Against Staphy/ococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pasteurella multocida, Streptococcus, Pseudomonas, solanacearum the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) was 2.5, 5, 0.625 iJg/ml, 0.625 and 1.25 g/ml, the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) was 5, 5, 1.25, 2.5, 2.5 g/ml, respectively. Composition identification of chemical method and mass spectrometry shows that the antibacterial active substance alkaloids; and the safety evaluation on the model plant Arabidopsis shows that the antibacterial active substance had no inhibitory and adverse effects on the growth and development of plants. The experimental results show that the antibacterial active substance is a broad-spectrum, high efficiency, safe antibacterial natural product, with the prospect of development and utilization of alternative antibiotics.展开更多

Antimicrobial substances can be increased through optimizing the medium of Brevibacil us laterosporus. [Method] A total of 10 factors were tested for their function of improving antibiotics yield of BL-21 by single-factor test. And the indicative bacterium was screened. [Result] The best indicative bacterium was Al-ternaria solani, the optimum process parameters in shaking flask on fermentation consisted of initial pH of 8.0, culture at 30 ℃, loadage 90 ml/250 ml, rotation 180 r/min, and fermentation time of 48 h. The results also indicated that glucose was the best carbon source for the antibiotics productivity of BL-21, and beef extract was the best nitrogen source. In addition, univalent ion Cl+ and divalent ion Mn2+ stimu-lated BL-21 antibacterial active component biosynthesis. [Conclusion] Optimized medi-um is more conducive to produce antimicrobial substances.展开更多

Coral mucus not only enables the coral itself to resist disease, but also provides antibacterial agents for people. We collected mucus from a scleractinian coral (Symphyllia gigantea) at Sta. Sanya (China), then extracted the antibacterial substances using 10% glacial acetic acid with the help of antiprotease inhibitors, and tested the antibacterial activity by a terrestrial bacterium (Staphylococcus aurevs) and a marine bacterium (Vibrio anguillarum). The result showed that, there were antibacterial agents in the mucus, and their antibacterial activities were lost by treatment of the sample at 90 ℃ water for 10 min.展开更多

In order to demonstrate the inhibitory effect of these bacteria, we studied the antagonistic capacity of the two leavens of yoghourt (Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus bulgaricus) and Bifidobacterium bifidum with respect to Helicobacterpylori by the method of diffusion by discs. Their interactions led to the emergence of large zones of inhibition. Bifidobacterium bifidum led the greatest halo with a diameter of 0.8 cm by contribution to Lactobacillus bulgaricus (0.5 cm) and Streptococcus thermophilus (0.3 cm). The additional tests were required to know the exact nature of the inhibitors. The results showed that the antibacterial peptides (bacteriocins) have a narrow spectrum of activity against the species pathogen compared to that caused by acidity.展开更多
