Ecological Geochemistry of Selenium in the Production Base of Zhangqiu Green Chinese Onion

Based on the achievement of local ecological geochemical survey,the selenium in surface layer soil of Zhangqiu green Chinese onion within production area is systematically studied in this study.And the ecological geochemical characters of selenium both in surface layer soil and in green Chinese onions are analyzed,and the relationship between the selenium in plant and soil is discussed.The results show that soil in Zhangqiu is rich in selenium,and it is suitable to develop the selenium-rich green Chinese onion products.

Factors Influencing Students＇ WTC in a Chinese EFL Classroom： From the Ecological Perspective

Given the dynamic traits of willingness to communicate or WTC and focusing on L2 learners' individual elements from the ecological perspective, this article involves an analysis of the variables impacting students' WTC in a Chinese EFL classroom to help promote their WTC and provide some insights for English instructors to optimize their English language teaching.

Chinese yam(Dioscorea opposita Thunb.) Notillage Ecological Cultivation Technique

For traditional cultivation of Chinese yam, it is necessary to dig a deep trench duringsowing and harvest, wasting labor and time, and Chinese yam requires good quality of cultivated land, causing serious impact on the development of yam industry due to the competition with food production. Yam no-tillage ecological cul- ture techniques, combined with advantage of yam directional tuberization, could en- able the cultivation of yam inlow-production field, barren hills and sloping field, forest land and other non-staple food land and thus could promote farmers＇ income as well as improving the ecological environment.

Networking Observation and Applications of Chinese Ocean Satellites

This paper presents the networking observation capabilities of Chinese ocean satellites and their diverse applications in ocean disaster prevention,ecological monitoring,and resource development.Since the inaugural launch in 2002,China has achieved substantial advancements in ocean satellite technology,forming an observation system composed of the HY-1,HY-2,and HY-3 series satellites.These satellites are integral to global ocean environmental monitoring due to their high resolution,extensive coverage,and frequent observations.Looking forward,China aims to further enhance and expand its ocean satellite capabilities through ongoing projects to support global environmental protection and sustainable development.

Measurement and influencing factors of urban traffic ecological resilience in developing countries: A case study of 31 Chinese cities

An urban traffic ecosystem is a spatial structure composed of air,population,vehicles,roads,green spaces,and regions.Traffic ecological resilience is a critical issue in high-quality urban development.From the perspective of system optimization,it is important to study the level of urban traffic ecological resilience and analyze its influencing factors.In this study,we evaluated traffic ecological resilience,characterized its spatio-temporal differentiation,and explored its influencing factors by constructing a system of urban traffic ecological resilience and by analyzing the environmental protection and urban construction data in 31 Chinese cities during 2011-2018.By conducting Kernel density analysis,standard deviation ellipse,comprehensive weight determination,panel data regression analysis,andχ2test,we found that traffic ecological resilience was low on the whole and exhibited the temporal trend of“decreasing first and then increasing”and the spatial characteristic of“high in the east,second in the middle,and low in the west”.The cities with high traffic ecological resilience density values were located in Southeast China and tended to move from northwest to southeast.Governance capability,market activity,technological innovation capability,opening degree,and financial resources had significant effects on urban traffic ecological resilience.Finally,we gave some suggestions for improving the urban traffic ecological resilience in Chinese cities as well as other developing countries in the world.

Chinese Solution for the Construction of An Ecological Civilization and Its World Significance

For the construction of an ecological civilization, the socialist system with Chinese characteristics provides a reliable institutional guarantee, its theory of an ecological civilization offers ideological guidance, and the dominant role of governments furnishes a powerful driver. A top-level design for the construction of an ecological civilization, a holistic approach to socioeconomic development and the construction of an ecological civilization, the establishment and constant improvement of institutional mechanisms, and the deep combination of poverty alleviation and ecological governance provide both Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions for the problem of the ecological environment. Environmental protection in China certainly has a long way to go, and the Chinese solution for the construction of an ecological civilization still needs to be constantly improved in practice.

An Investigation on Cross-cultural Communication between ForeignTeachers and Chinese Students in College EFL Classes

Nowadays,more and more foreign teachers have come to or been invited to China,joining in the English education cause,especially in colleges and universities.Using the methods of questionnaires and interviews,this paper conducts a survey of three foreign teachers and one hundred Chinese English majors at Qufu Normal University,aiming to explore their different perceptions and attitudes towards varied aspects of cross-cultural communication in native EFL classes.The quantitative and qualitative data obtained from the survey were both processed and analyzed from such categories as "teaching contents","teaching attitude","teaching methods","classroom interaction" and "cultural background".The findings suggested that intercultural communication plays a significant role in the process of English language teaching and learning at college native EFL classes.

Study on the Status Quo of Chinese Cultural Aphasia from the Perspective of Cultural Ecology

To some extent,the phenomenon of"Chinese Cultural Aphasia"is caused by the imbalance of ecological environment of culture in college English teaching.Through questionnaire survey and later interview,this paper further analyzes the status quo of this phenomenon.In order to change the current situation,this paper,from the perspective of cultural ecology,puts forward the countermeasures to solve this problem to vigorously promote our country’s"Culture Exporting"strategy.

Progress of Chinese zooplankton ecology research in Prydz Bay, Antarctica

Zooplankton are considered an important trophic link between primary producers and higher trophic level species in the Southern Ocean ecosystem. Since 1989, when the Chinese Antarctic Zhongshan Station was built, zooplankton have regularly been sampled and investigated in Prydz Bay through oceanographic surveys of each Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition. This review summarizes the main results from zooplankton ecology studies conducted in Prydz Bay by Chinese researchers. Major topics covered in this review are： （1） a description of the biology and ecology of Antarctic krill （Euphausia superba）, the key zooplankton species of the Southern Ocean ecosystem; （2） zooplankton community structure, including the horizontal distribution in the epipelagic region and vertical distribution between 0-1500 m; （3） feeding ecology of dominant species such as Antarctic krill, salps and copepods; （4） a short introduction to the molecular research; and （5） prospects for future research.

Pollen Production in Relation to Ecological Class of Some Hydrophytes and Marsh Plants

The knowledge of quantitative production and method of dispersal give some idea about the frequency of presence of particular plant pollen grains in the atmosphere or hydrosphere. Pollen production in terms of number per anther along with the particular anther number per flower, anther length, pollen grain size, mode of anther dehiscence was determined for 51 angiospermous hydrophytes and marsh species occurring in Tripura, India. Pollen production is species specific. The level of pollen production directly related to the anther size and anther number per flower. However, no such correlation could be drawn between pollen production and size of pollen grains. Most of the hydrophytic taxa of the present investigation are anemophilous. The anemophilous taxa are characterized by high pollen production. However no correlation could be drawn from the present study between the high pollen production and mode of anther dehiscence as in all the studied taxa they show only one kind of anther dehiscence.

RFLP OF HLA CLASS I GENES IN CHINESE POPULATION AND ITS CORRELATION WITH SEROLOGICALLY DEFINED ANTIGEN SPECIFICITIES

The restriction fragnent length polymorphisms （RFLPs） of HLA class I genes in 104 unrelated healthy Chinese individuals were analyzed with Southern blot assay. The DNAs from peripheral blood leucocytes were digested with EcoRI, EcoRV and XbaI respectively, and hybridized with 32P-labeled HLA class I probe （ 1.4Kb, B7 cDNA ）. The results showed that 3 EcoRI fragments （13.7, 8.1 and 5.2 Kb ）, 3 EcoR V fragments （11.3, 7.8 and 4.1 Kb） and 7 Xbal fragmnents （21.9, 19.2, 16.3, 6.0, 3.8, 1.8 and 1.5 Kb） were polymorphic. Ten of the fragments were found to be correlated significantly with the serologically de fined antigen specificities. The significance of this kind of correlation is discussed.

Genetic variants of the class A scavenger receptor gene are associated with coronary artery disease in Chinese

The class A scavenger receptor, encoded by the macrophage scavenger receptor 1 （MSR1） gene, is a pattern recognition receptor （PPR） primarily expressed in macrophages. It has been reported that genetic polymorphisms of MSR1 are significantly associated with the number of diseased vessels and coronary artery narrowing greater than 20% in Caucasians. However, whether it links genetically to coronary artery disease （CAD） in Chinese is not defined. Here, we performed an independent case-control study in a Chinese population consisting of 402 CAD cases and 400 controls by genotyping ten single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） of MSR1. We found that rs416748 and rs13306541 were significantly associated with an increased risk of CAD with per allele odds ratio （OR） of 1.56 [95% confidence interval （CI） = 1.28-1.90; P 〈 0.001] and 1.70 （95% CI = 1.27-2.27; P 〈 0.001）, re- spectively. Our results indicate that genetic variants of MSR1 may serve as predictive markers for the risk of CAD / in combination with traditional risk factors of CAD in Chinese population.

Understanding the PAD-Based Class Acceptance among Modern Chinese College Students’English Learning

This paper gives an understanding of PAD-based class acceptance among modern Chinese college students’English learning.It first introduces the brief definition of what the PAD-based class is,as well as the situation of English language learning in present China,especially the learning amongst Chinese college students.And then it focuses on the acceptance of the PADbased class in the English learning of Chinese college students,including the breakthrough of the traditional Chinese classroom teaching mode and the innovation of the PAD-based class among Chinese college students’English learning.

A Review of the Ecology and Biology of Chinese Pangolin(Manis pentadactyla)

Chinese pangolin(Manis pentadactyla) has important value in Chinese medicine,economy and ecology.At present,Chinese pangolin is about to go extinct due to over hunting and habitat destruction,which has caused a dramatic decline in the wild population.Breeding Chinese pangolin in captivity is very difficult and has not succeeded yet.This paper is to review the wild population,habitat,foraging,activity rhythm,breeding and physiology of Chinese pangolin.It provides theoretical basis of ecology and biology for the protection and artificial domestication of Chinese pangolin.Meanwhile,given the demands of protection,future research directions are suggested.

The Consumption Practices and Identity Formation of the Chinese Middle Class in the Media Era

During the past 40 years following the reform and opening-up policy of 1978,China’s social structure has seen great changes,which include the birth and rapid development of the Chinese middle class as a derivative and consequence of modernization.They are the main source of consumption in contemporary China and display unique characteristics in their consumption practices.Consumption is not only a daily practice,but also a means of demonstrating and forming identity.In this media era,media play an important role in people’s consumption practices and identity formation.In this study,semi-structured interviews were carried out with members of the Chinese middle class to study the relationship between consumption,identity,and media through their oral accounts.Moreover,problems,including the characteristics of middle-class consumption practices and how they use consumption to form identity,were analyzed.This study not only complements studies on the sociology of consumption of the Chinese middle class,but also is of great practical significance for deepening our understanding of the behavioral and ideological characteristics of the Chinese middle class.

Students' In-group Interaction in Chinese ESL Class

The traditional teacher-centered ESL class has been prevalent in China for years. Under this circumstance, teachers tend to adopt a spoon-fed teaching method, and become the dominator in ESL class by setting the same instructional pace, explaining a grammar point, leading drill work; while the students' in-class participation is relatively low. As a result, students with different learning styles often feel suffocated in this teacher-dominated class; they desire to have more opportunities to participate in the free interactions or group discussions.Based on the theoretical framework of interactive teaching approach suggested by Lightbown and Spada(1993),the research aims to analyze the merits of students' in-group interaction and to examine the feasibility of implementing it in Chinese ESL class. The research reveals that in-group interaction can cultivate students' independent learning habits by granting them autonomy to bring about the problem and tackle them. Nonetheless, different perceptions from several students and teachers upon group work may influence the usefulness. The research strives to be instructive for the more efficient application of in-group interaction in Chinese ESL class.
