宇宙成因核素测年方法在地表暴露测年和沉积物埋藏测年方面均具有重要应用价值,还可用于定量计算地表侵蚀、地形抬升和河流下切等反映气候及构造运动影响的地表过程速率,对研究地球各圈层之间的相互作用关系具有重要意义,是第四纪年代... 宇宙成因核素测年方法在地表暴露测年和沉积物埋藏测年方面均具有重要应用价值,还可用于定量计算地表侵蚀、地形抬升和河流下切等反映气候及构造运动影响的地表过程速率,对研究地球各圈层之间的相互作用关系具有重要意义,是第四纪年代学领域中一种重要的测年方法。与放射性宇宙成因核素10Be、26Al相比,稳定核素21Ne在地表暴露定年方面具有测年范围宽、测年材料选择范围广、测试所需样品量少、前处理过程简单等优点。通过与放射性核素的结合使用,稳定核素21Ne还可用于沉积物的埋藏测年,并具有比10Be-26Al埋藏测年法更高的测年上限和测年精度。稳定核素21Ne测年方法的应用在国内尚处于起步阶段,但可以预见,这一方法将以其独特的优势在第四纪地质学、地貌演化及活动构造等诸多研究领域得到广泛的应用。 展开更多

Cosmogenic Ne isotopes are stable and are routinely used for constraining the timing of events and the rate of surface change beyond the limit that can be studied with radionuclides ^(10)Be,^(26)Al, and ^(36)Cl. Cosmogenic Ne analysis can be used in quartz and in a range of other minerals. Analysis typically requires significantly less material than do cosmogenic ^(10)Be and^(26)Al, opening up the technique for small samples—individual pebbles in river sediments, for example. Analysis is easier and faster than for radionuclides, not least because Ne measurements do not require significant chemical procedures. However, the presence of other sources of Ne in minerals tends to restrict the use of cosmogenic ^(21)Ne to old landscapes and long exposure durations. In this review we briefly outline the background of cosmogenic Ne production in rocks and minerals at the Earth's surface, then document the key uses of the technique by highlighting some earlier studies, and finish with a short perspective on the future of the technique. 展开更多

Various sources of 21Ne and 22Ne exist in surface rocks:cosmogenic,in situ nucleogenic from internal U and Th,trapped crustal nucleogenic and trapped atmospheric.This paper reports the first measurement,in China,of cosmogenic 21Ne and 22Ne in surface bedrocks.We developed a unique sample pre-treatment procedure that effectively removed inclusions inside quartz grains,and thus maximally reduced nucleogenic contributions of 21Ne and 22Ne.Step-heating experiments show that concen-trations of cosmogenic 21Ne and 22Ne in summit bedrock samples R9202 and R9203 from Grove Mountains,Antarctica,are(3.83±0.87)×108 and(5.22±0.51)×108 atoms/g,respectively.The corresponding minimum exposure ages are 2.2±0.5 and 3.0±0.3 Ma.This indicates that the ice sheet in East Antarctica was uncovered the crest of Mount Harding,a typical nunatak in Grove Mountains,since at least mid-Pliocene. 展开更多

Landscape evolution is modulated by the regional tectonic uplift,climate change,and river dynamics.However,how to distinguish these mechanisms through the research of surface exhumation and fluvial incision remains controversial.In this study,cosmogenic ^(10)Be,^(26)Al,and ^(21)Ne concentrations in quartz from cave deposits,modern river sediments,and bedrocks were measured to constrain the applicability of cosmogenic ^(21)Ne and discuss Quaternary landscape evolution history in the Guizhou Plateau,southeast China.Using the ^(26)Al-^(10)Be and ^(21)Ne-^(10)Be pairs to distinguish the cosmogenic ^(21)Ne concentration from the excess ^(21)Ne,we found that the nucleogenic ^(21)Ne produced by the U and Th decay in quartz is significant in the samples although there is the possibility of inherited cosmogenic ^(21)Ne.Combining with previous studies,we suggest that the precise approach for applying the cosmogenic ^(21)Ne could be reached by(1)estimating the contribution from nucleogenic ^(21)Ne,(2)avoiding samples with complex burial histories to exclude inherited cosmogenic ^(21)Ne,and(3)combining the ^(10)Be-^(26)Al-^(21)Ne nuclides method for the Quaternary samples.In addition,both pre-burial basin denudation rates and burial ages derived from the ^(26)Al-^(10)Be pair were used to determine the different timescale surface denudation rate and fluvial incision rate in relation to previous work.The consistency of the different timescales pre-burial basin denudation rate,^(36)Cl surface denudation rate,and modern basin denudation rate indicates that the landscape-scale surface denudation has been likely stabilized since the Quaternary in the Guizhou Plateau area.The slightly higher river incision rates than the local surface denudation rate show that the river dynamics may not have reached a steady-state due to the regional tectonic uplift in the Guizhou Plateau. 展开更多
