In order to minimize the harmonic distortion rate of the current at the common coupling point,this paper proposes a coordinated allocation strategy of harmonic compensation capacity considering the performance of active power filters(APF).On the premise of proportional distribution of harmonic compensation capacity,the harmonic compensation rate of each APF is considered,and the harmonic current value of each APF to be compensated is obtained.At the same time,the communication topology is introduced.Each APF takes into account the compensation ability of other APFs.Finally,three APFs with different capacity and performance are configured at the harmonic source to suppress the same harmonic source,and the harmonic distortion rate is reduced to 1.73%.The simulation results show that the strategy can effectively improve the compensation capability of the multiple APF cascaded system to the power grid without increasing the installed capacity. 展开更多

The China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor plans to build a 200 k V/25 A acceleration grid power supply(AGPS)for the negative-ion-based neutral beam injector prototype system.The AGPS uses a rectifier-inverter-isolated step-up structure.There is a DC bus between the rectifier and the inverter.In order to limit DC bus voltage ripple and transient fluctuations,a large number of capacitors are used,which degrades the reliability of the power supply and occupies a large amount of space.This work finds that due to the difference in the turn-off time of the rectifier and the inverter,the capacitance mainly depends on the rectifier current when the inverter is turned off.On this basis,an active power filter(APF)scheme is proposed to absorb the current.To enhance the dynamic response ability of the APF,model predictive control is adopted.In this paper,the circuit structure of the APF is introduced,the prediction model is deduced,the corresponding control strategy and signal detection method are proposed,and the simulation and experimental results show that APF can track the transient current of the DC bus and reduce the voltage fluctuation significantly. 展开更多

The growing problems of harmonic pollution on coal mine power lines caused by high-power DC drive systems has increased the use of active power filters.We analyzed compensation errors caused by the time lag in the detecting circuits of an active power filter based on DSP control.We derived a mathematical model for the compensation error starting from the error estimation when a single distortion frequency is present.This model was then extended to the case where multiple frequencies are present in the distortion.A formula for a general theory of compensation error with fixed load and fixed lag time is presented.The theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the delay time of an active power filter mainly arises from the sampling time.Lower sampling frequencies introduce larger compensation errors in the active power filter reference current. 展开更多

This paper presents the control of the active filter by Duty Cycle Modulation (DCM) for the harmonic pollution control of a three-phase electrical system. Several research works have preceded this work, but most of them deal with the control by pulse-width modulation and the differences lie around the THD reduction performance, the quality of the wave obtained, the simplicity of the scheme and the cost of the control. For this purpose, we propose a very innovative approach to active filter control which aims at reducing the current THD at a lower rate than pulse-width modulation techniques improving at the same time the wave quality with a more simplified control scheme. First we present the schematic diagram of the active filter, then we present the design of the control of this active filter based on the real and imaginary instantaneous power method which uses the algebraic “Clark” transformation. The Duty Cycle Modulation controller is used to obtain the required control commands to be injected to the inverter. We then developed a simulink model of the active filter to validate this study. The simulations were performed in the Matlab/Simulink environment. The results obtained show a significant improvement on the harmonic current control techniques for the THD of 1.02% which was 26.25%, the elimination of noise in the signal and the simplicity of the control with an easier implementation than the pulse width modulation (PWM) make the Duty Cycle Modulation (DCM) control a very promising tool. 展开更多

This paper proposes the optimum controller for shunt active filter(SAF)to mitigate the harmonics and maintain the power quality in the distribution system.It consists of shunt active filter,Voltage Source Inverter(VSI),series inductor and DC bus and nonlinear load.The proposed hybrid approach is a combination of Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)and Artificial Neural Network(ANN)termed as PSOANN.The PI controller gain parameters of kp and ki are optimized with the help of PSOANN.The PSOANN improves the accuracy of tuning the gain parameters under steady and dynamic load conditions;thereby it reduces the values of THD within the prescribed limits of IEEE 519.The PSO optimizes the dataset of terminal voltage and DC voltage present in shunt active filter for different load condition.The optimized dataset acts as the input for the controller to predict the optimal gain with minimal error and to generate the optimized control signal for the SAF.The proposed methodology is modelled and simulated with the help of MATLAB/Simulink platform and illustrated the few test cases considered for exhibiting the performance of proposed hybrid controller.The experimental results are measured with developed laboratory prototype and compared with the simulation results to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control methodology. 展开更多

With the widespread application of power electronic equipment in the power grid,the harmonic problem of the power grid becomes more pronounced,reducing the efficiency of power production,transmission,and utilization,and interfering with the normal operation of the power grid.Based on the requirements of harmonic suppression and power system protection,a shunt active power filter(SAPF)is proposed as an effective harmonic suppression method.However,there are problems with impulse current and impulse voltage in the starting process of SAPF.Impulse current and impulse voltage cause the power grid and switchgear to bear greater current stress and voltage stress,which seriously affect the security and reliability of the power grid and may damage the switchgear.To effectively solve the problem of impulse current and impulse voltage,the starting process of SAPF is divided into the uncontrolled rectification stage and the transition stage.The mathematical model of the DC side of APF is established.The causes of impulse current and impulse voltage in the uncontrolled rectifier and transition phases are analyzed.By introducing voltage square,a new starting impulse suppression strategy of active power filter based on the slow rising curve is proposed,fundamentally solving the problems of impulse current and impulse voltage.Simulation results verify the effectiveness and feasibility of this method. 展开更多

This research work brings out the unique predictive current control method for attaining an efficient grid connected Photo Voltaic (PV) system by Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) as grid connected converter. The major objective of the research work is to address the presence of Direct Current (DC) component, frequency improvement, quicker theta response, voltage magnitude estimation in the input signal of the Phase Locked Loop (PLL) which is challenging. This work focuses on tuning the PLL block (K<sub>p</sub>, K<sub>i</sub>, K<sub>v</sub> and K<sub>o</sub>) through Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) optimization algorithm. The proposed ABC based modified three-phase PLL method is based on adding a new loop inside the PLL structure. In power converters, ABC algorithm is used to select the optimal switching states. The voltage vector which minimizes a cost optimization function is selected. Simulation is carried out for both balanced and unbalanced system and the results validate that the performance of the proposed approach is better in terms of harmonic compensation as per the IEEE standards within ±5%, power factor improvement of the system, quicker theta tracking and suppression of frequency jump with the interconnection of PV system. 展开更多

The synchronous reference frame (SRF) method is used to extract reference current in 4-leg shunt active filter. The Hysteresis Current Controller (HCC) is used to generate gate pulses for Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) based 4-leg shunt active power filter. The proposed PSO technique gives less percentage of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) value in source and neutral current and settling time of the DC capacitor voltage compared to conventional PI controller technique. The model of the proposed system performance was validated using MATLAB/Simulink environment. 展开更多

However, the harmonic pollution of shale gas grid becomes more serious due to the converter and frequency conversion device in the system, which easily causes harmonic resonance problem. Therefore, the harmonic resonance of shale gas grid is comprehensively analyzed and treated. Firstly, the working mechanism of compressor, electric drilling RIGS of the harmonic impedance model of electric fracturing pump system is established. Secondly, the main research methods of harmonic resonance analysis are introduced, and the basic principle of modal analysis is explained. Modal analysis method was used to analyze. Finally, harmonic resonance is suppressed. The results show that there may be multiple resonant frequency points in the distribution network changes, but these changes are relatively clear;if the original resonant frequency point of the resonant loop does not exist, the resonant frequency point disappears. The optimal configuration strategy of passive filter can effectively suppress harmonic resonance of distribution network in shale gas field. 展开更多

The circuit enjoys independent tunability of angular frequency and bandwidth. The 0.5 μm technology process parameters have been utilized to test and verify the performance characteristics of the circuit using PSPICE. Nonlinear loads in the power distribution system cause non-sinusoidal currents and voltages with harmonic components.Shunt active filters(SAF) with current controlled voltage source inverters(CCVSI) are usually used to obtain balanced and sinusoidal source currents by injecting compensation currents.However,CCVSI with traditional controllers have a limited transient and steady state performance.In this paper,we propose an adaptive dynamic programming(ADP) controller with online learning capability to improve transient response and harmonics.The proposed controller works alongside existing proportional integral(PI) controllers to efficiently track the reference currents in the d-q domain.It can generate adaptive control actions to compensate the PI controller.The proposed system was simulated under different nonlinear(three-phase full wave rectifier) load conditions.The performance of the proposed approach was compared with the traditional approach.We have also included the simulation results without connecting the traditional PI control based power inverter for reference comparison.The online learning based ADP controller not only reduced average total harmonic distortion by 18.41%,but also outperformed traditional PI controllers during transients. 展开更多

With the increase in the switching frequency and power density,DC-DC converters encounter more severe electromagnetic interference(EMI)problems.To suppress the common-mode EMI generated by converters,as well as maintain the high-power-density of converters,the active EMI filter(AEF)has attracted increasing interest owing to its small volume.The EMI suppression effect of the common single-stage single-sense single-injection AEF is confined because of the limited insertion loss,and the volume of the multi-stage AEF will be bulky.To solve this problem,this paper proposes a compact dual-current-injection current-sense current-compensation(DCJ-CSCC)AEF to increase the insertion loss in the entire conducted EMI frequency band,as well as considering the volume of the AEF.The structure and operating principle of the proposed AEF are introduced.Finally,taking a boost converter as an example,the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed DCJ-CSCC AEF were verified through a simulation and experiment,the results show that the proposed AEF has a better EMI suppression effect on the entire conducted EMI frequency band with a similar volume compared with existing single-injection feedforward current-sense current-compensation(FF-CSCC)and feedback current-sense current-compensation(FB-CSCC)AEFs.This paper provides a new selection for EMI suppression in DC-DC converters. 展开更多

In this article, we propose a topology of a TLC-HAPF power filter as a harmonic compensator for an optimization of the pollution control of electrical networks. This filter consists of an active part and a passive part in order to reduce or limit switching losses during current injection into networks thanks to its TLC module. This topology also provides solutions dynamic performance issues, resonance and lack of compensation capacity for imbalance cases. It also offers a greater range of compensation than conventional active models which do not offer as well as an intermediate circuit voltage in the order of 105 V to 109 V relatively lower than others models (600 v). A modulated hysteresis control of this topology is therefore also developed in this article and allows to obtain a network analysis on the three phases at three levels: source side, load side, and finally at the connection of the filter to the network, allowing to specify for these different positions the value of the current spectrum and its THD at this well-defined moment. 展开更多

This paper proposes a steady-state errors correction(SSEC)method for eliminating measurement errors.This method is based on the detections of error signal E(s)and output C(s)which generate an expected output R(s).In comparison with the conventional solutions which are based on detecting the expected output R(s)and output C(s)to obtain error signal E(s),the measurement errors are eliminated even the error might be at a significant level.Moreover,it is possible that the individual debugging by regulating the coefficient K for every member of the multiple objectives achieves the optimization of the open loop gain.Therefore,this simple method can be applied to the weak coupling and multiple objectives system,which is usually controlled by complex controller.The principle of eliminating measurement errors is derived analytically,and the advantages comparing with the conventional solutions are depicted.Based on the SSEC method analysis,an application of this method for an active power filter(APF)is investigated and the effectiveness and viability of the scheme are demonstrated through the simulation and experimental verifications. 展开更多

The iUPQC is a Unified Power Quality Conditioner in which the series converter emulates a sinusoidal current source and the shunt converter emulates a sinusoidal voltage source. This approach provides indirect power quality compensation of the load voltage and the source current. Recent studies have suggested that the iUPQC has technical advantages in comparison with the conventional UPQC due to its reduced switching frequency characteristic. In this paper, these technical advantages are investigated. Thus, the iUPQC performance is verified through a 150 kVA industrial equipment and technical design specifications are discussed: the iUPQC power circuit design, the converters arrangement and the driver configuration. Experimental results are provided to validate the technical feasibility and power quality compensation performance. 展开更多
