Effect of Sc on Al_(3)Fe phase and mechanical properties of as-cast AA5052 aluminum alloy

The AA5052 aluminum alloy is widely used in automobile and aerospace manufacturing,and with the development of light-weight alloys,it is required that these materials exhibit better mechanical properties.Previous studies have demonstrated that the addition of Sc to aluminum alloys can improve both the microstructure and properties of the alloys.In this study,the effect of Sc on the Fe-rich phase and properties of the AA5052 aluminum alloy was studied by adding 0%,0.05%,0.2%,and 0.3%Sc.The results show that with the increase of Sc,the coarse needle-like Fe-rich phase gradually transforms into Chinese-script and then nearly spherical particles,reduce the size of Fe-rich phase,and refine the grain with increase of high angle grain boundaries(HAGBs).These microstructure changes enhance the strength of the AA5052 alloy through Sc addition.The ductility of the alloy is obviously improved because the addition of a lower amount of Sc changes the morphology of Fe-rich phase from needle-like into a Chinese-script,and it is subsequently reduced as a result of significant increase in HAGBs with increasing Sc content. 展开更多

采用浸渍法、溶胶-凝胶过程与普通干燥、超临界干燥过程相结合的方法制备了三种20%的NiO-Al2O3体系催化剂,利用BET、XRD、H2-TPR、H2-TPD等方法对各催化剂样品物化性质进行了表征,并考察了催化剂在流化床反应器中CH4-CO2重整反应的催化... 采用浸渍法、溶胶-凝胶过程与普通干燥、超临界干燥过程相结合的方法制备了三种20%的NiO-Al2O3体系催化剂,利用BET、XRD、H2-TPR、H2-TPD等方法对各催化剂样品物化性质进行了表征,并考察了催化剂在流化床反应器中CH4-CO2重整反应的催化性能。研究结果表明,经923K焙烧后气凝胶催化剂中镍与载体间作用力最强,主要为固定NiO和尖晶石NiAl2O4结构,而浸渍型催化剂和干凝胶催化剂中镍与载体间作用力较弱。三种催化剂中,气凝胶催化剂具有比表面积较大、堆密度较低、Ni还原度及分散度较高的特点。它在流化床反应器中所形成的聚团流态化状态具有较高的床层膨胀率,大量多孔疏松状的纳米颗粒聚团在床内的循环运动有效地提高了传质效率,能使得生成的沉积炭快速得到气化,从而抑制了催化剂失活;对于浸渍型催化剂和干凝胶催化剂,流化床反应器中床层膨胀率较低、颗粒循环量较少、传质效率较低,易于造成催化剂表面积炭失活。经用TG和XRD等方法对反应后催化剂分析表征,证明催化剂表面石墨碳的沉积是导致浸渍型催化剂和干凝胶催化剂失活的主要原因。 展开更多

对于钴包覆陶瓷粉末热压烧结的Al2O3-TiC-Co新型复合材料力学性能和断裂行为进行了研究。结果表明,Co在基体中以金属相存在,分布于晶界的金属钴的存在能有效地改善Al2O3-TiC材料的力学性能,影响其断裂行为。

Cold-rolled Ti/Al laminated composites were annealed at 525−625℃for 0−128 h,and the interfacial microstructure evolution was investigated.The results indicate that only the TiAl_(3) phase was formed at the Ti/Al interface;most of TiAl_(3) grains were fine equiaxed with average sizes ranging from hundreds of nanometers to several microns and the TiAl_(3) grain size increased with increasing annealing time and/or temperature,but the effect of annealing temperature on the TiAl_(3) grain size was far greater than that of annealing time.The growth of the TiAl_(3) phase consisted of two stages.The initial stage was governed by chemical reaction with a reaction activation energy of 195.75 kJ/mol,and the reaction rate constant of the TiAl_(3) phase was larger as the Ti/Al interface was bonded with fresh surfaces.At the second stage,the growth was governed by diffusion,the diffusion activation energy was 33.69 kJ/mol,and the diffusion growth rate constant of the TiAl_(3) phase was mainly determined by the grain boundary diffusion owing to the smaller TiAl_(3) grain size. 展开更多

Every type of grains has its own domain and dislocation structure. There are mono- and polydomains with and without dislocations. The grains of the main phase of monoand polydomains without dislocations and polydomains with dislocations were formed by diffusion in the solid phase. In these conditions NiAl3 phase is located on the grain boundary of the main phase. The Ni2Al3 phase is located at the triple joints of the main phase. 展开更多

The propagation of the transformation into the specimen interiors was suppressed by the addition of Al2O3. The phase composition,microstructure and hardening of aluminum-based experimental alloys containing0.3%Sc,0?14%Si and0?10%Ca(mass fraction)were studied.The experimental study(electron microscopy,thermal analysis and hardnessmeasurements)was combined with Thermo-Calc software simulation for the optimization of the alloy composition.It wasdetermined that the maximum hardening corresponded to the annealing at300?350°С,which was due to the precipitation of Al3Scnanoparticles with their further coarsening.The alloys falling into the phase region(Al)+Al4Ca+Al2Si2Ca have demonstrated asignificant hardening effect.The ternary eutectic(Al)+Al4Ca+Al2Si2Ca had a much finer microstructure as compared to the Al?Sieutectic,which suggests a possibility of reaching higher mechanical properties as compared to commercial alloys of the A356type.Unlike commercial alloys of the A356type,the model alloy does not require quenching,as hardening particles are formed in thecourse of annealing of castings. 展开更多

Alumina (Al2O3) has been synthesized through combustion synthesis (CS) technique. The calcined products were characterized using X-ray diffractional analysis (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA). TG-DTA results reveal the various stages involved in transition from γ-phase to α-Al2O3 phase. The first phase γ-Al2O3 was presented in the temperature range from 600°C-875°C as deduced from the XRD patterns with cubic crystal structure. The second stage occurs in the temperature range from 900°C-1000°C. In the final step, above 1000°C, the aluminium oxide appears completely as α-Al2O3, showing high crystallinity. The particle sizes are closely related to γ- to α-Al2O3 phase transition. 展开更多

The base materials were brazed at 1 4231 573 K fo... The brazing of Al 2O 3 to Nb was achieved by the method of transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding. Ti foil and Ni 5V alloy foil were used as interlayers for the bonding. The base materials were brazed at 1 4231 573 K for 1120 min. The results show that the shear strength of the joint first increases and then decreases with increasing holding time and brazing temperature. The joint interface microstructure and elements distribution were investigated. It can be concluded that a composite structure, in which the base metals are solid solution Nb(V) and Nb(Ti) reinforced by Ni 2Ti, is formed when the brazing temperature is 1 473 K and holding time 15 min, and a satisfactory joint strength can be achieved. The interaction of Ti foil and Ni 5V foil leads to the formation of liquid eutectic phase with low melting point, at the same time the combination of Ti come from the interlayer with O atoms from Al 2O 3 results in the bonding of Al 2O 3 and Nb. 展开更多

The {0001} (1210) texture is also strengthened simultaneously. The activation process of slip systems is discussed concerning formation of the rolling texture. In this article, residual oil hydroconversion was studied in slurry phase in the presence of fine solid Ni Mo/γ-Al2O3 catalyst and the effects of operating conditions were carefully studied. The results showed that residue conversion was only affected by the reaction temperature and reaction time. The coke yield increased with a higher reaction temperature, a bigger catalyst particle size, a longer reaction time, a lower initial hydrogen pressure and a lower catalyst concentration. Heteroatoms removal rate increased with a higher reaction temperature, a longer reaction time, a higher initial hydrogen pressure, a higher catalyst concentration, and a smaller catalyst particle size. The role of catalyst in the slurry bed technology was discussed and its function could be stated as follows: the metal was applied to activate the hydrogen atoms for removing heteroatoms and saturating aromatics, while the support of the catalyst was used to prevent the mesophase coalescence for reducing coke formation. 展开更多

The effects of ternary solutes Ti, Co, V, Cr, Ta, W and Mo on the D03 phase 5tability of Fe3Alintermetallics are investigated by tight-binding linear Muffin-tin orbitaI method. The predictedsite preference5 of these elements in Fe3AI are in agreement with the experimental observations.The calculated Iocal magnetic moment of Fe3AI is identical to the experimentaI. ln addition, itis found that the D03 phase stability of Fe3AI doped with Ti, V, Co and Cr depends on 'energygap- of energy band near Fermi level. while the D03 phase stability of Fe3AI doped with Ta, Wand Mo may be affected by Madelung energy. 展开更多

In order to develop the liquid phase sintering process of WC-Ni3Al-B composites,the preparation process of WC+Ni3Al prealloyed powder by reaction synthesis of carbonyl Ni,analytical purity Al and coarse WC powders was investigated.DSC and XRD were adopted to study the procedure of phase transformation for the 3Ni+Al and 70%WC+(3Ni+Al) mixed powders in temperature ranges of 550-1200 °C and 25-1400 °C,respectively.The results demonstrate that the formation mechanism of Ni3Al depends on the reaction temperature.Besides WC phase,there exist Ni2Al3,NiAl and Ni3Al intermetallics in the powder mixture after heat treatment at 200-660 °C,while only NiAl and Ni3Al exist at 660-1100 °C.Homogeneous WC+Ni3Al powder mixture can be obtained in the temperature range of 1100-1200 °C.The WC-30%(Ni3Al-B) composites prepared from the mixed powders by conventional powder metallurgy technology show nearly full density and the shape of WC is round.WC-30%(Ni3Al-B) composites exhibit higher hardness of 9.7 GPa,inferior bending strength of 1800 MPa and similar fracture toughness of 18 MPa-m1/2 compared with commercial cemented carbides YGR45(WC-30%(Co-Ni-Cr)). 展开更多
