“玫瑰”还是“蔷薇”——The Nightingale and the Rose译名研究

奥斯卡·王尔德的经典童话The Nightingale and the Rose中对rose翻译常摇摆于"玫瑰"或者"蔷薇"之间。英语中rose泛指蔷薇属的植物,包括玫瑰、蔷薇和月季花。经多方资料的考证,The Nightingale and the Rose中的rose应该是月季花。而长久的文学翻译实践中,rose通常直接译作"玫瑰",使得玫瑰作为爱情的象征不可替代。综合权衡,这处译名"玫瑰"最为合适。

基于ROSE2.0的普洱地区CINRAD/CC雷达冰雹探测算法评估及参数本地化

为提高冰雹探测算法(Hail Detection Algorithm, HDA)产品的可用性,针对2015—2020年普洱地区监测到的22次冰雹个例,利用新一代雷达业务应用软件ROSE2.0对相关雷达基数据进行回放及产品分析,以命中率、虚警率、临界成功指数为指标对HDA算法在普洱地区的识别效果进行评估并给出本地化参数配置方案。结果表明:HDA算法在普洱地区命中率接近100%,但虚警现象非常普遍,使用强冰雹概率(Probability of Severe Hail, POSH)的预警效果优于任意大小冰雹概率(Probability of Hail, POH),且冰雹尺寸越大POSH虚警的概率越低。进一步使用模拟测评法对POSH算法的适配参数进行分析,发现正确输入降雹日当天的0℃层和-20℃层高度能有效减少POSH的虚警率及提高临界成功指数;同时使算法预测的最大冰雹直径普遍偏大的情况得到控制,其中,中小冰雹直径偏离百分比减小76.07%,改善效果显著高于大冰雹。此外,增大反射率因子及POSH阈值能有效控制虚警,但也导致漏报次数快速增加,当阈值太大时命中率明显降低,为了保证较高的命中率和临界成功指数,选择Z=50 dBz或POSH=70%为阈值能明显改善HDA算法的识别效果。

The Issue of “Art for Art's Sake” in The Nightingale and the Rose

Effect of Modified Biochar with Organic Fertiliser on the Growth and Development of Chinese Rose

In order to reduce the waste of resources and environmental pollution caused by excessive application of chemical fertilizers, improve the utilization rate of fertilizers, and promote the large-scale and high-quality development of the Chinese rose industry. In this experiment, corn stover biochar, phosphoric acid modified biochar and organic fertilizer were used as test materials, and the effects of mixed application of modified biochar and organic fertilizer on the growth and development of Chinese rose as well as soil physicochemical properties were investigated by using the method of pot planting test. The results showed that modified biochar with organic fertilizer had the most significant effect on the enhancement of soil pH, organic matter content and soil carbon-to-nitrogen ratio. After 120 d of planting, modified biochar with organic fertilizer had the most significant effect on the enhancement of plant height and crown width of Chinese rose;both organic fertilizer and modified biochar with organic fertilizer significantly increased the chlorophyll content of Chinese rose. The number of flowers and the number of branches were the highest in the modified biochar with organic fertilizer treatment. In conclusion, the application of modified biochar with organic fertilizer can better improve the soil pH, and increase the soil organic matter content and carbon-to-nitrogen ratio to change the biological traits of Chinese rose. The results of this study provide a theoretical basis for the reduction of chemical fertilizers and the resource utilization of agricultural wastes and guarantee the sustainable development of the cut flower industry.

A Comparative Study on the Two Chinese Versions of the Nightingale and the Rose: From the Perspective of Functional Equivalence

This study explores the realization of functional equivalence through a comparative analysis of Ba Jin's and Lin Huiyin's Chinese versions of The Nightingale and the Rose at the levels of meaning,style and culture.Ba's version achieves the highest functional equivalence,especially at the level of style.By contrast,with strong personal style and characteristics of the Republicanperiod,Lin's version is difficult for the children to read and comprehend.Besides,for both translators fail to understand the original texts completely,their versions mislead the readers as to meanings and cultural interpretations.

An Analysis of A Rose for Emily from the Perspective of Spatial Narrative

The novel A Rose for Emily is one of the early works of William Faulkner,a famous American southern writer who has won The Nobel Prize in Literature in 1950.Spatial narrative theory analyzes and summarizes the spatial characteristics of modern and postmodern novels,showing the narrative characteristics of the works that the time is disrupted and suspended,and the space is extended indefinitely.This paper intends to interpret A Rose for Emily from the perspective of spatial narrative theory,and analyze the geological space,social space and text space in the novel,so as to reveal the important role of spatial structure in creating atmosphere and promoting narrative process,in order to better grasp the spatial metaphors in Faulkner’s novels.

The historical evolution of the regulations for the Florence Nightingale Medal

Objective: This study aimed to explore the 100-year changes in regulations for the Florence Nightingale Medal.Methods: We used the announcements of the Florence Nightingale Medal awards as the research object to analyze-via historical and inductive methods-the regulations for receiving the Florence Nightingale Medal.Results: In the award years, the greatest number of winners per award year was 71 and the lowest was 12. The medal was initially exclusively awarded to living people but evolved to include both living and deceased people. The recipients were balanced among all countries. The gender of the winners showed a changing trend from being limited to only females to including both males and females.There was also a shift from emphasis on only dedication of the recipient to equal emphasis on both dedication and innovation.Conclusions: The selection criteria for recipients of the Florence Nightingale Medal evolved from consideration of those showing only dedication to equal consideration of both dedication and innovation.

ROSE2.0定量降水估测产品在广东地区的适用性检验

为进一步提升ROSE2.0定量降水估测产品的释用范围,以及短时强降水短时预报和预警能力,基于广东地区较长时间序列(2022年6月至2023年1月)定量降水估测产品,分不同的距离和降水强度阈值评估了不同情形下定量估测降水产品的精度。结果表明:对于所有量级所有距离的1 h定量估测产品(OHP),在距离雷达站点25至100 km范围内,平均偏差比、归一化平均误差两个指标表现最优;其次,双偏振定量降水估测算法在一般性降水(0.1~19.9 mm/h)中,准确率较原单偏振算法低;但对于20 mm/h以上强降水和100至150 km范围内10~19.9 mm/h的一般性降水准确率有较显著提升。

都匀雷达ROSE2.0一次强对流天气过程应用检验

针对黔南州2022年4月24日午后到夜间的一次强对流天气过程,利用实况资料和都匀雷达ROSE2.0在短时强降水、冰雹、雷暴大风方面的监测和预警产品进行对比检验,结合本地短时临近预报业务应用效果分析,发现:受地形影响,都匀雷达ROSE2.0估计降水在大雨以下量级表现较好,但对暴雨以上量级估计值偏小,没有明显短时强降水报警体现,本地化应用门限值设置降低约3成左右更为合理;都匀雷达ROSE2.0对冰雹预警落区指示和命中率较高,但时间提前量平均仅9 min,对雷暴大风预警仍然有难度,剖面图分析能更好地识别雷暴大风指标。另外,雷达ROSE2.0软件强天气预警算法得到进一步优化,应融入一体化平台等快速支撑预警业务应用。

Physiological Dynamics and Transcriptomic Analysis of Cut Roses‘Carola’Treated with KNO_(3)

The consumption of cut roses(Rosa hybrida)has always ranked first in the world.However,it is vulnerable to rapid petal and leaf wilting due to leaf stomatal water loss,which seriously affects its ornamental quality and economic value.Stomatal movement,a key in plant physiological processes,is influenced by potassium and nitrate.Advancing comprehension of its physiological and molecular mechanism holds promise for preserving the freshness of cut roses.This study observed the impacts of different concentrations of KNO_(3) vase treatments on stomatal opening and water loss in cut rose‘Carola’leaves,as well as their transcriptional responses to KNO_(3).Water loss rates were influenced by KNO_(3) concentrations,with the 25 and 75 mmol/L treatments exhibiting the highest water loss rates.The stomatal aperture reached its widest value when treated with 75 mmol/L KNO_(3).Transcriptional sequencing analysis was performed to identify differentially expressed genes(DEGs)of which 5456 were up-regulated,and 6607 were down-regulated associated with photosynthesis,starch and sucrose metabolism,metabolic pathways,plant-pathogen interaction,plant hormone signal transduction,and related pathways.246 DEGs were selected related to response to KNO_(3) treatment,of which gene ontology(GO)enrichment were nitrate and terpenoid metabolism,ion transport,and response to stimuli.Further heatmap analysis revealed that several genes related to nitrate transport a metabolism,K+transport,vacuoles,and aquaporin were in close association with the response to KNO_(3) treatment.Weighted gene co-expression network analysis(WGCNA)revealed that hub genes,including LAX2,TSJT1,and SCPL34 were identified in turquoise,black,and darkgreen module.Transcription factors such as NAC021,CDF3,ERF053,ETR2,and ARF6 exhibited regulatory roles in the response to KNO_(3) treatment under light conditions.These findings provide valuable insights into the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying the response of cut rose leaves to KNO_(3) treatment.

基于否定分析理论对A Rose for Emily文本变形倾向的分析

本文基于贝尔曼的“否定分析”理论,对福克纳短篇小说A Rose for Emily杨岂深汉译本进行分析,试图验证分析其中的文本变形倾向,从而对小说翻译的实践起到一定的促进作用。经过研究发现:杨岂深先生版本的译文中理性化、高贵化的倾向较多,兼有对原文节奏的破坏以及原文意指体系的破坏等变形倾向,因而导致原文口语化的叙事风格总体偏向较为正式且古雅的风格,尤其是译文中大量四字成语以及书面语的使用。同时,从文中部分词汇的翻译也可看出译者在进行翻译时采取了贴近译入语语言文化习惯的翻译方式,验证了翻译过程中文本变形倾向的存在。但从某种程度上来看,这种翻译的方式一定程度上与原文的语言风格有所差异,原文中的异质性则被过滤了。

A Narratological Study of William Faulkner’s“A Rose for Emily”

William Faulkner(1897-1962)is usually regarded as one of the most important American novelist s of the 20th century,who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1949.“A Rose for Emily”is one of Faulkner’s famous short stories which applies the conventions of Gothic fiction,and it has drawn the the attention of a large number of scholars and inspired their enthusiasm of interpretation owing to its use of many experimental techniques.This article attempts to analyze the narrative techniques of“A Rose for Emily”in terms of tense,mood and voice,three concepts introduced by Gerald Genette,a distinguished French critic of structuralist narratology in his Narrative Discourse(1980).

Giorgio Vasari’s Tondo for the Madonna of the Rosary: Angels With Roses, Emblems of Love

In 1569,Giorgio Vasari(1511-1574)completed painting an altarpiece of the Madonna of the Rosary and a Tondo of angels dispersing roses.The commission was for the private chapel of the Capponi family in the church of Santa Maria Novella in Florence.In his Ricordanze(Book of Records),Vasari explained the commission as well as documenting the assistance of his favorite Florentine pupil,Jacopo Zucchi(1541-1590),in the completion of the commission.This essay focusses on Vasari’s design,location,and meaning of the Tondo and its emblematic symbolism of love through the rose motif.

ROSE2.0在黔西南4·14强对流天气中的应用分析

受高空槽、切变线、静止锋、弱冷空气、西南急流、地面辐合线影响,2022年4月14日黔西南州出现大范围强对流天气。该文对此次过程中ROSE2.0应用进行检验分析,得出以下结论:(1)过程第1阶段对流强度偏弱;第2阶段超级单体或强多单体风暴发展和成熟,对流以大冰雹、8级雷暴大风、40 mm以下短时强降水为主;第3阶段列车效应最明显,风暴移速较快,对流以8~11级雷暴大风、中冰雹、40~60 mm短时强降水为主。(2)ROSE2.0与本地雷达软件相比,大冰雹时CR基本一致,但VIL、HI偏小,ET偏大;ROSE2.0与实际理论值相比,VIL值明显偏低,ET、HI偏大;雷暴大风时低层径向速度ROSE2.0比本地的要小,但中高层偏大;短时强降水时,ROSE2.0小时雨强估计值比实际值偏小。
