Chinese civilization,with its long and continuous history and rich cultural heritage,plays a central role in China’s dialogue with other civilizations.Therefore,it is necessary to collect and refine the defining symbols and best elements of Chinese culture and showcase them to the world;develop discourse and narrative systems with Chinese characteristics,better tell China’s stories,and make China’s voice heard.This effort can help Chinese civilization shine globally,interact with other civilizations,and promote its communication and influence worldwide.In China,history museums,as physical carriers of Chinese civilization,are an important component in developing Chinese discourse and narrative systems and an important channel to better tell China’s stories and make China’s voice heard.Improving the artistry of museum exhibitions caters to the public’s growing demand for a more enriching cultural experience and substantially promotes Chinese culture on a global scale.With the communication of Chinese civilization as the main focal point,this study investigated the current issues related to the artistry of history museum exhibitions in China and defined the artistry of history museum exhibitions and their connotations.Based on an in-depth analysis of the artistry of historical museum exhibitions within China,this paper enumerated the areas where improvements could be made to enhance exhibition artistry,intending to promote the communication of Chinese civilization. 展开更多

Reverberating Chinese Traditional Folk Art in a Contemporary Context

Envisioned as a practice-based research, this paper explored Chinese traditional folk arts and crafts with a focus on traditional decorative patterns, vivid colors, and symbolic motifs that enliven Foshan style paper-cuttings, New Year wood block prints, paper kites, festival lanterns, and Shiwan pottery figures from the areas of Foshan and Shiwan, near Guangzhou, China. The goal of this research was to create a series of original paintings by investigating Chinese traditional folk arts and handcrafts and integrating them physically or ichnographically on Ho's new body of paintings. Chinese traditional motifs including Chinese characters and Buddhist iconographies had already been important motifs in the contemporary Western paintings of Kong Ho for the past 10 years. This paper examined not only the artistic, cultural, and historical values but also the impacts of Chinese traditional folk arts and era~ on Ho's painting through a personal research travel and studies of a certain amount of Chinese paper-cuttings, folk prints, pottery, and handcrafts found in the famous Foshan Folk Art Studio and Foshan City Shiwan Ceramics Factory in Foshan, China. Furthermore, this paper investigated the symbolic meanings founded in Ho's spiritual paintings with strong Chinese heritage and how he reinterpreted those artifacts in a contemporary context. 展开更多

西方各国porcelain的拼写大同小异,学界普遍认同著名汉学家伯希和的研究:porcelain的语源与汉语无关,它源于法语porcelaine(子安贝),而后者又源于拉丁词porcellana(子安贝),该拉丁词又由porcus(猪)及pucelage(处女状态)派生。但跨文化... 西方各国porcelain的拼写大同小异,学界普遍认同著名汉学家伯希和的研究:porcelain的语源与汉语无关,它源于法语porcelaine(子安贝),而后者又源于拉丁词porcellana(子安贝),该拉丁词又由porcus(猪)及pucelage(处女状态)派生。但跨文化研究表明,porcelain是汉语"波斯蓝"的对音,得名源于中国古代制瓷所用从伊朗进口的色料。历史上,西方人先认识瓷器,后认识子安贝。因而,在西方语言中,该词先有"瓷器"义,然后再分两个方向演变:一从外貌、形状的角度,衍生出"子安贝"、"贝壳"、"货币"、"牙齿"等含义;另一从颜色("青花")的角度,产生"马齿苋"等词汇。这一研究成果还证实,至少在元代,我国制瓷用的上等色料确实来自伊朗。 展开更多

Looking back over the past 30-odd years of research development, it could be said there existed four general periods: A brainstorm period, an initial "beginning" period, a period of maturation and lastly an expansion period. From looking at the context of [its] theoretical development, it is clear that scholars researching Chinese social history were, from the beginning, focused on how exactly to define "society." This, however, resulted in much debate about the different concepts of social history itself. Though the matter has yet to be setded, the ultimate research objective for the field of historical social research is in its pursuit of truth. The formation of the Chinese nation as one community is not only the result of the interaction of various factors such as politics,economy,culture,and natural environment,but also an inevitable trend in historical development.However,cultural identity and integration are the most important factors.Classics are the essence of national culture,and they have always played an important role in shaping,communicating,identifying,and integrating ethnic cultures.In Chinese history,regardless of whether various ethnic groups were in control of a region or entered the Central Plains,they relied on reading Chinese classics and learning Chinese culture as the basis for their survival,and identified themselves as members of the Chinese nation.This eternal historical law is particularly evident in the Liao,Western Xia,Jin,and Yuan dynasties.Summarizing the reading history of these ethnic groups and societies,learning from their historical experience,and exploring and inheriting the reading cultural resources of the Chinese nation are necessary for the formation of the Chinese nation as one community. 展开更多

论文回顾和梳理了120多年来丁龙研究的成果与主体,丁龙研究的学术分期以及丁龙文化符号的再建构。研究显示,1901—2022年,中美有关丁龙研究的文献成果,据不完全统计有126篇(部),成果形式多样。丁龙研究的主体,包括新闻记者、专家学者、... 论文回顾和梳理了120多年来丁龙研究的成果与主体,丁龙研究的学术分期以及丁龙文化符号的再建构。研究显示,1901—2022年,中美有关丁龙研究的文献成果,据不完全统计有126篇(部),成果形式多样。丁龙研究的主体,包括新闻记者、专家学者、广播电视工作者和侨务工作者。丁龙研究的学术分期主要分为两个阶段:建构阶段(1901—2000年)和解构阶段(2000年至今)。丁龙的“视野和理想”具有更加丰富的内涵,为再构建提供了更加广阔的空间。一是从美国排华视域研究丁龙;二是从美国早期“中国观”视域研究丁龙;三是从中美文化交流视域研究丁龙。“丁龙汉学讲座教授”的设立,是20世纪初发生在美国纽约的一个历史事件,开美国汉语教学、中国文化研究之先河。如今,“丁龙”已经成为美国汉学史、美国华侨史、中美文化交流史的一个重要的文化象征和标志性文化符号。 展开更多

反思现代西方“神话”历史:“古希腊起源”、霸权意识和回溯式目的论

神话历史是指以解释和维护现实为目标而构建的历史,它往往遮蔽真实的历史。由于存在巨大的可信文字记录断裂期、现实政治的需要和现代西方史学作为民族国家神圣化工具的地位等重要因素,西方史学中存在大量神话历史。西方文明的“古希腊... 神话历史是指以解释和维护现实为目标而构建的历史,它往往遮蔽真实的历史。由于存在巨大的可信文字记录断裂期、现实政治的需要和现代西方史学作为民族国家神圣化工具的地位等重要因素,西方史学中存在大量神话历史。西方文明的“古希腊起源”论是现代西方神话历史构架的基石。它并非古已有之,而是出现于17世纪末18世纪初,是随着资本主义发展而形成的新的欧洲文化自我意识在历史中投射的产物。以西欧为中心的资本主义兴起的历史进程,也是欧洲全球霸权形成的过程。新的欧洲文化自我意识在进行自我解释时,同时也是在对欧洲霸权进行解释。新的欧洲文化自我意识渗透着霸权意识。当它投射于历史时,霸权意识形成西方神话历史的五大迷思:西方文明特质论、西方文明内在发展论、西方文明天定命运论、西方文明世界引领论、西方文明使命论。回溯式目的论是西方神话历史谬误产生的重要的认识论根源,它衍生三大方法论错误:以结果做原因,预设西方文明特质;寻找相似性,虚构内在连续性;将历史目的论化、泛道德化。 展开更多

中国自主知识体系与话语的完整建构,一直是当代文艺建设的难题,在大量西方话语资源的充斥下,很难看清中国文艺理论的原本面貌,中国文艺评论在国际舞台上也几近失声。归根结底,是中华文化自信力的丧失,导致中国学人往往与传统文化疏离和... 中国自主知识体系与话语的完整建构,一直是当代文艺建设的难题,在大量西方话语资源的充斥下,很难看清中国文艺理论的原本面貌,中国文艺评论在国际舞台上也几近失声。归根结底,是中华文化自信力的丧失,导致中国学人往往与传统文化疏离和隔膜,没有能力打破西方文明对中华文明的偏见与歧视。本文对历史遗留的话语困境进行了反思,指出文明互鉴对于人类发展的重要意义,重建中国文艺评论知识体系的另一个角度,是认识到西方文明常常借鉴自东方,中华民族数千年的积淀足以支撑起中国话语体系的理论框架与范畴术语。我们想要获得与西方世界平等对话的权利,可以从“重写文明史”入手,用客观史实还原人类文明的发展与文明互鉴的脉络,解构西方文明的话语霸权,从而摆脱西方文化对东方的歪曲与蔑视,完善中国文艺评论与中华现代文明的建设,强化文明互鉴,促进人类命运共同体的全面构建。 展开更多
