The hourglassmode’s control methods, such as single-point reduced integration and contact-collision algorithms are detailedand implemented within the finite element framework. The paper further investigates the dynamic responseand failure modes of Reinforced Concrete (RC) members under asymmetrical impact using a 3D discrete modelin ABAQUS that treats steel bars and concrete connections as bond slips. The model’s validity was confirmedthrough comparisons with the node-sharing algorithm and system energy relations. Experimental parameterswere varied, including the rigid hammer’s mass and initial velocity, concrete strength, and longitudinal and stirrupreinforcement ratios. Findings indicated that increased hammer mass and velocity escalated RC member damage, while increased reinforcement ratios improved impact resistance. Contrarily, increased concrete strength did notsignificantly reduce lateral displacement when considering strain rate effects. The study also explores materialnonlinearity, examining different materials’ responses to collision-induced forces and stresses, demonstratedthrough an elastic rod impact case study. The paper proposes a damage criterion based on the residual axialload-bearing capacity for assessing damage under the asymmetrical impact, showing a correlation betweendamage degree hammer mass and initial velocity. The results, validated through comparison with theoreticaland analytical solutions, verify the ABAQUS program’s accuracy and reliability in analyzing impact problems, offering valuable insights into collision and impact problems’ nonlinearities and practical strategies for enhancingRC structures’ resilience under dynamic stress.展开更多

The unknown time-varying delay uncer- tainties are compensated for using appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals in the design. The approach removes the assumption of linear function outside the deadband without necessarily constructing a dead-zone inverse as an added contribution. By utilizing the integral-type Lyapunov function and introducing an adaptive compensation term for the upper bound of the residual and optimal approximation error as well as the dead-zone disturbance, the closed-loop control system is proved to be semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded. In addition, a modified adaptive control algorithm is given in order to avoid the high-frequency chattering phenomenon. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.展开更多

Emphasis is placed on singular characteristics as the linear coupling between subsystems degenerated. For nonresonances, it is analytically presented that a single-mode motion and localization of vibrations occur in the system, and the degree of localization relates not only to the coupling stiffness between oscillators, but also to the asymmetric parameter. The parametric threshold value of localization is analytically given. For 1 : 1 resonance, there exist bifurcations of normal modes with nonlinearly coupling stiffness and asymmetric parameter varying. The bifurcating set on the parameter and bifurcating curves of normal modes are obtained.展开更多

A consecutive modal pushover (CMP) procedure is one of the pushover methods that have been developed to consider these effects. The aim of this paper is to modify the (CMP) analysis procedure to estimate the seismic demands of one-way asymmetric-plan tall buildings with dual systems. An analysis of 10-, 15- and 20-story asymmetric-plan buildings is carried out, and the results from the modified consecutive modal pushover (MCMP) procedure are compared with those obtained from the modal pushover analysis (MPA) procedure and the nonlinear time history analysis (NLTHA). The MCMP estimates of the seismic demands of one-way asymmetric-plan buildings demonstrate a reasonable accuracy, compared to the results obtained from the NLTHA. Furthermore, the accuracy of the MCMP procedure in the prediction of plastic hinge rotations is better than the MPA procedure. The new pushover procedure is also more accurate than the FEMA load distribution and the MPA procedure.展开更多

The adaptive compensation terms of the approximation errors axe adopted to minimize the influence of modeling errors and parameter estimation errors. By theoretical analysis, the closed-loop control system is proved to be semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded, with tracking errors converging to zero. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.

文摘This paper is focused on the state estimation problem for nonlinear systems with unknown statistics of measurement noise.Based on the cubature Kalman filter,we propose a new nonlinear filtering algorithm that employs a skew t distribution to characterize the asymmetry of the measurement noise. The system states and the statistics of skew t noise distribution, including the shape matrix, the scale matrix, and the degree of freedom(DOF)are estimated jointly by employing variational Bayesian(VB)inference. The proposed method is validated in a target tracking example. Results of the simulation indicate that the proposed nonlinear filter can perform satisfactorily in the presence of unknown statistics of measurement noise and outperform than the existing state-of-the-art nonlinear filters.
文摘Nonlinear normal modes in a two degrees of freedom asymmetric system with cubic nonlinearities as singularity occurs in the system are studied, based on the invariant space in nonlinear normal modes and perturbation technique. The bifurcating set on the parameter and bifurcating curves of normal modes are obtained.
文摘In this paper, a hybrid approach was developed to investigate the transient responses of a multi span non uniform flexible spinning shaft with nonlinear and asymmetric supports. The non uniform spinning shaft with variable parameters was modeled as a Bernoulli Euler beam column with sectional constant cross section properties by the finite element method. The supporting stiffness behavior of the nonlinear supports was described as a piecewise linear and asymmetric model. The equations of motion in the matrix form of a multi span non uniform spinning shaft with nonlinear and asymmetric supports were formulated using Hamilton's principle and the assumed mode method. As an example, a spinning rocket with many variable stiffness supports was numerically simulated by the direct integration method. The transient response and dynamic behavior of this rotate dynamic system are analyzed.

文摘The ultrasonic motor (USM) possesses heavy nonlinearities which vary with driving conditions and load-dependent characteristics such as the dead-zone. In this paper, an identification method for the rotary travelling-wave type ultrasonic motor (RTWUSM) with dead-zone is proposed based on a modified Hammerstein model structure. The driving voltage contributing effect on the nonlinearities of the RTWUSM was transformed to the change of dynamic parameters against the driving voltage. The dead-zone of the RTWUSM is identified based upon the above transformation. Experiment results showed good agreement be- tween the output of the proposed model and actual measured output.

文摘This paper investigates the issue of adaptive optimal tracking control for nonlinear systems with dynamic state constraints. An asymmetric time-varying integral barrier Lyapunov function(ATIBLF)based integral reinforcement learning(IRL)control algorithm with an actor–critic structure is first proposed. The ATIBLF items are appropriately arranged in every step of the optimized backstepping control design to ensure that the dynamic full-state constraints are never violated. Thus, optimal virtual/actual control in every backstepping subsystem is decomposed with ATIBLF items and also with an adaptive optimized item.Meanwhile, neural networks are used to approximate the gradient value functions.According to the Lyapunov stability theorem, the boundedness of all signals of the closed-loop system is proved, and the proposed control scheme ensures that the system states are within predefined compact sets. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control approach is validated by simulations.

文摘An inter-story shear model of asymmetric base-isolated structures incorporating deformation of each isolation bearing was built, and a method to simultaneously simulate bi-directional near-fault and far-field ground motions was proposed. A comparative study on the dynamic responses of asymmetric base-isolated structures under near-fault and far-field ground motions were conducted to investigate the effects of eccentricity in the isolation system and in the superstructures, the ratio of the uncoupled torsional to lateral frequency of the superstructure and the pulse period of near-fault ground motions on the nonlinear seismic response of asymmetric base-isolated structures. Numerical results show that eccentricity in the isolation system makes asymmetric base-isolated structure more sensitive to near-fault ground motions, and the pulse period of near-fault ground motions plays an import role in governing the seismic responses of asymmetric base-isolated structures.
文摘The effects of higher modes and torsion have a significant impact on the seismic responses of asymmetric-plan tall buildings. The new pushover procedure is also more accurate than the FEMA load distribution and the MPA procedure.
