Nevertheless, the language and space of online jobadvertisement are uneven, which may affect the companies to attract and communicate with the potential candidates. Based on thetheoretical framework of moves and steps analysis suggested by Swales(1990) and Bhatia(2004), the study aims to explore thestructural pattern of this genre and to examine the lexico-grammatical features of each move and step. After analyzing four piecesof job advertisements retrieved from different recruiting websites, the study reveals that there are six moves in the whole structureof online job advertisement, among these, three moves are obligatory, named: establishing credential, introducing the position, to-gether with specifying required qualifications, skills, and experiences. Meanwhile, in each move, the positive adjectives, verbs, andfirst person are frequently used to serve the promotional function, and therefore to intensify the communicative purpose. The studymay contribute to the application of genre analysis in business English teaching, and also be instructive to the reading and writingof online job advertisement.展开更多

In this model, time is discrete. Packets arrive over time; each packet has a non-negative value and an integer deadline. In each time step, at most one packet can be sent. The ratio of successfully delivering a packet depends on the channel's quality of reliability. The objective is to maximize the total value gained by delivering packets no later than their respective deadlines. In this paper, we conduct theoretical and empirical studies of online learning approaches for this model and a few of its variants. These online learning algorithms are analyzed in terms of external regret. We conclude that no online learning algorithms have constant regrets. Our online learning algorithms outperform online competitive algorithms in terms of algorithmic simplicity and running complexity. In general, these online learning algorithms work no worse than the best known competitive online algorithm for maximizing weighted throughput in practice.展开更多

Similarly, when the goal is multi-complex and performance time constraint, the deployment of specific strategies maybe the best approach developed. In effect of the above, this investigation takes a socio-psychological and organizational perspective in setting information systems (IS) security goals. In doing so, three important issues of goal setting are identified, these are: trust, culture and risk communication. Since system security breaches are still on the rise, the performance of managing such online risks is not the one expected. The framework suggested in this paper aims to contribute to socio-psychological and organizational values by enhancing the performance of the IS risk management process with a focus on security risks.展开更多

This study concentrates on the faculty perceptions of how the usage of e-mail and cell phones has changed interactions with students over the past decade. General levels of usage are analyzed as well as correlation to curricular disciplines, An online survey of faculty members at Indiana University of Pennsylvania found maior changes in the type and frequency of contact between professors and students as well as a shift from personal contact to e-mail and telephone usage. The expanded level of communication opportunities has placed faculty in the position of having to extend direct student-oriented time outside of the classroom, while continuing to maintain academic scholarship and other professional responsibilities.展开更多

Method: A literature survey was carried out to get an insight in possible consequences by summarizing the state of knowledge on how men with prostate cancer undergoing prostatec-tomy surgery experience their contacts with the healthcare professionals. Results: A consequence is that often men with prostate cancer, treated with prostatectomy surgery, do not receive the individualized support, infor-mation, and dialogue they need, which leads to feelings of uncertainty, insecurity, and loss of control. The men use the Internet in their search for information and support, which makes them able to stay in control and be active, responsible partners in their own course of treatment. Conclusion: For men to feel secure and certain the accessibility of the healthcare professionals and the healthcare professionals’ ability to individualize information and support are important aspects. Practice Implications: It is relevant to provide male cancer patients with tools that can underpin their contact to the healthcare professionals. Utilizing Web 2.0 technologies, Internet based tools can support exchange-ability, towards dialogue-based contacts, between men with prostate cancer and healthcare professionals.展开更多
