The key objective of this article is to use the David Hay’s conception of spirituality in the vocational training of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) professionals. The purpose of this research is to investigate the connection between spirituality and vocational training of ICT professionals. The spirituality model founded by David Hay has been used in this research article which contains awareness sensing, mystery sensing, and value sensing. The paper has used qualitative methodology and instruments for data collection are biographical interview. Qualitative data have been analyzed by using Nvivo 11. Initial results show the preliminary picture of the role of spirituality in vocational training of ICT professionals. 展开更多

Education contributes closely to the supervision of students and remains the responsibility of educators and education inspectors. But each education staff admits the number of students supported. This number is two hundred and eighty (280) students per educator and one thousand two thousand (2000) per education inspector. Our study aims at taking stock of the adequacy between school enrollment and education staff enrollment from a WebSIG for vocational training schools in C<span style="color:#4F4F4F;font-family:-apple-system, "font-size:16px;white-space:normal;background-color:#FFFFFF;">&#244;</span>te d’Ivoire. To achieve this, the methodology adopted led us to use the MERISE analysis method for setting up the database, web programming languages (HTML 5, PHP, CSS, XML and JavaScript), AJAX technology, Apache web server, DBMS (MySQL), Google Maps API. The results from the use of WebSIG highlight the disparity in the distribution of education personnel. These results also show which schools remain in need as well as in excess. 展开更多

Strategies and Perspectives of School Actors During a Reform of Vocational Training in Luxembourg

Since 2008, a reform of vocational training is being implemented in the upper level of secondary education in Luxembourg. The new method consists of: (1) teaching through competencies; (2) modular training where ... Since 2008, a reform of vocational training is being implemented in the upper level of secondary education in Luxembourg. The new method consists of: (1) teaching through competencies; (2) modular training where modules can be repeated until they are achieved; and (3) evaluation which has been changed from quantitative to qualitative. The reform continues to face ongoing challenges and resistance from the different actors involved in vocational training. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with the relevant actors in order to analyse their strategies and perspectives during and after the reform: representatives of the Ministry of Education, teaching staff, school administrations, enterprises, parents, and pupils. A heuristic model of resistance to change in education was constructed, based on these interviews. A general fatigue with the reform has spread; and this is at a moment when the Ministry wants to implement new changes to the aforementioned law. In order to make the reform viable, a new negotiated agreement based on the interests of the different players should be achieved. 展开更多

E-learning platforms support education systems worldwide, transferring theoretical knowledge as well as soft skills. In the present study high-school pupils’, and adult students’ opinions were evaluated through a modern structured MOODLE interactive course, designed for the needs of the laboratory course “Automotive Systems”. The study concerns Greek secondary vocational education pupils aged 18 and vocational training adult students aged 20 to 50 years. The multistage, equal size simple random cluster sample was used as a sampling method. Pupils and adult students of each cluster completed structured 10-question questionnaires both before and after attending the course. A total of 120 questionnaires were collected. In general, our findings disclosed that the majority of pupils and adult students had significantly improved their knowledge and skills from using MOODLE. They reported strengthening conventional teaching, using the new MOODLE technology. The satisfaction indices improved quite, with the differences in their mean values being statistically significant. 展开更多

Purpose:This study aims to answer the following questions:(1)Why have attempts to transplant Western vocational education models failed?(2)Is there anything we can learn from the experiences of Eastern Asian countries when developing their own vocational education models?Design/Approach/Methods:This study reviews the history of transplanting Western skill formation schemes into developing countries,an often-failed die-hard practice supported by both bilateral and multilateral donors.Findings:Our findings suggest that developing countries should design their technical and vocational education and training systems based on their unique cultural,sociological,and economic contexts.It offers two alternative pathways based on the experiences of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea.Originality/Value:These East Asian examples could broaden the perspectives of policymakers in developing countries aspiring to develop functional skill formation schemes. 展开更多

Many individuals with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)experience delays in the development of social and communications skills,which can limit their opportunities in higher education and employment resulting in an overall negative impact to their quality of life.This systematic review identifies 15 studies that explored the effectiveness of Video-Based Interventions(VBIs)for those with ASD during the critical years of adolescence and young adulthood.The 15 studies described herein found this to be an effective intervention for this population for the improvement of their vocational,daily living,and academic skills.In addition,VBIs allow for the maintenance and generalization of the different target behaviors that were examined.The majority of the studies located by this review also investigated the social validity of the intervention method with participants and caregivers and found these VBIs to have high social validity.Although a few studies that implemented VBIs to improve academic skills were located,the research on their use in this area was found to be lacking,indicating a gap in the research on VBIs.Increased usage of VBIs—including video modeling and video prompting—with the target population of those aged 15–28 with ASD is recommended with specific attention given to the use of VBIs to improve the academic and social skills of adolescents and young adults with ASD. 展开更多

This study explores the impact of China’s Belt and Road Initiative on improving vocational education quality and employment rates in Kenya through a collaborative educational program known as the Kenya-China Technical and Vocational Education and Training(TVET)project.The opinions and narratives of teachers and students with vibrant knowledge of the project were analyzed through the theoretical lenses of globalization and vocationalism.The results show that the Kenya-China TVET Project has improved Kenyan TVET classrooms with modern equipment to meet industrial standards and allowed essential skills to be developed through various collaborative opportunities with Chinese corporations.Despite minor challenges and obstacles,early evidence suggests benefits brought by the project including increased self-employment,a growth in Kenya’s manufacturing,and more mutual understanding between the two countries. 展开更多

The lack of routine and training of command units and emergency managers is among the main causes of suboptimal decisions and could lead to serious consequences.To ensure optimal standards of emergency management training,specific and valid evaluation tools are needed—but are lacking.Thus,the present study’s purpose is to validate instruments for the evaluation of tactical and strategic leader trainings,in particular command unit trainings,based on survey data of n=288 German Command Unit members.Resulting questionnaires were named"FIRE-CU"(Feedback Instrument for Rescue forces Education–Command Unit)and"FIRE-CPX"(Feedback Instrument for Rescue forces Education-Command Post e Xercise scale).Results of confirmatory factor analyses show a good fit for the postulated four-dimensional structure of process scales in the FIRE-CU(trainer’s behavior,structure,overextension,group),for the two-dimensional structure of outcome scales in the FIRE-CU(self-rated competence,transfer),and for the one-dimensional structure of the FIRE-CPX.Further,strong evidence is found for reliability as well as for convergent,divergent,and concurrent validity of both the FIRE-CU and FIRE-CPX.Implications for research and practical application are also discussed to enable broad applicability in various educational programs for public security and crisis management. 展开更多

Policymakers in developing countries have prioritized the mass expansion of vocational education and training(VET).This study examines whether the quality of VET in developing countries increases by investing greater resources per student.To achieve this goal,we examine the impacts of attending model schools(which have far more resources per student)on a range of student cognitive,non-cognitive,and behavioral outcomes.Using representative data from a survey of approximately 12,000 VET students from China,multivariate regression and propensity score matching analyses show that attending model vocational high schools do not benefit student outcomes,despite their substantially greater resources. 展开更多
