This paper is to detect regions (objects) boundaries, also to isolate and extract individual components from a medical image. This can be done using an active contours to detect regions in a given image, based on techniques of curve evolution, Mumford Shah functional for segmentation and level sets. The paper classified the images into different intensity regions based on Markov random field, then detected regions whose boundaries are not necessarily defined by gradient by minimizing an energy of Mumford Shah functional for segmentation which can be seen as a particular case of the minimal partition problem. In the level set formulation, the problem becomes a mean curvature flow like evolving the active contour, which will stop on the desired boundary. The stopping term does not depend on the gradient of the image, as in the classical active contour and the initial curve of level set can be anywhere in the image, and interior contours are automatically detected. The final image segmentation is one closed boundary per actual region in the image. 展开更多

In many experiments, plastic scintillators are used as a counter instead of Geiger Muller counter, because they are so fast and they are used for pulsed neutron sources. So a silver activation counter has been constructed by plastic scintillator plates along with silver foils for determination the neutron yield of a 2.48 kJ plasma focus device, SBUPF1. This counter was calibrated by source removal method with an Am-Be 5 Ci neutron source which was placed above the anode of plasma focus device. Deuterium gas up to 8 mbar pressure was injected to this device, and the neutron yield produced by pulsed D-D fusion of plasma focus device was measured by the counter. The neutron yield of SBUPF1 in 8 mbar pressure was obtained (3.71± 0.32)×10^7 neutrons per shot. This result has relatively agreed with the neutron yield measured by silver activation Geiger counters. 展开更多

Nanowire-shaped α-Mo O3 was synthesized on a large scale by hydrothermal route.Nanocrystalline α-Mo2 C phase was obtained by the carburization of α-Mo O3 nanowires with urea as a carbon source precursor. The phase purity and crystalline size of the synthesized materials were ascertained by using powder X-ray diffraction. The shape and morphology of synthesized materials were characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HR-TEM).The electrocatalytic activity of α-Mo2 C for I-/I3^-redox couple was investigated by the cyclic voltammetry. The synthesized α-Mo2 C was subsequently applied as counter electrode in dye-sensitized solar cells to replace the expensive platinum. 展开更多
