The aftermath of the war had devastating consequences on people’s lives and society as a whole.In addition to the significant impact of the Great Depression on social production and living standards,it resulted in psychological trauma,unemployment,poverty,and social conflicts.As a prominent English poet that emerged after World War II,Geoffrey Hill depicted the gruesome realities of war through his early works.This article applies Cathy Caruth’s trauma theory to analyze Hill’s poem“Funeral Music.”The fragmented images and repetitive traumatic scenes restore the harsh realities of war.Furthermore,this article explores Joshua Pederson’s critical development of Caruth’s theoretical framework,providing an alternate perspective for textual analysis.

Research on the Effect of Dance Therapy on Improving Social Communication Ability of Children with Autism

Research motivation:Through the 12 weeks dance therapy intervention for children with autism,the purpose is to explore the intervention model of dance therapy for children with autism and the changes in motor ability,social ability,and communication ability of children with autism after dance therapy intervention.The results of the research are expected to expand the intervention mode of dance therapy in my country and provide practical reference for rehabilitation intervention of children with autism.Research methods:24 autistic boys aged 6 to 12 with mild to moderate symptoms were recruited and screened through the Internet as the subjects of this study.We randomly divided them into experimental group(N=12)and control group(N=12).All children with autism have an autism diagnosis certificate issued by Children’s Hospital or a tertiary hospital,excluding other mental diseases(such as epilepsy,major physical disability,mental illness,no history of drugs and other interventions,etc.).We used the paired sample t-test to compare the score difference between the dance treatment group and the control group before and after the two groups,and used the observation method to record the basic communication behavior and the number of active communication behaviors in the experimental group during the intervention process.All data analysis is used in SPSS 20.0.Research results:After 12 weeks of dance therapy intervention,there were statistically significant differences in the gross movement,balance,and coordination abilities of the children in the experimental group compared with those before the intervention(p<0.01).There was no significant difference between the children in the control group(p>0.05).After 12 weeks of dance therapy intervention,there were statistically significant differences in the scores of the social response scale for children with autism in the experimental group(p<0.05).There was no significant change in the scores of each item of the SRS scale before and after intervention in the control group and the dance treatment group(p>0.05).

The Importance of Breathing Training in Folk Dance Teaching

The importance of breathing training in dance teaching is reflected in the two aspects of enhancing the quality of dance movements and sublimating the connotation of dance movements.For example,high-quality breathing can help performers complete the dance movements and improve the coordination of the movements;at the same time,the unique body rhythm formed by breathing can strengthen the visual effect of the performance and convey its spirit and soul to the audience.This requires folk dance teachers to carry out relevant training and teaching activities based on the categories and skills of dance breathing,such as changing students’ideological cognition,developing periodic breathing training courses,providing personalized guidance to students,and allowing students to adjust their learning and practice methods in the evaluation.

Acceptability and feasibility of public square dancing for community senior citizens with mild cognitive impairment and depressive symptoms:A pilot study

Objectives:To explore the acceptability and feasibility of public square dancing among community residents with mild cognitive impairment(MCI)and depressive symptoms.Methods:This mixed-method study consisted of a quantitative and a qualitative phase.From January to July 2018,a total of 241 community-dwelling senior citizens who complained of memory loss in one community in the Haidian District in Beijing were approached and screened,and 41 qualified for the study.Among them,35 senior citizens participated in the public square dancing intervention.By the end of the three-month follow-up,31 senior citizens completed the whole study.The Subjective Exercise Experience Scale(SEES)was used to survey senior citizens at the end of the three-month public square dancing intervention and follow-up to measure the participants’subjective exercise experience.Then 15 senior citizens were interviewed to collect attitudes,opinions,and suggestions related to the intervention.Results:During the intervention,90.6%of senior citizens met the requirement for defined hours.All senior citizens continued to dance at the three-month follow-up,and 32.3%met the requirement for defined hours.The scores of psychological well-being(11.03±2.82 vs.14.87±3.93,P<0.001)and fatigue(11.00[8.00,12.00]vs.14.00[9.00,18.00],P<0.001)increased at the end of the three-month follow-up.Qualitative research results extracted four major themes:increased confidence and a sense of accomplishment;easy to learn,close to real life,and sense of belonging;promotes physical and mental health;future expectations include music selection,reduced weather disruption,and self-organizing workouts.Conclusion:Public square dancing proved to be an acceptable,viable,and valuable intervention for MCI residents with depressive symptoms,which could be carried out by nursing staff in the community.Future studies should consider the appropriate population,intensity,and frequency of public square dancing and its effect on specific cognitive functions.

The Change in Funerals in the Kibbutzim From the Early 20th Century

A funeral service in Judaism has undergone many changes over the past hundred years. Changes that were greatly influenced by settlement in kibbutzim in the Land of Israel and secular development in kibbutzim. This article reviews the development of funeral practices in kibbutzim in the 20th century. Customs from different kibbutzim and sources were examined and the influence of the sources on the non-Orthodox funeral customs was presented, despite the disconnection of the first non-Orthodox funeral customs. Thus, the changes in Kaddish and the first burial practices in the kibbutzim were presented and the influence and how they changed and returned to the connection to literature of Judaism despite the clear separation that remained. In other words, the non-Orthodox funeral customs derive from Jewish culture but not from the Jewish religion

Public Square Dancing Intervention on Subjective Well-Being of Middle-Aged and Elderly People:A Meta-Analysis

Objective:To understand the influence of public square dancing on the subjective well-being of middle-aged and elderly people.Methods:According to the principle of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA)guidelines,we search Chinese databases,such as CNKI,Wanfang Data,and VIP,and English databases,such as Proquest,Web of Science,Pubmed,Cochrane,and ScienceDirect,and collect relevant articles at home and abroad from 2006 to December 2019 for meta-analysis in January 2020.Result:A total of 10 articles were included.The meta-analysis results showed that the well-being of middle-aged and elderly people in the public square dancing intervention group was significantly higher than that of the other exercise group and control group(both P<0.01).The results of the subgroup analysis showed the following:Different durations of intervention significantly influence the intervention effect(P<0.01).No difference was found between the effect of the mixed-gender intervention and the individual female intervention(P>0.05).No significant difference was found between the groups with weekly intervention frequency(P>0.05).Conclusion:Public square dancing intervention is effective for middle-aged and elderly people’s subjective well-being.Neither mixed intervention nor the times of weekly intervention have an impact on the intervention effect.However,the length of duration of intervention influences the intervention effect.

Cultural Practice in Cote d'Ivoire: An Ethnography of the Feminization of Funeral Expenses

The“Letagonins”:a concept socially constructed to designate the“beating”women of Ivorian society,evokes those who have as their leitmotif,a self-realization through work.The purpose lies in their ability to free themselves from male domination.This concept means in one of the local Ivorian languages,notably the Gouro1:female boy.These women of Gouro ethnicity show a deep passion for the marketing of food products in Abidjan.However,behind this passion for food is their commitment to funeral expenses;a cultural activity customary lying with agnatic parentage.The transgression of custom by the latter under the prism of their social repositioning is the symbolic manifestation of the destandardization of the traditional relationship between man and woman in the organization of funerals in Gouro country,in the central West Ivorian.Understanding this relational reconfiguration has fuelled our passion as a researcher.In fact,ethnography has been mobilized as a method of observing the funeral practices of these women.In this regard,the study traces the strategies for negotiating access to the land as well as those used to negotiate access to information.

Ostentatious Funeral Expenses and Identity Reconstruction Among the Gouro Women of Gohitafla(Ivory Coast)

Although the Gouro women producing foodstuffs in the department of Gohitafla claim to be in a double dynamics of precariousness and social weakening,they incur ostentatious expenses during funeral ceremonies.To understand this paradox,this text,based on interviews and participating observation,makes a detailed description of the financial involvement of these women in funeral practices in order to reveal its meaning.The results show that the ostentatious nature of female funeral expenses related to the transfer of the body,compensation and honorary practices are strategies for identity reconstruction and negotiation of political citizenship for those women.
