The case study describes longwall coal seam A in a hard coal mine,where longwall coal face stability loss and periodic roof fall occurrences had been registered.The authors have attempted to explain the situation based on in-situ measurements and observations of the longwall working as well as numerical simulation.The calculations included several parameters,such as powered roof support geometry in the form of the canopy ratio,which is a factor that influences load distribution along the canopy.Numerical simulations were realized based on a rock mass model representing realistic mining and geological conditions at a depth of 600 m below surface for coal seam A.Numerical model assumptions are described,while the obtained results were compared with the in-situ measurements.The conclusions drawn from this work can complement engineering knowledge utilized at the stage of powered roof support construction and selection in order to improve both personnel safety and longwall working stability,and to achieve better extraction. 展开更多

In order to know the longest permissible thermal exposure time during which the cold worked (CW) microstructure would remain unchanged, the effect of the thermal exposure at temperatures ranging from 910?℃ to 1?070?℃ on the microstructure was investigated for MP159 alloy by optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Such a study can provide guidance for determining reasonable hot forging parameters of fasteners. The results indicate that the intersecting network of fine platelets in CW microstructure are thermal stable when thermal exposure temperature does not exceed 920?℃. When thermal exposure temperature exceed 920?℃, the intersecting network of fine platelets will dissolve, but the thermal exposure temperature has the longest permissible thermal exposure time during which the intersecting network of fine platelets will not dissolve. 展开更多

The work function of the (110) surface slowly decreases but that of the (100) surface remains at a relatively constant value. To determine the reason for this difference, the electron density distribution (EDD) is determined from high-pressure single-crystal x-ray diffraction data by the maximum entropy method. The EDD results show that the chemical bond properties in LaB6 play a key role also investigated by single-crystal x-ray diffraction. In observed from ambient pressure to 39.1 GPa. In order to occupy less or no farmland, many mining areas are constructing or intend to erect new buildings (structures) on the ground sites above the worked-out areas. The long-term safety of the new buildings is of great importance. This matter should be, therefore, handled with great care. Following an analysis of the different conditions of the worked-out areas, and the characteristics of the failure of different types of worked-out areas and their overlying strata, the cause for the occurrence of residual deformation of the surface above the worked-out area was explained. The techniques for (evaluating) the stability of ground site for erecting new buildings above worked-out area, and the technical measures for protecting such buildings were proposed. The changing criterion of the vertical displacement was established and the relationship between the deflection and the rotary motion of roof block was determined. Regarding a mining face in Shangwan Mine, the responsing laws of the deflection and horizontal thrust of the roof rock beam were obtained through FLAC3D numerical analysis. The results show that the structure instability of the cracked roof rock beam depends on the interaction between the vertical load and the horizontal thrust.For the roof rock beam, when the vertical load keeps constant, the horizontal thrust fluctuating rises with increasing deflection. The horizontal thrust increases constantly with the deeper buried depth and the smaller span. 展开更多

In the process of tunneling of tunnel boring machine (TBM), different geological conditions often correspond to different working conditions, and the randomness of geological conditions also causes the order of occurrence of each working condition to be different. Under the conversion of different working conditions, this makes the vibration of different types of cutterheads different. How to choose the appropriate type of cutterhead according to different geological conditions is very important for saving engineering cost and increasing cutterhead life. In view of the above situation, this paper proposes a stability evaluation method during the TBM tunneling process to select the appropriate cutterhead type. Firstly, the corresponding relationship between geology and working conditions is established according to different geological conditions, and the input loads corresponding to geological conditions are obtained. Then, it is substituted into the dynamic model of the cutterhead system, the vibration response boundaries of each degree of freedom are obtained by solving. And the average value of the maximum boundary amplitude of each degree of freedom is taken to represent the extreme vibration of the cutterhead under the corresponding working conditions. Finally, by comparing the fluctuation of the ultimate vibration amplitude of each type of cutterhead in the process of working condition conversion, the results are as follows: when the transition between homogeneous strata and composite strata is normal and there is no large turning and deviation correction, the vibration response of the two-part cutterhead is the smallest, and the two-part cutterhead is the best choice. Otherwise, the five-part cutterhead is the best choice, while the stability of the integrated cutterhead is the worst. 展开更多

The influence of hot working on the microstructures of TC11/Ti2 Al Nb dual-alloy joints welded by electron beam welding(EBW) process was investigated. The tensile tests were performed at room temperature for specimens before and after thermal exposure. The results show that the fusion zone of TC11/Ti2 Al Nb dual-alloy joint welded by EBW is mainly composed of β phase. After deformation and heat treatment, the grain boundaries of the as-cast alloy are broken and the fusion zone mainly consists of β, α2and α phases. The fusion zone performs poor property in the tensile test. Specimens before and after thermal exposure all fail in this area under different deformation conditions. The ultimate tensile strength of specimens after heat treatment is up to 1190 MPa at room temperature. The joints by water quenching after deformation have better plasticity with an elongation up to 4.4%. After thermal exposure at 500 °C for 100 h, the tensile strength of the specimen slightly rises while the ductility changes a little. SEM observation shows that the fracture mechanism is predominantly transgranular under different deformation conditions. 展开更多
