According to the chemical design, electrorheological properties of supramolecular complex from β-cyclodextrin polymer (β -CDP) were discussed. Six supramolecular complexes of β-cyclodextrin polymer with substituted salicylic acid and 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid were synthesized by the solid-phase self-assembly method, and their component and structure were characterized by NMR, FT-IR, UV-vis and the fluorescence analysis. Then the electrorheological properties of their suspensions in silicone oil were investigated under DC electric fields. It was found that the yield stresses of these supramolecular complex ER fluids were 7.3–9.8 kPa at 4 kV/mm in DC electric field, which were enhanced by 34%–72% compared with that of pure β-CDP. Among them, that of β-CDP/3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid ER fluid was the highest. It was also found that the ER effect of supramolecular complexes can be controlled by changing different guests. When the substituted group is at phenyl ring, ER behavior can be slightly adjusted by the different substituted groups, their number as well as their position at phenyl ring. One novel nickel coordination polymer, {[Ni(OTP)(bib)1.5(H2O)]·2H2O}n(1, H2 OTP = 2-hydroxy-5-(3',5'-terephthalic acid) pyridine, bib = 1,4-bis(1-imdazoly)benzene), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis(EA), IR, powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD), and thermogravimetric(TG) analyses. The crystal of 1 crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P21/n with a = 12.2860(5), b = 13.8246(6), c = 19.0140(8) A, β = 104.3870(1)°, V = 3128.2(2) A3, Z = 4, C32H28N7 Ni O8, Mr = 697.32, Dc = 1.481 g/cm^3, F(000) = 1444 and μ(Mo Kα) = 0.684 mm-1. The final R = 0.0704 and w R = 0.1764 for 5485 observed reflections with I 2σ(I) and R = 0.1087 and wR = 0.2010 for all data. Topology analysis reveals that complex 1 is a 3D 2-fold interpenetrated {4^4·6^6}-nov net based on the 1D [Ni(OTP)]n chain and the 2D [Ni2(bib)3]n sql sheet. And the variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements exhibit weak antiferromagnetic coupling interaction. 展开更多

(R)-2-hydroxy-3-phenylpropionic acid (PIP,) is an ideal antimicrobial compound with broad-spectrum activity against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria, some Gram-negative bacteria, and fungi. We studied the bioconversion of phenylpyruvate (PPA) to PLA using whole recombinant Escherichia coli cells in a series of buffer/organic solvent systems. Octane was found to be the best organic solvent. The optimum volume ratio of the water phase to the n-octane phase, conversion temperature, substrate concentration, and cell concentration were 6:4, 40 ℃, 12.5 g/L, and 30 g/L wet cells, respectively. Under the optimized conditions, the average PLA productivity in the aqueous/ n-octane system was 30.69% higher than that in the aqueous system, and 32.31 g/L PLA was obtained with the use of a stirred reactor (2-L scale). Taken together, our findings indicated that PLA biosynthesis was more efficient in an aqueous/n-octane biphasic system than in a monophasic aqueous system. The proposed biphasic system is an effective strategy for enhancing PLA yield and the biosynthesis of its analogues. 展开更多

The reactions proceeded smoothly at room temperature and the 2-hydroxy-2-(1H-indol-3-yl)-N-substituted acetamide resulted from the reactions catalyzed by FeSO4 were synthesized in excellent yields (up to 93%).
