Automatic inspection of LED indicators on automobile meters based on a seeded region growing algorithm

Light emitting diode (LED) indicators used on automobile meters are essential for safe driving and few errors can be tolerated. The current manual inspection approach can achieve only 95% accuracy rate in weeding out errors occurring in the production process. It is imperative to improve the accuracy of the inspection process to better achieve the goal of safe driving. This paper proposes an automatic inspection method for LED indicators for use on automobile meters. Firstly,red-green-blue (RGB) color images of LED indicators are acquired and converted into R,G,and B intensity images. A seeded region growing (SRG) algorithm,which selects seeds automatically based on Otsu's method,is then used to extract the LED indicator regions. Finally,a region matching process based on the seed and three area parameters of each region is applied to inspect the LED in-dicators one by one to locate any errors. Experiments on standard automobile meters showed that the inspection accuracy rate of this method was up to 99.52% and the inspection speed was faster compared with the manual method. This paper proposed a novel approach based on computer vision technology to cope with log volume inspection. The needed hardware system was analyzed and the details of the inspection algorithms were given. A fuzzy entropy based on image enhancement algorithm was presented for enhancing the image of the cross-section of log. In many practical applications the cross-section is often partially invisible, and this is the major obstacle for correct inspection. To solve this problem, a robust Hausdorff distance method was proposed to recover the whole cross-section. Experiment results showed that this method was efficient. 展开更多

Both a brief review of its applications in the recent decade both at home and abroad to the automatic inspection and assessment of the various apparent properties of the textiles, such as yarn, woven fabrics and knitting fabrics, carpet fabrics, nonwoven fabrics and textile webs, etc., and a detailed introduction to the research work including the objective evaluation of fabric wrinkle grade, automatic fabric defects detection and assessment of fabric pilling grade, etc., that was conducted by our research section, i.e., Computer Vision’s Textiles Application Research Section, College of Textiles, Dong Hua University, have been provided. Experimental results have proved the feasibilities of the approaches used by us in the applications to the objective inspection and assessment of fabric apparent properties, and also indicated that the technology of computer vision is a power tool for the objective and automatic inspection and assessment of textiles apparent properties, and that it has a bright application future. 展开更多

An on-line full scan inspection system is developed for particle size analysis. A particle image is first obtained through optical line scan technology and is then analyzed using digital image processing. The system is composed of a particle separation module, an image acquisition module, an image processing module, and an electric control module. Experiments are carried out using non-uniform 0.1 mm particles. The main advantage of this system consists of a full analysis of particles without any overlap or miss, thus improving the Area Scan Charge Coupled Device (CCD) acquisition problems. Particle size distribution, roundness, and sphericity can be obtained using the system with a deviation of repeated precision of around ±1%. The developed system is shown to be also convenient and versatile for any particle size and shape for academic and industrial users. 展开更多

Flexible electronics such as mechanically compliant displays,sensors and solar cells,have important applications in the fields of energy,national defence and biomedicine,etc.Various types of flexible electronics have been proposed or developed by the improvements in structural designs,material properties and device integrations.However,the manufacturing of flexible electronics receives little attention,which limits its mass production and industrialization.The increasing demands on the size,functionality,resolution ratio and reliability of flexible electronics bring several significant challenges in their manufacturing processes.This work aims to report the state-of-art technologies and applications of flexible electronics manufacturing.Three key technologies including electrohydrodynamic direct-writing,flip chip and automatic optical inspection are highlighted.The mechanism and developments of these technologies are discussed in detail.Based on these technologies,the present work develops three kinds of manufacturing equipment,i.e.,inkjet printing manufacturing equipment,robotized additive manufacturing equipment,and roll-to-roll manufacturing equipment.The advanced manufacturing processes,equipment and systems for flexible electronics pave the way for applications of new displays,smart sensing skins and epidermal electronics,etc.By reviewing the developments of flexible electronics manufacturing technology and equipment,it can be found that the existing advances greatly promote the applications and commercialization of flexible electronics.Since flexible electronics manufacturing contains many multi-disciplinary problems,the current investigations are confronted with great challenges.Therefore,further developments of the reviewed manufacturing technology and equipment are necessary to break the current limitations of manufacturing resolution,efficiency and reliability. 展开更多
