Results of the virtual simulation teaching method on autonomous learning competencies of undergraduate nursing students

Background:With the continuous development of information technology,most universities use mobile teaching platforms for classroom teaching.With the help of the national virtual simulation experimental teaching project sharing platform,students can enhance self-directed learning through the virtual simulation operations of the project.Purpose:To explore the application of virtual simulation experiment in teaching the fundamentals of nursing practice based on the Platform of the National Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Project during the COVID-19 pandemic analyze the impact of this teaching method on the autonomous learning ability of undergraduate nursing students.Methods:Convenience sampling was used to select 121 nursing undergraduates from Y University’s School of Nursing;the online teaching of fundamentals of nursing practice was conducted to the students.After taking the course,questionnaires were distributed to the undergraduate nursing students to collect their perceptions regarding the use of the virtual simulation experiment platform and autonomous learning competencies.Results:Most students expressed their preference for the virtual simulation teaching platform,and their satisfaction with the project evaluation was high 83.05%.They hoped to promote the application in future experimental teaching.Undergraduate nursing students believed that the virtual simulation teaching platform was conducive to cultivating clinical thinking ability,could stimulate learning interest,enhanced autonomous learning competencies.Conclusion:During the pandemic,the virtual simulation teaching platform for a lecture on in nursing education has achieved good results in both the aspects of teaching and student learning.Teachers efficiently used their training time and reduced their teaching burden.Moreover,the laboratory cost was also reduced.For undergraduate nursing students,the system was conducive to cultivating clinical thinking ability,stimulating their interest in learning,enhancing their learning and comprehension abilities and learning initiative.

An Investigation of College English Autonomous Learning in Network Multimodal Context

In the current society, based on the growing development of network information technology, the teaching in many colleges and universities has also introduced it to adapt to the situation. This trend can provide more useful conditions for students to learn, which requires students to master enough self-learning abilities to adapt to this model. The study in the paper shows that students are usually interested in autonomous learning in a multimodal environment, but the degree of strategy choice is relatively low, and the learning process is blind and passive with the lack of self-confidence. Facing the future, schools should actively integrate into network thinking, and teachers should change their roles and train and guide students’ learning strategies and learning motivations, so as to achieve better teaching results.

Oral English Autonomous Learning Ability of English Majors Under the Background of the Internet and Its Improvement

Research on the Construction of English Autonomous Learning Monitoring Mode under the Background of Big Data

The era of big data is coming,the combination of big data and traditional teaching can provide more and more accurate services for students'self-learning,and it is a good way to teach students according to their aptitude.In this background,a learning society is coming,which aiming at learning,autonomous learning and lifelong learning.Learning society emphasize the ability of learning autonomy for students unprecedentedly.Learning is no longer limited to the campus.Learning ability will accompany learners'social life and become an active and healthy lifelong activity.Autonomous learning is a learning theory that goes with the requirements of The Times and has a broad development prospect.The study of Autonomous learning not only has a very important guiding significance for the educational and teaching practice in China,but also plays an important role in the life development of every student.The subject of learning is gradually transferred from the classroom,teachers and textbooks to the students themselves.Teachers should not only impart knowledge and answer questions,but also,most importantly,teach students how to exert their autonomy in autonomous learning.After investigating and researching the existing monitoring model of autonomous English learning in colleges and universities,our group found that in practice,there is a lack of corresponding monitoring mechanisms and means,and autonomous learning has gradually become formalized.Therefore,according to the actual situation of autonomous English learning in our country's universities,the monitoring model of autonomous English learning has been reconstructed,and an effective comprehensive evaluation system has been established to effectively improve students'English learning ability.

An Investigation Into Freshmen＇s Autonomous Learning of English Major

Autonomous learning has been attracting more and more attention in the field of second language teaching and learning since it was put forward. In order to get a better understanding about autonomous learning competence of freshmen of English major in university, this investigation was conducted in the form of questionnaire and was analyzed according to the data collected. The investigation found that autonomous learning competence of freshmen is poor and worrying. Freshmen have strong motivation for English learning, but they keep old learning habit and more rely on teachers. They are incapable of employing metacognitive strategies in their language learning and are not good at utilizing related learning resources available to them. All these deficiencies hinder improvement of them. So they are in great need of fostering the competence of automous learning.

The Cultivation of Non-English Majors Autonomous Learning in China

Cultivating the capacity for autonomy learning is not only the inner need of learners but the final aim of ESL （English as a Second Language） teaching and learning as well. Most researchers concentrate on ESL classroom interaction, learning strategies on autonomy learning, learner autonomy, teacher autonomy, and so on. Little research considers various aspects of autonomous learning meanwhile, let alone how to guide a Chinese college English teacher to cultivate autonomy learners on the basis of relevant findings. It is proved that to promote learner autonomy is an important direction and breakthrough of College English Teaching reform in China. Thus, the paper is intended to offer a series of operational, accessible, and effective suggestions for the development of learner autonomy in China. It is expected hopefully that these suggestions can promote learners to become successful autonomy learners and improve their language learning efficiency.

On Cultivation of Autonomous Learning Competence in College English Listening Teaching

Effects of Online Teaching on Student Autonomous Learning with U-MOOCS:A Case Study of Business English and Communication

This study examines the effects of online teaching on student autonomous learning by using U-MOOCS during the period of COVID-19 pandemic.The participants were bachelor’s degree students in English Department taking“Business English and Communication”course.Approaches to learning practice were measured by designing a multi-link teaching model,including the periods before,during,and after the online class.The study result reveals that the implementation of the proposed model for this course can not only fully mobilize students’learning enthusiasm,but also provide practical help for students’autonomous learning,which proves to be an effective teaching model.

An Empirical Study of Listening Comprehension Strategies in Autonomous Learning Environment

This is a report on an empirical study of listening comprehension strategies in autonomous learning environment which was conducted among the second-year non-English majors in Shandong University （Weihai） on the basis of O＇Malley and Chamot＇s theory of learning strategies, dating from September, 2010 to January, 2011. The study aims to verify the teachability of listening comprehension strategies, the enhancement of students＇ awareness of applying these strategies in their listening comprehension pratice and positive effects of listening comprehension strategies cast on students＇ listening comprehension proficiency. Questionnares on listening comprehension strategies were conducted at the beginning and at the end of the research respectively, in addition to the listening comprehension strategies training from the beginning to the end of the research. Besides, there was a interview arranged in the middle of the research. Meanwhile, there were two listening comprehension proficiency tests arranged at the beginning and at the end of the research. According to the results, it can be indicated that the students＇ strategy awareness can be promoted, while their listening proficiency also can be improved by the listening comprehension strategy training.

A study on Promoting Non-English Major Students＇ Autonomous Learning through Metacognitive Strategy Training

Improving Non-English major students＇ autonomous learning is a focus for the teachers in the high vocational and technical college. Furthermore, promoting students＇ autonomous learning through metcacognitive strategies training has been received increasing attention. The research reports an empirical study on the relationship between metacognitive strategies and English autonomous learning. Finally, the teaching experiment was proved to be feasible and valid.

Integrating WeChat-based Autonomous Learning Community into Improving Speaking--An Action Research Study in EFL

The purpose of this paper is to share the findings of an action research aiming at helping college students to improve their speaking by applying a WeChat-based autonomous learning community.WeChat is the most wide-spread social media platform in China.In this 10-week action research,a total of 16 participants in a Chinese university were involved.After identifying the incentive of participating in this WeChat Group speaking activity,most of which were related with pronunciation and a lack of speaking fluency practice,an action plan was developed and implemented.In this WeChat group,the participants received weekly learning material about pronunciation and speaking assignments accordingly,then they had one week to learn the pronunciation independently and prepare the oral assignments.Following this,participants submitted their voice recording in the WeChat group and were given feedback by an instructor in this group.Observations,questionnaires,and surveys were used to collect data.The results show a positive feedback from the learners on a WeChat-based autonomous learning community.The study observes(1)college EFL learners have a strong motivation;intrinsic motivation especially has a positive relationship with participants’performance;(2)students have a positive attitude towards WeChat-based autonomous learning community;(3)timely feedback from instructors is highly valued by language learners.

Using Web Corpora to Develop Students’Autonomous Learning Compe⁃ tence for English Vocabulary—An Action Research

This study conducted an action research on facilitating students’vocabulary autonomous learning competence by applying web corpora into vocabulary teaching in EFL classroom.The research last for one semester(15 weeks),53intermediateEnglish learners.whose age ranged from 20 to 22 were the subjects.The data was collected usingquestionnaire,teacher’s log,students’diaries and interview.The findings were discussed in the light of interventions and recommendations in the classroom instruction.

An Overview of Autonomous Learning and Reflections on EFL Teaching
