Since the current slagging of argon blowing refining process is relatively fixed, which cannot adapt to the fluctuation of converter smelting process,it poses the problems of poor metallurgical property of refining slag and a large amount of molten heel.An optimization system coupled with multiple models was proposed to dynamic control the ladle slagging in the argon blowing refining process. It can compile the optimal dynamic slagging scheme in real time under the guarantee of deoxidation performance and reasonable fluidity. The argon blowing refining slag composition range of CaO/Al_(2)O_(3)=1.3-1.7,CaO/SiO_(2)=6-12,w(MgO)=2%-6% was determined based on FeO activity and liquidus temperature by equilibrium thermodynamic calculation. In addition,it demonstrated better performance in the viscosity prediction task of the presented Visual Geometry Group 16-like one-dimensional convolutional neural network deep learning algorithm versus the Random Forest ensemble learning algorithm,as the adjusted coefficients of determination were 0.9712 and 0.9637,respectively.After the system was applied in operation, the argon blowing refining process was stable, and the steel yield was enhanced, which promoted the intelligent steelmaking level while achieving the cost reduction and efficiency improvement. 展开更多

The fluid flow and the interfacial phenomenon of slag and metal in tundish with gas blowing were studied with mathematical and physical modeling, and the effects of gas flowrate, the placement of porous beam for the generation of bubbles, and the combination of flow control devices on the flow and slag-metal interface were investigated. The results show that the position of gas bubbling has a significant effect on the flow in tundish, and the placement of porous beam and gas flowrate are the two main factors affecting the entrapment of slag in tundish. The closer the porous beam to the weir, the more reasonable is the flow, which is in favor of the control of slag entrapment in tundish. 展开更多

To improve the removal efficiency of such submicron inclusions,we designed an argon blowing method for an RH facility based on mathematical simulations. The effect of the argon blowing on the liquid steel flow and the movement of submicron inclusions was studied using the k-ε flow model coupled with the DPM model for inclusion movement based on fluid computational dynamics in FLUENT.It was found that a more uniform argon flow can be achieved in the up-leg snorkel with a new nozzle position and inner diameter, which resulted in a favorable up-lifting and mixing movement. The new design also increased the circulation rate of molten steel in the RH chamber. The increased turbulent kinetic energy and turbulent dispersing rate enhanced the collision probability of submicron inclusions, which results in an improved removal for 0.5-1 μm inclusions. The proposed RH facility could increase the removal rate of submicron inclusions from the original 57.1% to 66.4%,which improves the magnetic properties of non-oriented silicon steel. 展开更多

The behavior of nitrogen desorption reaction in molten stainless steel for AISI 304 and 316 during immersion argon blowing through an immersed alumina nozzle with 3 mm in I. D. has been investigated by sampling method. Some kinetic parameters such as reaction order, rate constant and apparent activation energy of nitrogen desorption reaction for AISI 304 and 316 have been obtained. Results show that nitrogen desorption reaction from molten stainless steel for AISI 304 and 316 is the second order reaction. The rate constant at 1550 ℃ and 1 580 ℃ for AISI 316 is 0. 08407%-1 · min^-1 and 0. 82370%-1 · min^-1 , respectively. The rate constant at 1550 ℃ for AISI 304 is 0. 416 6%-1 · min^-1. The apparent activation energy Ea of nitrogen desorption reaction for AISI 316 is 2 136.47 kJ/ mol. This huge value of apparent activation energy verifies that the nitrogen desorption reaction has a complex and multistep reaction mechanism. The rate of nitrogen desorption reaction from molten stainless steel is mixed controlled by the desorption reaction of diatomic molecule nitrogen or of monatomic nitrogen from molten metal at the gas-metal interface and the mass transfer of nitrogen in molten metal. The rate equation of process for nitrogen desorption has been deduced. 展开更多

Targeting the single tuyere and double tuyere methods of argon blowing for Baosteel' s 300 t ladle furnace, the 3D continuity equation, the N-S equation and the turbulent k-ε double-equation were used to model the form of the molten steel flow and the dead areas under six different argon blowing conditions. The different flow field forms and the degree of mixing under different argon blowing methods were compared. The results demonstrate that when large ladles are operated via different methods of argon blowing, the spray from the centre of a single tuyere forms a symmetrical vortex, while when a double tuyere sprays, there is basically no clear vortex. In regards to the amount of argon blowing that will produce the best blend of molten steel, the amount of dead area reduction will not be clearly noticeable if there is an excessive argon blowing amount. 展开更多

In the continuous casting process of aluminum killed steel grades, nozzle clogging is a common problem.Argon is usually injected into the casting channel through stoppers or nozzles to minimize clogs;however, complex two-phase flow regimes appear, and the flow in the mold might deteriorate. This could result in a higher defect rate in the cast product and should be avoided as much as possible. Therefore,it is important to understand the interaction between process conditions and the refractory products used and their impact on the flow pattern in the mold.In this study,a full-scale water model was established to simulate the slab casting process.Three nozzle shapes and three immersion depths were applied to investigate the flow behavior and liquid level fluctuations by the full-scale water model. The relationship between the flow behavior and continuous casting parameters was evaluated. The results provide guidance for the design and production of the refractory nozzle and the operation of the continuous casting plant. 展开更多
