Surface roughening methods, such as sand blasting, acid etching and alkaline degreasing for the metal matrix are used to increase bond strength. However, the metal matrix of PFM processed by selective laser melting(SLM) has natural rough surface. To explore the effect of the original roughness on metal-ceramic bond strength, two groups of specimen are fabricated by SLM. One group of specimen surface is polished smooth while another group remains the original rough surface. The dental porcelain is fused to the specimens' surfaces according to the ISO 9693:1999 standard. To gain the bond strength, a three-point bending test is carried out and X ray energy spectrum analysis(EDS), scanning electron microscope(SEM) are used to show fracture mode. The results show that the mean bond strength is 116.5 16 MPa of the group with rough surface(Ra= 17.2), and the fracture mode is cohesive. However, when the surface is smooth (Ra =3.8), the mean bond strength is 74.5 MPa _+ 5 MPa and the fracture mode is mixed. The original surface with prominent structures formed by the partly melted powder particles, not only increases surface roughness but also significantly improves the bond strength by forming strong mechanical lock effect. Statistical analysis (Student's t-test) demonstrates a significant difference (p〈0.05) of the mean value of bond strength between the two groups. The experiments indicate the natural rough surface can enhance the metal-ceramic bond strength to over four times the minimum value (25 MPa) of the ISO 9693:1999 standard. It is found that the natural rough surface of SLM-made PFM can eliminate the porcelain collapse defect produced by traditional casting method in PFM restorations.展开更多

The results show that severe dendritic segregation exists in the experimental alloy ingot. Numerous eutectic phases can be observed in the grain boundary, and the distribution of the main elements along the interdendritic region varies periodically. The main secondary phase is Al2Cu. The overburnt temperature of the alloy is 520 °C. The second phases are gradually dissolved into the matrix, and the grain boundaries become spare and thin during homogenization with increasing temperature or prolonging holding time. Homogenization can be described by a constitutive equation in exponential function. The suitable homogenization treatment for the alloy is (510 °C, 18 h), which agrees well with the results of homogenization kinetic analysis.展开更多

It was found that Sr addition leads to the coarsening of α-Mg matrix. However, with the Sr content increasing from 0.1% to 0.5%, the grain size decreases from 83.9 to 65.8 μm. The addition of Sr ranging from 0.1% to 0.3% refines the Al2Ca phase. It changes the morphology of the Al2Ca phase from bone-shaped to granular or banding, and increases its volume fraction. The decrease of grain size of the α-Mg matrix is due to the increase of the effective undercooling degree of the melt and the constitutional undercooling in a diffusion layer ahead of the advancing solid/liquid interface in the alloy modified by the Sr additions. The modification mechanism of Al2Ca is attributed to the adsorption of Sr additions to the Al2Ca crystal. When the Sr content increases to 0.5%, the alloy is over-modified.展开更多

The calculated lattice parameters are in good agreement with the experimental and literature values. The calculated heats of formation and cohesive energies show that Al_2Ca has the strongest alloying ability and structural stability. The densities of states(DOS), Mulliken electron occupation number, metallicity and charge density difference of these compounds are given. The elastic constants of Mg_(17)Al_(12), Al_2Ca, Mg_2 Sn and Mg_2 Ca phases are calculated, and the bulk moduli, shear moduli, elastic moduli and Poisson ratio are derived. The calculations of thermodynamic properties show that the Gibbs free energies of Al_2Ca and Mg_2 Sn are lower than that of Mg_(17)Al_(12), which indicates that Al_2Ca and Mg_2 Sn are more stable than Mg_(17)Al_(12) phase. Hence, the heat resistance of Mg-Al-based alloys can be improved by adding Ca and Sn additions.展开更多

The results show that severe dendritic segregation exists in the as-cast ingot. There are many secondary phases, includingTB(Al7Cu4Li),θ(Al2Cu),R(Al5CuLi3) andS(Al2CuMg) phases, and a small amount of (Mg+Ag+Zn)-containing and AlCuFeMn phases. The fractions of intermetallic phases decrease sharply after 2 h of second-step homogenization. By prolonging the second-step homogenization time, theTB,θ,R,S and (Mg+Ag+Zn)-containing phases completely dissolve into the matrix. The dendritic segregation is eliminated, and the homogenization kinetics can be described by a constitutive equation in exponential function. However, it seems that the AlCuFeMn phase is separated into Al7Cu2Fe and AlCuMn phases, and the size of Al7Cu2Fe phase exhibits nearly no change when the second-step homogenization time is longer than 2 h.展开更多

The micro-hardness measurements indicate that compared with un-deformed samples, the peak hardness is increased and the time to reach peak hardness is reduced with increasing pre-strain. Additionally, a double-peak hardness evolution behavior of cold-rolled (CR) samples was observed during aging. The results of TEM observation show that the number density of S′(Al2CuMg) phase is increased and the size is decreased in CR alloy with increase of pre-strain. The peak hardness and peak strength of the CR alloy are increased because of quantity increasing and refinement of S′ phase and high density dislocation.展开更多

It is found that the natural rough surface of SLM-made PFM can eliminate the porcelain collapse defect produced by traditional casting method in PFM restorations.

文摘In order to improve the hot corrosion resistance of DZ125 alloy,Ce-Y modified aluminum coatings were prepared on DZ125 alloy by pack cementation process at 950°C for 2 h.The microstructure, phase constitution and formation mechanism of the coatings were investigated. The hot corrosion behaviors of DZ125 alloy and the coatings in molten salt environment of 25%K2SO4+75%Na2SO4(mass fraction)at 900°C were studied. Results show that the obtained Al-Ce-Y coatings were mainly composed of Al3Ni2,Al3Ni and Cr7Ni3,with a thickness of about 120μm.After hot corrosion test,DZ125 alloy suffered catastrophic hot corrosion and serious internal oxidation and internal sulfidation arose. Two layers of corrosion products formed on surfaces of DZ125 alloy, including the outer layer consisting of Cr2O3 and NiCr2O4,and the inner layer of Al2O3,Ni3S2 and Ni-base solid solution. After being coated with Al-Ce-Y coating, the hot corrosion resistance of DZ125 alloy is improved notably, due to the formation of a dense scale mainly consisting of Al-rich Al2O3 in the coating layer.
文摘Four typical theories on the formation of thermal tears:strength, liquid film, intergranular bridging, and solidifica-tion shrinkage compensation theories. From these theories,a number of criteria have been derived for predicting the formation of thermal cracks, such as the stress-based Niyama,Clyne, and RDG(Rapaz-Dreiser-Grimaud)criteria.In this paper,a mathematical model of horizontal centrifugal casting was established, and numerical simulation analysis was conducted for the centrifugal casting process of cylindrical Al-Cu alloy castings to investigate the effect of the centrifugal casting process conditions on the microstructure and hot tearing sensitivity of alloy castings by using the modified RDG hot tearing criterion. Results show that increasing the centrifugal rotation and pouring speeds can refine the microstructure of the alloy but increasing the pouring and mold preheating temperatures can lead to an increase in grain size. The grain size gradually transitions from fine grain on the outer layer to coarse grain on the inner layer.Meanwhile, combined with the modified RDG hot tearing criterion, the overall distribution of the castings’hot tearing sensitivity was analyzed. The analysis results indicate that the porosity in the middle region of the casting was large, and hot tearing defects were prone to occur. The hot tearing tendency on the inner side of the casting was greater than that on the outer side. The effects of centrifugal rotation speed, pouring temperature, and preheating temperature on the thermal sensitivity of Al-Cu alloy castings are summarized in this paper. This study revealed that the tendency of alloy hot cracking decreases with the increase of the centrifugal speed, and the maximum porosity of castings decreases first and then increases with the pouring temperature. As the preheating temperature increases, the overall maximum porosity of castings shows a decreasing trend.

文摘Artificially controlling the solid-state precipitation in aluminum (Al) alloys is an efficient way to achieve well-performed properties, and the microalloying strategy is the most frequently adopted method for such a purpose. In this paper, recent advances in lengthscale-dependent scandium (Sc) microalloying effects in Al-Cu model alloys are reviewed. In coarse-grained Al-Cu alloys, the Sc-aided Cu/Sc/vacancies complexes that act as heterogeneous nuclei and Sc segregation at the θ′-Al_(2)Cu/matrix interface that reduces interfacial energy contribute significantly to θ′precipitation.By grain size refinement to the fine/ultrafine-grained scale, the strongly bonded Cu/Sc/vacancies complexes inhibit Cu and vacancy diffusing toward grain boundaries, promoting the desired intragranular θ′precipitation. At nanocrystalline scale, the applied high strain producing high-density vacancies results in the formation of a large quantity of (Cu Sc,vacancy)-rich atomic complexes with high thermal stability, outstandingly improving the strength/ductility synergy and preventing the intractable low-temperature precipitation. This review recommends the use of microalloying technology to modify the precipitation behaviors toward better combined mechanical properties and thermal stability in Al alloys.

文摘The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of a T8-aged Al-Cu-Li alloy with increased pre-deformation(0-15%) were investigated, revealing the microstructure-strength relationship and the intrinsic strengthening mechanism. The results show that increasing the pre-deformation levels remarkably improves the strength of the alloy but deteriorates its ductility.Dislocations introduced by pre-deformation effectively suppress the formation of Guinier-Preston(GP) zones and provide more nucleation sites for T1 precipitates. This leads to more intensive and finer T1 precipitates in the samples with higher pre-deformation levels.Simultaneously, the enhanced precipitation of T1 precipitates and inhibited formation of GP zones cause the decreases in number and sizes of θ′ precipitates. The quantitative descriptions of the strength contributions from different strengthening mechanisms reveal that strengthening contributions from T1 and θ′ precipitates decrease with increasing pre-deformation.The reduced diameters of T1 precipitates are primarily responsible for their weakened strengthening effects. Therefore, the improved strength of the T8-aged Al-Cu-Li alloy is mainly attributed to the stronger strain hardening from the increased pre-deformation levels.

文摘As a promising material in the aircraft industry,2A97 Al-Cu-Li alloy exhibits high corrosion susceptibility that may limit its application. In the present work,to illustrate the influences of precipitate and grain-stored energy on localized corrosion evolution in 2A97 Al-Cu-Li alloy, cold working and artificial aging were carried out to produce 2A97 Al-Cu-Li alloys under different thermomechanical conditions.Quasi-in-situ analysis, traditional immersion test and electrochemical measurement were then conducted to examine the corrosion behavior of 2A97 alloys. It is revealed that precipitate significantly affects Cu enrichment at corrosion fronts, which determines corrosion susceptibility of alloys, whereas grain-stored energy distribution is closely associated with localized corrosion propagation. It is also indicated that quasi-in-situ analysis exhibits a consistent corrosion evolution with traditional immersion tests, which is regarded as a proper method to explore localized corrosion mechanisms by providing local microstructural information with enhanced time and spatial resolutions.

文摘In recent years, medium entropy alloys have become a research hotspot due to their excellent physical and chemical performances.By controlling reasonable elemental composition and processing parameters, the medium entropy alloys can exhibit similar properties to high entropy alloys and have lower costs. In this paper,a FeCoNi medium entropy alloy precursor was prepared via sol-gel and coprecipitation methods, respectively, and FeCoNi medium entropy alloys were prepared by carbothermal and hydrogen reduction. The phases and magnetic properties of FeCoNi medium entropy alloy were investigated. Results showed that FeCoNi medium entropy alloy was produced by carbothermal and hydrogen reduction at 1500℃.Some carbon was detected in the FeCoNi medium entropy alloy prepared by carbothermal reduction. The alloy prepared by hydrogen reduction was uniform and showed a relatively high purity. Moreover, the hydrogen reduction product exhibited better saturation magnetization and lower coercivity.

文摘High pressure die casting(HPDC)AlSi10Mn Mg alloy castings are widely used in the automobile industry.Mg can optimize the mechanical properties of castings through heat treatment, while the release of thermal stress arouses the deformation of large integrated die-castings.Herein,the development of non-heat treatment Al alloys is becoming the hot topic. In addition,HPDC contains externally solidified crystals(ESCs),which are detrimental to the mechanical properties of castings. To achieve high strength and toughness of non-heat treatment die-casting Al-Si alloy,we used AlSi9Mn alloy as matrix with the introduction of Zr,Ti,Nb,and Ce.Their influences on ESCs and mechanical properties were systematically investigated through three-dimensional reconstruction and thermodynamic simulation. Our results reveal that the addition of Ti increased ESCs'size and porosity, while the introduction of Nb refined ESCs and decreased porosity.Meanwhile,large-sized Al_3(Zr,Ti)phases formed and degraded the mechanical properties.Subsequent introduction of Ce resulted in the poisoning effect and reduced mechanical properties.

文摘Microstructure, texture, and mechanical properties of the extruded Mg-2.49Nd-1.82Gd-0.2Zn-0.2Zr alloy were investigated at different extrusion temperatures(260 and 320℃),extrusion ratios(10:1,15:1,and 30:1),and extrusion speeds(3 and 6 mm/s).The experimental results exhibited that the grain sizes after extrusion were much finer than that of the homogenized alloy, and the second phase showed streamline distribution along the extrusion direction(ED).With extrusion temperature increased from 260 to 320℃,the microstructure, texture, and mechanical properties of alloys changed slightly. The dynamic recrystallization(DRX)degree and grain sizes enhanced as the extrusion ratio increased from 10:1 to 30:1,and the strength gradually decreased but elongation(EL)increased. With the extrusion speed increased from 3 to 6 mm/s,the grain sizes and DRX degree increased significantly, and the samples presented the typical<2111>-<1123>rare-earth(RE)textures.The alloy extruded at 260℃ with extrusion ratio of 10:1 and extrusion speed of 3 mm/s showed the tensile yield strength(TYS)of 213 MPa and EL of 30.6%.After quantitatively analyzing the contribution of strengthening mechanisms,it was found that the grain boundary strengthening and dislocation strengthening played major roles among strengthening contributions. These results provide some guidelines for enlarging the industrial application of extruded Mg-RE alloy.

文摘This study investigated the microstructure and hydrogen absorption properties of a rare-earth high-entropy alloy(HEA),YGdTbDyHo.Results indicated that the YGdTbDyHo alloy had a microstructure of equiaxed grains, with the alloy elements distributed homogeneously.Upon hydrogen absorption, the phase structure of the HEA changed from a solid solution with an hexagonal-close-packed(HCP)structure to a high-entropy hydride with an faced-centered-cubic(FCC)structure without any secondary phase precipitated. The alloy demonstrated a maximum hydrogen storage capacity of 2.33 H/M(hydrogen atom/metal atom)at 723 K,with an enthalpy change(ΔH)of-141.09 kJ·mol^(-1)and an entropy change(ΔS)of-119.14 J·mol^(-1)·K^(-1).The kinetic mechanism of hydrogen absorption was hydride nucleation and growth, with an apparent activation energy(E_(a))of 20.90 kJ·mol^(-1).Without any activation, the YGdTbDyHo alloy could absorb hydrogen quickly(180 s at 923 K)with nearly no incubation period observed. The reason for the obtained value of 2.33 H/M was that the hydrogen atoms occupied both tetrahedral and octahedral interstices. These results demonstrate the potential application of HEAs as a high-capacity hydrogen storage material with a large H/M ratio, which can be used in the deuterium storage field.
文摘The microstructure evolution of Al-Cu-Li-Mn-Zr-Ti alloy during homogenization was investigated by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX), and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) methods. The suitable homogenization treatment for the alloy is (510 °C, 18 h), which agrees well with the results of homogenization kinetic analysis.

文摘The microstructure evolution of Mg-Al-Ca alloys modified by the addition of strontium was investigated. When the Sr content increases to 0.5%, the alloy is over-modified.

文摘The structural stability, electronic structures, elastic properties and thermodynamic properties of the main binary phases Mg_(17)Al_(12), Al_2Ca, Mg_2 Sn and Mg_2 Ca in Mg-Al-Ca-Sn alloy were determined from the first-principles calculation. Hence, the heat resistance of Mg-Al-based alloys can be improved by adding Ca and Sn additions.

文摘The microstructural evolution of a Mg, Ag and Zn micro-alloyed Al?3.8Cu?1.28Li (mass fraction, %) alloy ingot during two-step homogenization was examined in detail by optical microscopy (OM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electron probe micro-analysis (EPMA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) methods. However, it seems that the AlCuFeMn phase is separated into Al7Cu2Fe and AlCuMn phases, and the size of Al7Cu2Fe phase exhibits nearly no change when the second-step homogenization time is longer than 2 h.

文摘The effects of pre-deformation following solution treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of aged high purity Al-Cu-Mg alloy were studied by tensile test, micro-hardness measurements, transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The peak hardness and peak strength of the CR alloy are increased because of quantity increasing and refinement of S′ phase and high density dislocation.
