Offshore wind farms are becoming increasingly distant from onshore centralized control centers,and the communication delays between them inevitably introduce time delays in the measurement signal of the primary frequency control.This causes a deterioration in the performance of the primary frequency control and,in some cases,may even result in frequency instability within the power system.Therefore,a frequency response model that incorporates communication delays was established for power systems that integrate offshore wind power.The Padéapproximation was used to model the time delays,and a linearized frequency response model of the power system was derived to investigate the frequency stability under different time delays.The influences of the wind power proportion and frequency control parameters on the system frequency stability were explored.In addition,a Smith delay compensation control strategy was devised to mitigate the effects of communication delays on the system frequency dynamics.Finally,a power system incorporating offshore wind power was constructed using the MATLAB/Simulink platform.The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed delay compensation control strategy. 展开更多

An alternating current(AC)microgrid is a system that integrates renewable power,power converters,controllers and loads.Hierarchical control can manage the frequency of the microgrid to prevent imbalance and collapse of the system.The existing frequency control methods use traditional proportion integration(PI)controllers,which cannot adjust PI parameters in real-time to respond to the status changes of the system.Hierarchical control driven by fuzzy logic allows real-time adjustment of the PI parameters and the method used a two-layer control structure.The primary control used droop control to adjust power distribution,and fuzzy logic was used in the voltage loop of the primary control.The secondary control was added to make up for frequency deviation caused by droop control,and fuzzy logic was used in the secondary frequency control to deal with the dynamic change of frequency caused by the disturbances of loads.The proposed method was simulated in Matlab/Simulink.In the primary control,the proposed method reduced the total harmonic distortion(THD)of two cycles of the output voltage from 4.19%to 3.89%;in the secondary control,the proposed method reduced the frequency fluctuation of the system by about 0.03 Hz and 0.04 Hz when the load was increased and decreased,respectively.The results show that the proposed methods have a better effect on frequency maintenance and voltage control of the AC microgrid. 展开更多

Gas turbines play core roles in clean energy supply and the construction of comprehensive energy systems.The control performance of primary frequency modulation of gas turbines has a great impact on the frequency control of the power grid.However,there are some control difficulties in the primary frequency modulation control of gas turbines,such as the coupling effect of the fuel control loop and speed control loop,slow tracking speed,and so on.To relieve the abovementioned difficulties,a control strategy based on the desired dynamic equation proportional integral(DDE-PI)is proposed in this paper.Based on the parameter stability region,a parameter tuning procedure is summarized.Simulation is carried out to address the ease of use and simplicity of the proposed tuning method.Finally,DDE-PI is applied to the primary frequency modulation system of an MS6001B heavy-duty gas turbine.The simulation results indicate that the gas turbine with the proposed strategy can obtain the best control performance with a strong ability to deal with system uncertainties.The proposed method shows good engineering application potential. 展开更多

Battery hybridization in hydropower plants is a hydropower flexibility enhancement technology innovation that can potentially expand hydropower’s contributions to the grid,but its fundamental characteristics and influencing mechanisms are still unclear.In this paper,primary frequency regulation(PFR)performance and the mechanism of this new technology are studied.A battery hybridized hydropower plant(BH-HPP)model,based on a field-measured-data-based hydropower plant(HPP)model and a verified battery simplified model,is established.Analysis of system stability and dynamics is undertaken for three different battery control strategies by root locus and participation factor methods.Compared to conventional HPPs,analysis results theoretically reveal BH-HPP can not only accelerate system regulation rapidity but also effectively enlarge HPP stability region during PFR process.Time domain simulation verifies the results and further shows synthetic control has better performance among introduced strategies.Besides,initial design ranges of control parameters considering battery capacity and a renewable energy source scenario case are also discussed.This work could provide theoretical support for flexibility enhancement solutions for hydropower systems. 展开更多

Hybrid multi-terminal direct current(MTDC)transmission technology has been a research focus,and primary frequency regulation(FR)improvement in the receiving-end system is one of the problems to be solved.This paper presents a decentralized primary FR scheme for hybrid MTDC power systems considering multi-source enhancement to help suppress frequency disturbance in the receiving-end systems.All the converters only need local frequency or DC voltage signal input to respond to system disturbance without communication or a control center,i.e.,a decentralized control scheme.The proposed scheme can activate appropriate power sources to assist in FR in various system disturbance severities with fine-designed thresholds,ensuring sufficient utilization of each power source.To better balance FR performance and FR resource participation,an evaluation index is proposed and the parameter optimization problem is further conducted.Finally,the validity of the proposed scheme is verified by simulations in MATLAB/Simulink. 展开更多

As renewable energy resources increasingly penetrate the electric grid,the inertia capability of power systems has become a developmental bottleneck.Nevertheless,the importance of primary frequency response(PFR)when making generation-expansion plans has been largely ignored.In this paper,we propose an optimal generation-expansion planning framework for wind and thermal power plants that takes PFR into account.The model is based on the frequency equivalent model.It includes investment,startup/shutdown,and typical operating costs for both thermal and renewable generators.The linearization constraints of PFR are derived theoretically.Case studies based on the modified IEEE 39-bus system demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed method.Compared with methods that ignore PFR,the method proposed in this paper can effectively reduce the cost of the entire planning and operation cycle,improving the accommodation rate of renewable energy. 展开更多

This paper presents a method of tuning governor control parameters of an isolated hydropower generator considering the primary frequency performance and small-signal stability. First, generators that can be operated in isolated state are identified. Second, different schemes are proposed for generator mode switching from on-grid to off-grid state through comparison and mechanism analysis. Third, the time domain model and frequency domain model of the isolated generator governor are constructed to respectively estimate the primary frequency performance and small signal stability. Parameter sets that satisfy the primary frequency performance and small signal stability are acquired as optimal values of governor control parameters. Finally, the measurement-based parameters of the governor are identified and validated using simulations to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the method. 展开更多

新能源渗透率的提高增加了电网频率控制的复杂度,储能辅助电网调频能在一定程度上缓解该问题,但受储能运行的安全性与经济性约束,要求调频措施更具针对性。文中对此展开研究,提出一种基于频率响应特性的储能辅助电网一次调频方法。首先... 新能源渗透率的提高增加了电网频率控制的复杂度,储能辅助电网调频能在一定程度上缓解该问题,但受储能运行的安全性与经济性约束,要求调频措施更具针对性。文中对此展开研究,提出一种基于频率响应特性的储能辅助电网一次调频方法。首先,在储能辅助电网调频模型基础上,选择惯性加下垂的储能辅助电网调频综合控制方法,通过电网频率变化率(rate of change of frequency,RoCoF)、频率偏差与调频需求的关联性分析,设计基于频率响应特性的调频需求分区规则;然后,根据不同调频需求对应的分区判断,对储能有功输出方式进行动态调整,以响应调频需求的不确定性,并在此基础上,针对调频需求与储能出力需求、储能出力强弱与其循环使用寿命间的矛盾关系,通过多目标优化问题的设计与求解来予以平衡;最后,仿真结果验证了所提方法能够在保证电网调频效果的基础上,有效降低储能充放电深度。 展开更多

风电机组采用虚拟惯量参与电网调频时,其本质是带延时的快速功率响应,但虚拟惯量延时对频率控制的非线性影响尚不清晰。同时,虚拟惯量存在测频精度要求高、延时大、频率微分环节放大量测误差等固有缺陷。为此,提出了风电机组虚拟惯量延... 风电机组采用虚拟惯量参与电网调频时,其本质是带延时的快速功率响应,但虚拟惯量延时对频率控制的非线性影响尚不清晰。同时,虚拟惯量存在测频精度要求高、延时大、频率微分环节放大量测误差等固有缺陷。为此,提出了风电机组虚拟惯量延时的影响机理模型解析及替代性研究的思路。首先,通过将风电机组虚拟惯量和下垂控制的延时特性近似等效为一阶惯性环节,建立风电调频使用虚拟惯量和下垂控制的系统频率响应模型;其次,基于劳斯近似法对高阶模型进行降阶解析,求得系统频率最低点的解析表达式;然后,解析求解风电调频仅使用下垂控制的系统频率响应模型,并在频率最低点指标下给出与虚拟惯量和下垂控制相同调频效果的下垂控制系数设定方法。进一步,在设定下垂控制参数下,对比两种控制方式下的最大频率变化率、稳态频率等关键指标关系,得出结论:适当改变下垂系数可替代带延时虚拟惯量,并能取得比虚拟惯量和下垂控制更佳的调频效果。最后,建立仿真模型,并从系统频率响应动态、调频能量需求、风电机组响应功率等方面验证了分析的正确性。 展开更多

为提升风-储联合运行系统的动态频率稳定性能,针对目前调频控制策略未充分发挥风电机组频率调节能力、无法适应负荷扰动过大情况以及转子转速恢复阶段存在频率二次跌落的问题,提出一种考虑系统频率安全稳定约束的风储联合频率响应控制... 为提升风-储联合运行系统的动态频率稳定性能,针对目前调频控制策略未充分发挥风电机组频率调节能力、无法适应负荷扰动过大情况以及转子转速恢复阶段存在频率二次跌落的问题,提出一种考虑系统频率安全稳定约束的风储联合频率响应控制策略。在惯量响应阶段结合转速约束和频率指标自适应调整虚拟惯量和下垂控制系数,在转子转速恢复阶段利用负指数函数动态调整转速恢复过程中功率参考值,避免频率的二次跌落。将风电机组与储能电池结合,引入频率稳定域概念,利用储能电池扩展频率稳定域边界,进一步提升风储联合系统的抗负荷扰动能力和频率稳定性。最后对风储联合调频策略进行仿真,结果表明在不同风速和不同负荷扰动下,所提控制策略能充分发挥风电机组频率响应控制能力的同时,避免了频率二次跌落,提升了电网频率安全稳定性。 展开更多

电动汽车(EV)大规模发展会加大电网的调峰调频压力。通过换电站市场化运营,可有效激励换电站利用EV换电需求和换电站电池灵活性资源,缓解电网调峰调频压力。为此,提出了换电站参与电能量市场和调频辅助服务市场的协同竞价策略及其两阶... 电动汽车(EV)大规模发展会加大电网的调峰调频压力。通过换电站市场化运营,可有效激励换电站利用EV换电需求和换电站电池灵活性资源,缓解电网调峰调频压力。为此,提出了换电站参与电能量市场和调频辅助服务市场的协同竞价策略及其两阶段优化模型。第1阶段依据调频市场需求制定换电价格,引导EV调整换电需求,优化冗余电池数量及时序,以便与调频需求趋势一致,进而提升换电站调频服务收益;第2阶段考虑换电站需求响应和市场调峰调频需求,制定换电站竞价策略。所提出竞价策略在优先满足EV换电需求的同时,可降低换电站充电成本、提升调频服务收益,并助力电网调峰调频。算例仿真结果验证了所提策略的有效性。 展开更多
