and shared in singing it,while the control group heard the same story,read aloud and shared in reading it.The pre-test was administered to determine the participants’vocabulary level before the study.Immediate and delayed post-tests were used to assess their immediate recall and delayed retention of vocabulary targeted in the shared reading/singing.Independent t-test and one-way ANOVA analysis were employed to examine differences between the two groups in vocabulary recall and retention.The results showed that the experimental group achieved greater improvement in their vocabulary than the control group.This finding suggests that shared singing can be a useful pedagogical tool for spoken vocabulary acquisition and retention in picture books.

近体诗名作多诗病原因--基于宋元人“诗病”观的讨论

许多高知名度的古代近体诗作存在不同程度的诗病,探究原因有助于把握古代近体诗创作观念,从而客观评价古代诗歌、指导今人创作。通过对近体诗名作和宋元诗话的考察,可知该现象原因有三:一是诗歌名作成为经典在先,而相关“诗病”观念形成在后;二是古代诗论家会结合诗人、作品语境看待诗病,对后人眼中的形式问题态度较包容;三是诗歌成为名作的原因复杂多样,印象式的接受过程和诗歌“以句名篇”的流传特点可能减弱、规避具体诗病在篇中的影响。名作而存诗病的现象揭示宋元人与今人不同的诗病观念与融通眼光,亦可见诗歌创作和接受体系之间的差异。

再议《诗经·邶风·静女》“彤管”“荑草”之英译

笔者聚焦于《诗经·邶风·静女》中两个充满象征涵义的关键词——“彤管”和“荑草”。通过引用前人在心理学、符号学等多个领域的研究,本研究选择古汉语语义和象征意义的角度分析,并针对各英文译本进行了比较和批评。研究发现,多数英文翻译由于缺乏对古汉语和文化背景的深入了解,往往无法准确地传达这两个意象的复杂含义。因此,本文也提出了一个新的翻译方案,旨在更准确地传达“彤管”和“荑草”的多层面含义,从而促进中西文化的交流和理解。

黄庭坚诗歌的典雅风貌及形成原因

典雅是宋诗的重要特质之一。黄庭坚作为北宋诗坛的集大成者,他的诗歌是宋代“以文字为诗”“以才学为诗”风气的典型代表,形成了浓厚的典雅风貌,主要表现为善于用典、法度谨严、兴寄高远、以俗为雅等特征。而其形成,则与北宋的时代环境及黄庭坚个人的诗学理论、诗艺追求具有密切联系。通过研究黄庭坚诗歌的典雅风貌,可以更为深刻地体察其审美风格、诗法句法及思想意蕴特点,进而探究黄庭坚诗学理论体系的形成及对后学和宋诗发展的影响。

The Common Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) Song

A 1.5-hour recording of six (Gulf of Mexico) captive common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) at Sea Life Park, Hawaii shows that: 1) they have a song of a sequence of tonal (often slurred) notes. The evidence for their song comes from: a) their emitting songs that were complex (both tonally and rhythmically), b) their likely improvising (as inferred from their most complex songs not being repeated), c) songs based on a theme (used repeatedly), d) a bout of singing (at times) including social creativity, e) songs with a distinct beginning, middle and end section, and f) one song consisting of in part, a theme, 2) their songs are not sung in key (as determined from analysing the beginning tonal value of a note with spectral-frequency analysis), and 3) are sung in bouts, and 4) mostly with tonal-striated vocalizations (in the literature termed squawks and bray calls). Their apparent creativity (likely improvisations) and social creativity are of importance to how they evolved cognitively, to the study of song culture (between populations and delphinid species), understanding their (intra and inter-species) associations, and kinds of relationships, determining individual personalities, and perhaps will provide supporting evidence for their ability to reason. As inferred, they sing without being intentionally manipulative from: 1) their use of Gquic psychology [1] (as explained in this article), and 2) as inferred from their likely having an ability to reason [1] [2] (as deduced from their behavioural ecology (their unique exceptional evolutionary freedom), including their comparatively peaceful composure between conspecifics, in line with the proof of The Peaceful Composure Theorem), suggesting (per The Peaceful Composure Theorem) they have an egalitarian-like society. Their interspecies (displaced) aggression towards smaller odontocete species is shown to be a function of jealousies that emerge from their stronger social bonds than other species, from their compassionate nature, and females and males not pairing up in long-term associations. Species with greater cultural freedom are shown to have a more complex song providing further evidence for species culture not crucial to survival. The conclusive evidence for specie culture from my recent publications is of relevance to the scientific community’s acceptance of two new theories of evolution, and Gquic psychology. The loud burst-pulse sounds, chasing, charging and raking behaviours described in the literature could be a play behaviour, ought not be labelled as aggressive behaviours, as inferred from dog mock-fight play behaviour. In regard to future comparative behavioural ecology studies, aggressive animal behaviour should only be defined as an act of displacement (that is shown to commonly occur in the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin species (Tursiops aduncus)), or as acts of biting, and hitting.

痛风病中医认识源流考

痛风病是与高尿酸血症、尿酸盐沉积密切相关的慢性、进展性、致残性代谢疾病。本文旨在系统梳理痛风病各阶段相关的中医药古籍记载,厘清其中医药认识发展脉络,明确各时期对痛风病的认知及其特点,为痛风病深入研究和临床防治提供中医药理论支撑。通过查阅先秦至明清时期中医医论、方书、本草及医案106部,从中归纳整理有关痛风病的中医药认识,包括病名、症状、病因病机及治疗用药等,探析其发展源流。先秦时期,中医药古籍零星记载了痛风病各阶段的症状、病名和(或)病因病机;汉至隋唐,医家在扩充病名、症状及病因病机的基础上,提出了多种内外治法,标志着痛风病理论形成;宋元明清,证候分型、鉴别诊断及饮食禁忌等论述丰富了这一理论。中医药对痛风病的认识萌芽于先秦,理论形成于汉至隋唐,丰富发展于宋元明清,逐渐形成了一套较为全面的痛风病中医理论体系。
