Lipid-lowering drugs such as statins can lower the risk of liver cancer, but may also cause liver damage. LipoCol Forte capsules(LFC), a red yeast rice product, have demonstrated significant antihypercholesterolemic effects and a good safety profile in clinical studies.AIM To evaluate whether LFC lowers the risk of liver cancer in adults in this propensity score-matched, nationwide, population-based cohort study.METHODS We used data from Taiwan’s National Health Insurance Research Database, which includes electronic medical records for up to 99.99% of Taiwan’s population. LFC users and LFC non-users were matched 1:1 by propensity scores between January 2010 and December 2017. All had followup data for at least 1 year. Statistical analyses compared demographic distributions including sex, age, comorbidities, and prescribed medications. Cox regression analyses estimated adjusted hazard ratios(aHRs) after adjusting for potential confounders.RESULTS We enrolled 33231 LFC users and 33231 non-LFC users(controls). No significant differences between the study cohorts were identified regarding comorbidities and medications [standardized mean difference(SMD) < 0.05]. At follow-up, the overall incidence of liver cancer was significantly lower in the LFC cohort compared with controls [aHR 0.91;95% confidence interval(CI): 0.86-0.95;P < 0.001]. The risk of liver cancer was significantly reduced in both females(aHR 0.87;95%CI: 0.8-0.94;P < 0.001) and males(aHR 0.93;95%CI: 0.87-0.98;P < 0.01) in the LFC cohort compared with their counterparts in the non-LFC cohort. The antitumor protective effects applied to patients with comorbidities(including hypertension, ischemic stroke, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, hepatitis B infection and hepatitis C infection). Those using LFC for more than 84 drug days had a 0.64-fold lower risk of liver cancer compared with controls(P < 0.001). Compared with controls, the risk of developing liver cancer in the LFC cohort progressively decreased over time;the lowest incidence of liver cancer occurred in LFC users followed-up for more than 6 years(27.44 vs 31.49 per 1,000 person-years;aHR 0.75;95%CI: 0.68-0.82;P < 0.001).CONCLUSION This retrospective cohort study indicates that LFC has a significantly protective effect on lowering the risk of liver cancer, in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner.展开更多

In contrast, CapsNet overcomesthese limitations by vectorizing information through increased directionality and magnitude, ensuring that spatialinformation is not overlooked. Therefore, this study proposes a novel expression recognition technique calledCAPSULE-VGG, which combines the strengths of CapsNet and convolutional neural networks. By refining andintegrating features extracted by a convolutional neural network before introducing theminto CapsNet, ourmodelenhances facial recognition capabilities. Compared to traditional neural network models, our approach offersfaster training pace, improved convergence speed, and higher accuracy rates approaching stability. Experimentalresults demonstrate that our method achieves recognition rates of 74.14% for the FER2013 expression dataset and99.85% for the CK+ expression dataset. By contrasting these findings with those obtained using conventionalexpression recognition techniques and incorporating CapsNet’s advantages, we effectively address issues associatedwith convolutional neural networks while increasing expression identification accuracy.展开更多

(3) Synergistic action in hypnosia by Yinao capsules with pentobarbital sodium of sub-threshold dosage: Eighty mice were randomly divided into 5 groups as above-mentioned with 16 mice in each group, and they were treated the same as above. They were intraperitoneally injected with 27 mg/kg pentobarbital sodium after 60 minutes from the last administration. Mice whose righting reflex disappeared for at least 1 minute within 30 minutes were taken as falling asleep, the number of sleeping animals in each group was recorded, and the rate of falling asleep was calculated. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Synergistic action of Yinao capsules with pentobarbital sodium of threshold and sub-threshold dosages in hypnosia and sedation. RESULTS: All the 200 mice were involved in the analysis of results. (1) Influence of Yinao capsules on the spontaneous activity of mice: The times of spontaneous activities within 10 minutes in the large and middle dosage of Yinao capsules groups and Kangnaoshuai capsules group [(138.0±37.0), (156.8±28.3), (133.3±46.1) times] were obviously fewer than those in the control group [(204.3±61.3) times, P 〈 0.05- 0.01]. The arising times within 10 minutes in the middle and small dosages of Yinao capsules groups and Kangnaoshuai capsules group [(30.7 ± 18.3), (26.5± 11.2), (24.2±11.6) times] were obviously fewer than those in the control [(71.7±38.6) times, P 〈 0.01 ]. (2) Synergistic action in hypnosia by Yinao capsules with pentobarbital sodium of threshold dosage: The sleeping latencies in the large and middle dosages of Yinao capsules groups and Kangnaoshuai capsules group [(4.49±1.84), (4.83±1.72), (3.85± 1.94) minutes] were obviously shorter than that in the control group [(6.73 ±2.75) minutes, P 〈 0.05 - 0.01 ]. The sleeping time in the large, middle and small dosages of Yinao capsules groups and Kangnaoshuai capsules group [(89.0± 38.42), (67.21 ±24.07), (66.28±18.94), (84.36±29.81) minutes] were obviously longer than that in the control group [(45.78±20.78) minutes, P 〈 0.05- 0.01]. (3) Synergistic action in hypnosia by Yinao capsules with pentobarbital sodium of sub-threshold dosage: The rates of falling asleep in the large and middle dosages of Yinao capsules groups were higher than that in the control group [56% (9/1 6), 38% (6/1 6), 6% (6/16), P 〈 0.01, 0.05], whereas Kangnaoshuai capsules and small dosage of Yinao capsules had no synergistic action with pentobarbital sodium of sub-threshold dosage (P 〉 0.05). CONCLUSION: Yinao capsules have synergistic action with pentobarbital sodium in hypnosia. Yinao capsules possess obvious sedative and hypnotic effects in a dosage-dependent manner.展开更多

It remains poorly understood whether this capsule can be used to treat post-stroke depression. Thus, in the present study, we established a rat model of post-stroke depression using left middle cerebral artery occlusions in combination of chronic unpredictable stress and solitary housing during development. Experimental rats received intragastric perfusion with 0.82, 0.41, and 0.20 g/kg Xingnao Jieyu capsules separately dissolved in 2 mL distilled water. Fluoxetine served as a positive control. The treatment was conducted over 28 days. Sugar water consumption test, open-field test, real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR and immunohistochemical staining results demonstrated that intragastric perfusion with various doses of Xingnao Jieyu capsules increased sugar water consumption, voluntary behaviors and synaptotagmin mRNA and protein expression in rats with post-stroke depression. These therapeutic effects were similar to those of fluoxetine. These results indicate that Xingnao Jieyu capsules upregulate synaptotagmin expression in hip pocampi of rats with post-stroke depression, and exert antidepressant effects.展开更多

Field-dependent magnetization plot illustrates that the capsules are superparamagnetic at 300 K. FTIR spectrum confirms that the myoglobin (Mb) molecule adsorbed on the surface of Fe3O4/PPy hollow particle essentially retains its native structure. Furthermore, direct electrochemistry of Mb can be realized on Fe3O4/PPy capsules modified pyrolytic graphite disk electrode, which indicates that the magnetic conductive polymer capsules can promote the electron transfer of protein.展开更多
文摘The millimeter-scale capsules with controllable morphology,ultra-low permeability and excellent mechanical stability were fabricated by millifluidics.Viscosity of inner phase was adjusted to control the morphology and properties of the capsules. In detail,as the concentration of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)increased from 0 to 8% in the inner phase of the capsules, the diameter of capsules decreased from 3.33 ± 0.01mm to 2.97 ± 0.01 mm,the shell thickness of capsules decreased from 0.183 ± 0.004 mm to 0.155 ± 0.003 mm.While the capsules had round shape and high sphericity.Notably, the capsules with 2% PVA in the inner phase had remarkably decreased water permeability and good morphological stability.Specifically, the end-time of water losing of the capsules was up to 49 days, while the dehydrated capsules maintained spherical appearance, and crushing force of the capsules was up to 13.73 ± 0.79 N,which ensured stability during processing and transportation. This research provides a new strategy for stable encapsulation of small molecules.

文摘BACKGROUND Liver cancer is among the top five most common cancers globally. Compared with controls, the risk of developing liver cancer in the LFC cohort progressively decreased over time;the lowest incidence of liver cancer occurred in LFC users followed-up for more than 6 years(27.44 vs 31.49 per 1,000 person-years;aHR 0.75;95%CI: 0.68-0.82;P < 0.001).CONCLUSION This retrospective cohort study indicates that LFC has a significantly protective effect on lowering the risk of liver cancer, in a dose-dependent and time-dependent manner.

文摘Convolutional neural networks struggle to accurately handle changes in angles and twists in the direction of images, which affects their ability to recognize patterns based on internal feature levels. By contrasting these findings with those obtained using conventionalexpression recognition techniques and incorporating CapsNet’s advantages, we effectively address issues associatedwith convolutional neural networks while increasing expression identification accuracy.
文摘BACKGROUND Ischemic colitis(IC)is also known as colon ischemia and is caused by colon vascular occlusion or nonocclusion, which results in a reduced blood supply to the colon and is not significant enough to maintain the metabolic function of cells, leading to intestinal wall ischemia. Its main symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and bloody stool. In severe cases, intestinal gangrene, peritonitis, intestinal stenosis and even intestinal obstruction may occur.IC induced by long-term use of certain special drugs is relatively rare in clinical practice. This article describes the clinical diagnosis and treatment of a typical case and provides a new treatment idea for the treatment of IC.CASE SUMMARY The patient was admitted to the hospital with"abdominal pain for half a month and bloody stool with mucous and pus for 3 d"and was diagnosed with"IC".Symptomatic and supportive treatment, such as antibiotics(levofloxacin),acid inhibition and stomach protection, fluid replenishment, and intravenous nutrition, was given. The patient's colonic ulcers were considered to be related to the oral administration of platelet(PLT)-raising capsules;the patient was asked to stop PLT-raising drugs for selective review via colonoscopy, and antibiotics and mesalazine enteric-coated tablets were stopped.Under the guidance of hematology consultation,60 mg of methylprednisolone was given in combination with PLT infusion to increase the PLT.After treatment, the patient's condition stabilized, the patient’s stool turned yellow, the patient’s symptoms improved, and the patient was allowed to leave the hospital.CONCLUSION PLT-raising capsules can lead to IC,so clinicians should have a full understanding of the application of these drugs in the treatment of various causes of thrombocyt-INTRODUCTION Ischemic colitis(IC)is also known as colon ischemia(CI)and is caused by colon vascular occlusion or nonocclusion, which results in a reduced blood supply to the colon;this process is not significant enough to maintain the metabolic function of cells, leading to intestinal wall ischemia[1].Its main symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and bloody stool. In severe cases, intestinal gangrene, peritonitis, intestinal stenosis and even intestinal obstruction may occur[2,3].The pathogenesis of this disease has not been extensively studied, but increased clotting ability has been recognized as an important factor in the pathogenesis of IC[4].People older than 60 years(especially women)who suffer from certain underlying diseases, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes, and shock, are the most prone to colon IC.The lesions can involve any segment of the colon, among which the left half of the colon, such as the sigmoid colon, descending colon and spleen region,is the most common site of lesions. This is because the region south of the sigmoid colon is the"watershed region"of the colonic blood supply, where vascular dysplasia may easily cause ischemia. In addition, the left half of the colon is supplied by the inferior mesenteric artery, which is at an acute angle to the abdominal aorta and affects blood perfusion. The rectum is supplied by both the inferior mesenteric artery and the rectal artery, and ischemia is rare. Therefore, the IC lesions were mainly in the left colon, and most of them were of the first pass type. The disease is relatively mild and can be cured after conservative medical treatment,so the prognosis is favorable[5-7].Once ischemia improves, the patient’s condition can recover in a relatively short time, and this condition can be distin-guished from other types of enteritis[5-7],such as infectious colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, pseudomembranous enteritis, diverticulitis, colon cancer, and acute mesenteric ischemia.Clinically, ischemic colitis can be divided into gangrene and nongrene. The latter can also be subdivided into transient and chronic types.Treatment for IC usually includes fasting, gastrointestinal decompression, intravenous nutritional support, improved circulation, fluid resuscitation, empirical use of antibiotics and other symptomatic supportive treatments, and attention should be given to the treatment of the primary disease. Most patients will experience improvements in clinical symp-toms within 1 to 2 d,and patients with complications may require surgery. However,IC induced by long-term use of certain special drugs is relatively rare in clinical practice. This article describes the clinical diagnosis and treatment of a typical case and provides a new treatment idea for the treatment of ischemic colitis.

文摘[Objectives]To observe the clinical efficacy of Sanying capsule combined with Xiaoying Patch in treating thyroid nodule(TN).[Methods]Two groups were treated similarly, with 200 cases in the control group undergoing basic treatment for 12 weeks and 198 cases in the observation group receiving Sanying capsule combined with Xiaoying patches for the same duration. The clinical symptoms, number of nodules, diameter of the largest nodule, and maximum reduction of nodules were observed before and after treatment.A control analysis was performed, and the underlying mechanisms were explored.[Results]The primary symptoms of the observation group exhibited a more favorable improvement than those of the control group.Additionally, the number of nodules decreased, the diameter of the largest nodule decreased, and the maximum reduction of nodules decreased in both groups following treatment. However, the observation group demonstrated a more pronounced improvement than the control group(P<0.05).[Conclusions]The combination of Sanying capsule and Xiaoying patch has been demonstrated to be an effective treatment for TN,with a high degree of reliability in terms of safety.
文摘In 2000,the small bowel capsule revolutionized the management of patients with small bowel disorders.Currently, the technological development achieved by the new models of double-headed endoscopic capsules,as miniaturized devices to evaluate the small bowel and colon[pan-intestinal capsule endoscopy(PCE)],makes this non-invasive procedure a disruptive concept for the management of patients with digestive disorders. This technology is expected to identify which patients will require conventional invasive endoscopic procedures(colonoscopy or balloon-assisted enteroscopy),based on the lesions detected by the capsule,i.e.,those with an indication for biopsies or endoscopic treatment. The use of PCE in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases, namely Crohn’s disease,as well as in patients with iron deficiency anaemia and/or overt gastrointestinal(GI)bleeding, after a non-diagnostic upper endoscopy(esophagogastroduodenoscopy),enables an effective, safe and comfortable way to identify patients with relevant lesions, who should undergo subsequent invasive endoscopic procedures. The recent development of magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy to evaluate the upper GI tract,is a further step towards the possibility of an entirely non-invasive assessment of all the segments of the digestive tract, from mouth-to-anus,meeting the expectations of the early developers of capsule endoscopy.

文摘Background:Oxidative stress is one of the key elements in the progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),and Yiqi Tongluo capsule(YTC)have a variety of physiological activities which include antioxidant. The purpose of this investigation was to discover the potential mechanisms of YTC ameliorates NAFLD.Methods:In this investigation,a high-fat diet(HFD)was adopted to establish a NAFLD mouse model.Liver samples were stained for oil red O and hematoxylin and eosin staining. The levels of total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),malondialdehyde(MDA),and superoxide dismutase(SOD)in the tissues were also detected.Network pharmacology was analyzed to filter out the key ingredients and targets of effect of YTC for the therapy of NAFLD.Subsequently, free fatty acids(FFA)was applied to induce Aml12 cells for in vitro experiments, and the cell samples were stained with oil red O and assayed for TC,TG,MDA,and SOD contents. At last, the Western blot technique was used to illuminate the pathway by which YTC plays a protective role against NAFLD.Results:Histopathological results demonstrated that YTC ameliorated tissue damage in the HFD-induced mouse model. At the same time,it also reduced the contents of TC,TG,MDA and increased the expression of SOD in the liver tissue of NAFLD mouse model. All of these findings demonstrate that YTC can play a role in the treatment of NAFLD by ameliorating oxidative stress.Network analysis of YTC ameliorates NAFLD mainly by modulating the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway.Follow-up in vitro experiments revealed that FFA caused lipid accumulation in Aml12 cells, which was dramatically reduced by YTC.Meanwhile,YTC could remarkably reduce the FFA-induced elevation of TC,TG,and MDA contents, and reverse the FFA-induced reduction of SOD contents.Western blot was verified for the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. It was found that FFA could remarkably decrease the expression of p-PI3K,p-Akt,and p-GSK-3βproteins,which could be significantly increased after YTC treatment. Conclusions:The combination of network analysis prediction and experimental verification was used to identify the therapeutic effect of YTC on NAFLD.The protective effect was achieved by YTC through upregulation of PI3K-Akt-GSK-3βpathway.

文摘The Xingnao Jieyu capsule has been shown to effectively relieve neurologic impairments and les- sen depression. These results indicate that Xingnao Jieyu capsules upregulate synaptotagmin expression in hip pocampi of rats with post-stroke depression, and exert antidepressant effects.

文摘Monodispersed Fe3O4/polypyrrole (PPy) hollow particles were synthesized via controllable in-situ deposition and polymerization techniques using poly(styrene-co-acrylic) (PSA) latex as template. Field-dependent magnetization plot illustrates that the capsules are superparamagnetic at 300 K. FTIR spectrum confirms that the myoglobin (Mb) molecule adsorbed on the surface of Fe3O4/PPy hollow particle essentially retains its native structure. Furthermore, direct electrochemistry of Mb can be realized on Fe3O4/PPy capsules modified pyrolytic graphite disk electrode, which indicates that the magnetic conductive polymer capsules can promote the electron transfer of protein.
