Electro- acupuncture (EA) applied to acupoints of GV channel suppresses spike- wave discharges(SW) of PTZ-induced petit mal epilepsy in rats. EA decreases cortical excitability and increases its inhibitory process. Electric stimulation of subcortical nuclei: caudate n., cuneiform n. of midbrain RF, substantia nigra and superior colliculus of rats with petit mal epilepsy can suppress SW, and EA effect becomes low after destruction of the latter at two sites. Stimulation and destruction applied to reticular n. of thalamus elicit reverse effect. Microinjection of drugs affecting neurotransmitters: HC3, haloperidal, PCA and 3-MP into certain parts of brain leads to prolonged SW and reduced EA effect. Injection of muscimol shortens SW duration and reinforces EA effect, while baclofen induces reverse result. AP5 causes shortening of SW duration. The contents of GABA, glycine and taurine are increased markedly in sensory-motor area and optic area of the cortex after EA, while glutamate is decreased. The GABA contents of thalamic reticular n. and reticular part of substantia nigra are also obviously elevated. 展开更多
