The azimuth resolution improvement problem is solved via a coherent combination of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) ima-ges with the quasi-non-overlapped Doppler bandwidth. Prior to the spectra combination, SAR images should be coregistered, while phase biases induced by topography, atmospheric propagation delays and baseline measurement errors should be calibrated. However, the coregistration accuracy suffers from large Doppler decorrelation caused by the quasi-non-overlapped Doppler band-width. Furthermore, the method used to estimate phase biases from interferogram of azimuth prefiltered SAR image pairs wil fail when there is no overlapped spectrum. The fringe simulation and maximum sharpness optimization are adopted to deal with the problems. Accordingly, a novel algorithm to coherently synthesize SAR images is presented. The experiment with the Terra SAR X-band (TerraSAR-X) satel ite data validates the performance of the presented method. 展开更多

We developed a novel cement evaluation logging tool, named the azimuthally acoustic bond tool(AABT),which uses a phased-arc array transmitter with azimuthal detection capability. We combined numerical simulations and field tests to verify the AABT tool. The numerical simulation results showed that the radiation direction of the subarray corresponding to the maximum amplitude of the first arrival matches the azimuth of the channeling when it is behind the casing. With larger channeling size in the circumferential direction, the amplitude difference of the casing wave at different azimuths becomes more evident. The test results showed that the AABT can accurately locate the casing collars and evaluate the cement bond quality with azimuthal resolution at the casing-cement interface, and can visualize the size, depth, and azimuth of channeling. In the case of good casingcement bonding, the AABT can further evaluate the cement bond quality at the cementformation interface with azimuthal resolution by using the amplitude map and the velocity of the formation wave. 展开更多

Based on the point spread function (PSF) theory, the side-lobe extension direction of the impulse response in bistatic synthetic aperture radar (BSAR) is analyzed in detail; in addition, the corresponding autofocus in BSAR should be considered along iso-range direction, not the traditional azimuth resolution (AR) direction. The conclusion is verified by the computer simulation. 展开更多

In this paper,a special geometry case of spaceborne-airborne bistatic SAR(SA-BiSAR) is considered,in which satellite and aircraft flight paths are parallel and their antennas are steering at the strip map. This case is a simple but typical application example, which is applicable for non-cooperative illumination. The integration time of SA-BiSAR system is derived via the motion of transmitter and receiver footprint. In parallel and stripmap mode,Doppler frequency is obtained through the combination be-tween spaceborne and airborne SAR.Other Doppler properties have been envisaged, including Doppler bandwidth and azimuth resolution. The overall simulation experiments are conducted and some characteristics are exhibited. The critical parameters, which have the significant effect on the SA-BiSAR Doppler properties, are extracted by analytical expressions and numerical simulations. In parallel and strip map mode and with reference to ENVISAT-1,SA-BiSAR system possesses the potential of yielding 10 m azi-muth resolution and 0.5 s integration time for C-band via the analysis of simulation results. 展开更多
